I love how the younger HP cast looks up to the older actors, it's so cute. Alan Rickman was a legend. Not just because of how he played Severus Snape, it's because of how he interacted with the kids on the set as well, and how playful he was with them. Tom obviously looks up to him a lot, and honestly, how can he not?? It's the same with Daniel Radcliffe and his adoration of Gary Oldman. I just love all of this.
Aww, bless. I think people forget that kids kind of enjoy a bit of a scary/baddie character. I read this literary criticism once where they said that we’ve sadly moved away from really mean, horrifying characters in children’s novels/plays/movies so as not to scare them, but really, they LOVE it, and it’s an important part of their own development (not terrifying, mind you) and getting confidence to go out into a world that isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There’s something really fun about a character that you enjoy being slightly afraid of or intimidated by, it’s a little bit of an endorphin rush. I love at the end when he said how kids would just LOVE it when Snape smacked them in the head and said “tuck your shirt in.” They know it’s not real, so they can just enjoy being a bit intimidated. What a delightful story, thanks for sharing Tom!!
