Thanks for this video. Really enjoy playing this game. The base game is a lot of fun and intense at the same time - if you like this version, the base game is so much better. Lots of re-playability.
@Spiros Peiraios Thanks for watching! I don't have the game to check the rules ... but I've been known to make some mistakes, but hopefully got enough right for people to make a decision if the games was for them or not.
Thanks for sharing. It's a nice game with unique mechanics, but as pocket dice games go... I like Tiny Epic Galaxies a little bit more. But, it looks like there are more variations of play in D-Day, so maybe it would be more fun?
@Tony Bowers I haven't gotten into the Tiny Epic games ... yet. I know I kickstarted their last one, and may pick up some of the others if I ever stop buying new titles. ;)
@@DaletheCasualGamer I got it a while ago and was never sure I was playing right because none of the videos I watched at the time seemed to play the game in the way I was interpreting the rules. The basic game is match the Axis dice, increasing one per round, with the 4th round, “The Gantlet” being different on each beach. This is how I was playing months ago, but uncertain if it was correct. Thought it was just ok, but I wasn’t really grasping how to use the specialists to manipulate the dice. Just got D-Day Dice and after watching videos and playing it, it helped me better understand Pocket. Came back to YT to clarify the rules, but it was a comment from the designer on a players question on BGG that finally clarified it for me. The question was about whether you were supposed to use the Gantket rule when playing Advanced beaches and the designer said no. That’s how I finally confirmed that the way I was playing was correct. There are two other versions - one using the Komendant die and another where you start with a Specialist. So anyway… I need to try playing again (with confidence) to see if I really like it. Advanced Beaches wasn’t fun for me. As of right now, I think I like D-Day Dice better.
@@biffybeans Hope you enjoy coming back to the game! I've always found many rules are open to interpretation and can have a huge impact on gameplay. I have had many people tell me the "regular" game is much better. Happy gaming! :)
@@DaletheCasualGamer Yes. I still own it and actually played it this summer a bit. After just watching your play thru, I think I prefer the original. There's a lot more options. It's still a bit of a dice fest but there feels like there's at least some strategy about when and where to move.
@@DaletheCasualGamer the rule from the reference card should be applied when entering 4 sector and gantlet challenge in addition :-) this makes the game very challenging, I played dozens of times and managed to reach the bunker only few times but eventually lost :-( but just noticed we can improve chances applying advanced solo beaches rule (see it in the right corner of the rules sheet)
At around 6:55 you rerolled the Medic when I believe you could have taken it?

@Don L. Martin I'll have to keep a look out for the base game. Well maybe after I get all the unplayed games in my collection played. ;)

Believe you are playing the Advanced Beaches version of DDD Express here.
@Stephanie Smith Thanks for watching! Are you a fan of this pocket dice game? :)

@YuRa Arkham I do like rolling me some dice! :)
Have you played the original d day dice? If so how do you think the two compare?

@@matthiasmaccabeus9215 Good to know, I appreciate the feedback! :)
I dont think you could pick up a medic, the gantlet in sector 4 for Utah Beach is: No Specialists may be rallied
@Arkadiusz Klosowski Interesting the Gantlet on the reference card is different from the rules sheet. No wonder I missed that. :)
Good catch!
