I did this same thing with my Routt 45 almost 2 years ago because I don't care much for carbon forks. It rides like a dream and have no regrets. I'm glad this idea has caught on with Moots in the Routt family.
@@jasonwright6823, it's a Bearclaw titanium fork. It has the old specs, non-boosted, 100x15 thru axle, with room for a 2.3 tire. I had emailed them before I bought it to make sure it would work. Crown to axle length was similar to the original carbon fork and the fork rake was a little more than the original. The handling is awesome with the titanium fork.
Call me crazy but I like it cause it’s different. It may feel a tad slower or sluggish steering wise due to the mtn bike tires but that will blow through anything. I’m a mtn biker & occasional gravel rider, maybe that’s why I like it. Looks like a mtn bike with drop bars, beautiful bike to me!
Looks like a fun bike to ride. That segmented titanium fork looks gorgeous and would have enjoyed your tester to have shared his feelings of its suppleness and or stiffness ratio. Thanks Jom and Tom.
Thanks! Unfortunately, we had a very short window to shoot video of this bike prior to the embargo lifting today. Hoping to have an ESC in for review later, fingers crossed :)
Great presentation, Jom! Looks like post apocalyptic machine that will ride through anything. Wonder if front end geo is also designed for Rock shox Rudy?
I do prefer titanium builds over everything else, but the limitation of a 38'ish tooth (or less) 1x chainring that you see on a lot of Boost spacing and mountain bikes is pretty brutal. Thats a 3.8 ratio with that 10 tooth sprocket, so its similar to riding in a 53 x 14 gear which is super tough for us gear mashers who don't do high cadence well. I can even see it with your friend Tom there. He looks like he is spinning faster than he wants to. Definitely looks like a powerful guy who could ride much faster, but seems like his cadence is topped out by that 38 tooth chainring. Now if they could squeeze a 42 or 44 max on there, that would be nice. I wonder if that Moots model can be fit with a 2x chainring. That would solve it.
I think this model is closing the gap to MTB's; so for its intended purpose the 38/10 seems adequate. If you like to grind the gears I can see the 38T be limiting. I currently ride a 38/11 "tall" gear on my gravel bike, and it's already more than I need.
What a sweet ride. I believe there have previously been issues with TI forks as they had a tendency to develop fatigue cracks. I'd assume that Moots has ironed out those issues.
I’d be happy to take this too large of a bike off your hands. Will provide my address upon your request. The ESC looks great, great components…looks like the 1x’s are taking over the world! Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Jom! Me and a buddy have a few days planned to come down to florida for some gravel riding. We would like to stay in north florida. Can you suggest some good routes with no to little road?
There are optional rack and mudguard (fenders) mounts, but no tt direct mounts (odd). So the fork is not by Moots. I wonder who makes it? I thought the welding looked less clean than on the frame). It looks like a fun ride on really bumpy surfaces (car and truck tyre (tire) tread patterns imprinted in then baked dry mud, the worst of all). Another of the Routt models would be more versatile. All are rather pricey.
I just ordered a routt 45 and asked about a top tube mount. Moots said it would degrade the strength of the tube based on their design and would not offer it to me as an option.
@@paulkruglov7280 that’s one of my options. It’s 10mm longer than my current fork, which I’m not too excited about, but the Moots site says the ESC fork is an additional 15mm longer, so I think I can rule it out. Another option would be a custom made fork, but those don’t seem to be available with tapered steerers. First world problems, I guess!
'Keyboard hero/wankerfest/trolls' might be my fav new phrase. Nice bike. Needed a bike like that when I was recently riding in Southern AZ. Some routes would have been better 50mm or bigger in places.
@@GravelCyclist right on. Ride what you like, and shut it if you don't. The best thing about bikes is bikes. PS- I think this Moots looks like a blast. Cheers.
Oh man, Moots, titanium fork, yuge clearance and Enve wheels……. What’s not to like? Actually, a YBB rear end would match that fork beautifully. The only thing I’d want to finish it off
Way too expensive. I get it, but too much. I have a giant toughroad that cost $1850 and it can fit 29x2.2's easy. You don't have to spend that much for a mega gravel crusher.

@@MrSkidion Bearclaw is in fact who supplies the fork for the ESC. It's been in a few articles, with comments from Bearclaw themselves. Same maker.

To me this is what a gravel bike should be. If I could afford a

I really enjoy this one! The perfect bike for me! Titanium Lodi! Want to have this alongside with my current monster gravel bike 🚲 🦋💯✅
Love it! My kind of bike for sure.
Awesome Machine!!! FUNNNN!!! =P
The fork comes from the same place (in China) that makes Bearclaw's frames.
would make a great head to head against the Salsa Cutthroat and TI Fargo.
Agree. So many ti gravel bikes out now from Bearclaw (maker of that Moots fork), Lynskey, Litesped, Ribble, etc that I’d like to see a comparo.
One small correction. It actually does replace a bike, just not a Routt. It replaced the Baxter.
Nice. It’s the Bearclaw Beaux Jaxon, but lesser.

That's definitely a bicycle fit for a TORAX.
Perfect for stomping through the woods on two wheels.
Which saddle is that? Looks like a Selle Italia, but couldn’t tell which model it was on the bike.
Selle Italia Boost.
In addition to everything else that it’s already capable of, it would probably be fun to run around up at San Felasco as well, no?
Would have been fun to try, a shame it wasn't my size.

I wonder if they’ll offer the fork as an aftermarket upgrade. I want to get a Ti for for my Lynskey
Titanium fork is made by Bearclaw bicycle Co.
Take a look at Bearclaw titanium forks/bikes, I think you'll notice where the fork may be sourced.

I am surprised Moots could not make a Ti fork in the US and to outsource to Asia.
It isn't the lack of ability, it's the time and therefore cost it would take. $1000 fork?

3/2.5 titanium?
Yes, that is the primary material they build with.
