Ha! I did that through there on my climber road bike with 26mm gravel tyres & rim brakes recently. Don't talk to me about gnarly! 😬😆 Also, a tall head-stem is great if you like long distance imo - no more sore upper back/shoulder-blade area!
Hi Ride Adelaide. What road are you cycling on, if you recall, at 4:03 in this vid? And I'm in the market for a new bike - is Titanium smoother/more composed than Carbon? I'm weighing up purchasing a Titanium road versus Carbon (Trek/Specialized). Thanks.
Hey David, the road is the Old Eastern Freeway in Adelaide. You jump onto a bike path slightly above Gill Tce and follow it to Devil's Elbow and then pop out onto a continuous bike path most of the way to the top in Crafers. So, Carbon Vs Ti is a complex question. Carbon can be very smooth and have an excellent ride quality so I wouldn't say that Ti is inherently better than carbon. It depends on a lot of factors. I'd say the biggest question is your budget. Ti is generally more expensive so you can a very very nice carbon bike that has a great ride for less money. But if you're planning to buy a bike and ride it for a long time then Ti is great because it's so resilient. There's not really a right or wrong here, just which suits your budget and riding needs.
Nice review. Had a bit of a Top Gear feel to the beginning. Seems like a special bike. Also, you’re riding in the Conservation Park, not the Wildlife Park (hopefully)
Yo mate! Mostly tyre clearance. It's interesting looking back on this review a couple of years later and having ridden a bunch of gravel bikes. I've consistently found I'm happy on wider tyres. I'd want no less than 700Cx45mm and ideally 700Cx50mm. Oh, and fork mounts! Fork mounts on everything!
Y'know I'd probably go for the Routt 45 after a couple of years gravel and adventure riding. I'm tending towards always getting bigger tyres, especially for adventuring because I like more plushness and comfort on a loaded bike for long days. BUT! I don't see any mounts on the Moots forks which is pretty much mandatory for bikepacking.
6999.00?! Love Moots work. Without a doubt some of the nicest bikes, but for that price, why the fuck do I see eternally routed cables? For this fact alone I would not buy this bike.
Routt 45 or Routt RSL? I'm over 200lbs(muscle) and my steel bike(niner rlt) flexes a lot at the BB when I pedal. The RSL is supposed to be stiffer but max rear tire is 40mm.
moots is nice - but their prices are way out there - I am riding a Why Cycles R+: check it out - internal cables, 47mm tires clearance - yeah - not even the Routt 45 can go there. There are more companies making great Ti bikes than only Moots, just saying
Thanks Kari! I can assure you that Jason from Gravel Cyclist is a very nice fella too! He's from Adelaide originally and I spent a chunk of time with him over the December and January holidays.
Are American frame builders better than those in the far east, in my opnion, no. So you you've got titanium, right so it's gonna be stronger than carbon? Whilst it might be more durable you've still got a carbon fork and if that goes, well you know. Also titanium welds are known for being prone to failing. Looks fun, but no chance I'd buy anything like that.
Thanks. Just ordered the Routt 45 YBB!
You can get the RSL (Race Shop Limited) version of this bike that has a geometry a little more aggressive for racing and faster rides.

Beautiful bike, that price though😫
Great vid mate
Cheers bud!
Yeah the price.... but hey it’s titanium 😁. Always nice to see your reviews! Thx for your effort!
Heyyyyyy mate! Good to hear from you. Planning any more trips down under? Munda Biddi and Tasmania Trail might be worth a look for you 👌
I asked Sam what the hubs were (I was also perplexed), they are a limited release by Absolute Black! Who knew??
I heard something about Absolute Black licensed Onix hubs. They sure are loud and weird looking
@@JustRideAdelaide i dig it. the more obnoxious sounding the better ;)
how does this compare to other titanium brands such as Lynskey and Serotta?
No close ups of those insane welds? Nice video anyhow!
Thanks mate! I got a tasty weld photo in my written review: www.lavelocita.cc/la-velocita-reviews/moots-routt-review
Great video James..

@@JustRideAdelaide Thank you, I appreciate the advice. Cheers.
Great bike, no doubt! Try Lynskey if you get a chance.

idk... seems like equal chance of hitting a kangaroo regardless of which side if the fence you're on...
Very nice review, how would you rate this bike compared to other gravel bikes
What are the advantages of this over the rsl which would you choose and why h would you choose the rsl and why would you choose the 45? Great vid btw!

Looking back at this mate would you still pick the RSL over this with the amount of bikepacking you have been showcasing?

@@JustRideAdelaide they sell the 45 with the enve adventure fork which has mounts. Slightly diff geometry though
Really Nice vidéo! Gond filming
i need those 3T drop bars in my life
You and me both! The $500 price tag keeps them out of my life unfortunately

I ordered the 45. I don’t need speed at my age and opted for comfort and wider tire clearance.
makes the Curve gravel bike (Kevin) seem dirt cheap at nearly half the price. :)
Curve is still twice the price it's worth !
I would guess that if you put the same tires on a cro-moly Salsa Vaya (similar geometry) it would give you a similar ride.
Widely flared, shallow drop bars make total sense for gravel and road, like FSA compacts on steroids.
Want!
Oh me too! I friggin love them. They're $500 though... I can't justify that...
Review the new Trek Emonda ALR!!!!
I've tried to get Treks. Unsuccessful so far.

Its expensive in America too, haha
Not hating, but why do some bike reviewers need to wear a cycling cap on every video?
Easy answer; because I have REALLY shit hair!
@@JustRideAdelaide haha fair call.....
You sounds nice. Unlike that Gravel Cyclist guy. Thank you.

People that drop that much coin on a bicycle are rich and make bad life choices !
I'll bet anyone that owns one of these also owners a range rover .
I dunno man, if you can afford this bike and a range rover, it seems like you made some pretty good life choices to get that income.
made in america isnt a selling point, imo
i avoid american stuff nowadays
made in Italy is awesome!!
