    ITEMS I USED ON THIS VIDEO:
    - Photocell Light Sensor - amzn.to/3veJswD
    - WAGO 221 Lever Wire Connectors - amzn.to/48508VM
    - Voltage Detector - amzn.to/3v8KBWh
    - Black+Decker Automatic Screwdriver - amzn.to/3v8KEBr

      Definitely grabbing some of the wago lever connectors. Had the regular ones for tight spaces but always wished they could be changed without cutting the wire, this is way better. A must for connecting 4 or 5 wires which happens often in old house wirings

    I would not put the sensor in a lamp fitting as it will detect light from the bulb then turn it self off again then then on again and so on

      Many years ago I did the same thing. I prefer to point the sensor towards the ground to avoid being confused by the light bulb, but still able to detect sunlight during the day.

    Another good option is the timer light switches, they can be a bit annoying to initially figure out the settings but once done they run well.

      That’s what I did. Got a few TP-Link - Tapo Smart Wi-Fi Light Switch from Best Buy for $13 (on sale) and programmed the front/porch lights to turn on 30 minutes before sunset and turn off 30 minutes after sunrise

    They do sell LED bulbs with light sensors too, just screw them in like a normal bulb, way easier than add allstuff you did

    • @chiquita683
      @chiquita683 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do and I have a few, the issue is if its a shaded area like a porch it cant tell night and day well. With this you could theoretically drill a hole on like the side of the porch to put it through and turn any light on or off. Personally I ended up using a timer light switch for it

    But is there anyway to wire a photocell with a switch bypass? Eg. need the light to be on when it’s dark outside like for a basement, I could also turn on independently?

    I am curious about the longevity of it. Feel like here in AZ the UV kills everything unless its built really well. There are a few lights I would like to install these on

    Does that mean when you turns your light on it will make the sensor turn off come on turn off.

    I think where he mounted that sensor when the light goes on it's going to think it's light and turn the light off I don't think I'd ever mounted near the light bulb

    Yo my man, the red wire could be the hot wire but it's actually the load that powers up the light bulb 💡 hot wire is black that's the line wire.

    Bro I have 2 outdoor lights on garage wall with photo cell sensors. One went out. I bought the exact one like urs at lowes. I installed it during day time with correct wiring. As soon as I turned the beaker on, the older working one was off and the newly installed one came on and never shut off. I waited a whole day to see if it turned off and it did not. At night the other one came on and both were on till dawn and the older one went off at dawn and this one didnt. IDK what"s goin on. That was the 2nd sensor I replaced thinking the first one was defective. any advice? ty

  • @coatknight

    Good video except your sensor location is wrong. It should be isolated, unable to "see" the bulb, or the light will sense its own light and turn itself off after a brief delay. on/off/on/off/ etc

    Supposing I have several outdoor lights (SIX) all controlled by ONE indoor switch? There MUST be a simpler way than converting each separate fixture.

  • @doesnt-matter
    @doesnt-matter 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Excellent explanation, my question is what happens to light red wire and main power read wire? You told light black to sensor black, light white, power white and sensor white to one . But not show to light red and power red!

    • @driftrloine
      @driftrloine 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What light red? Do you mean the ground he mentioned at the start? Sensor red goes to main power black (hot wire), sensor black goes to bulb black wires, white goes to neutral which should be whites on bulbs, ground just gets screwed to the base.

  • @waleyefish9026
    @waleyefish9026 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The sensor needs to face away from the bulb. I would drill the hole in the outer collar of the fixture.🦧
