The girl who killed it! With the colorful hair, is Cyndi Lauper. She is AMAZING!
A couple of good artists? They are legends. All of them.
Yea this was amazing 🤩 no lie
I didn’t know what to expect
True indeed!
@@dubzer0649they were all Grammy winners! Quincy Jones, director and producer put a sign
On the door that said “check your egos at the door“!
Yep! All legends!!! Perhaps some of the faces aren't recognized because they look much younger than the current generation is used to seeing them.
This will never be topped. Never ever. The stars of music all together.
My 47 year old self kno EVERY person in this & remember this moment yo..the 80's was EVERYTHING 😭💯😭‼
That’s awesome, I hope in a year I know everyone
I am too!
This 60 year old has seen 9 of them live in concert....
So glad I'm old enough to remember what it was like Before The Fun Stopped. Such a great time to be alive.
Yup 80s were the best times musically
You have Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Steve Perry, Cindy Lauper, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, and more, and you feel they are squeezin' their souls on every word and every verse...
When you said, he got a voice... that is the "voice" Steve Perry of Journey.
That's a stage full of legends.
Facts
This was so fun to react to
Thanks for watching
That was the decade *I* grew up in. As a white person, I knew all the white artists, AND I knew all the black artists. Racism was a non-issue. Look at every TV show and Hollywood movie from the 80's: Seamless integration on all levels. The world is so much more racist today than it ever was back then.
@@taekwondotime "Racism was a non-issue?" That's very white of you to say.
@@slappyslapstick4045 Were you alive in the 1980's? Didn't think so. As someone who lived it, I can tell you unequivocally that there was far LESS racism in America in 1980-1990 than there is today. So much less that it was a non-issue. Nobody ever talked about race. It was a non-starter.
That isn't to say that some people weren't racist. That will always be the case (on both sides). I'm talking about the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of people.
You couldn't even release a music video like this today. There's no comparison.
You don't know what it's like because you weren't there. You know only of TODAY. I was actually THERE. I lived it. It was a DIFFERENT time. One that you will never know.
@@slappyslapstick4045 The difference between the 1980's (my gen X generation) and this guy doing the reaction video (today's gen) is that he doesn't know ANY of the white artists. THAT's the racism that exists in the world TODAY. He doesn't listen to anything other than BLACK artists. Everyone is in their own musical "camp", exactly like it was in the 1950's where each race only listens to their "own" music. Me as a KID in the 1980's knew who Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson were. I knew them all because I LISTENED TO THEM ALL. White kids listening to black artists was NORMAL in the 1980's. Same with black kids listening to white artists. I actually CRINGED every time he said he didn't know who the person was. It shows his ignorance for all the world to see.
Absolutely ALL LEGENDS in this! You'll NEVER see this AGAIN!
Every single person you heard has their own, deep rabbit hole waiting to be explored.
That’s awesome, where do I start?
@@dubzer0649 I’m not sure it matters! You can’t go wrong with any of these artists. old Billy Joel is a good starting place or just pick a name from the list!
Honestly Tina turner, Kenny Roger's, kenny loggins.. Cyndi Lauper... the Jacksons, Diana ross.. and so much more
Come on! Ray Charles? He's Legend among black folks and others.. Gotta recognize him at least or do your homework. Lol.
@@saiyongdawn7756 Yes Ray Charles! I was a young stewardess in 1994 and had the absolute privilege of having him on one of my flights. Such a legend. God bless his wife, she was seated next to him and was such a classy lady. Even though he was blind he was outgoing and chatty with us. It was above and beyond and remember hearing he could tell when he was around pretty ladies. He even sang to us at one point. I’m sure she could’ve been annoyed but never let it show. He even did his “You got the right one baby” Pepsi song that was popular at the time as he was deplaning. I get very emotional anytime I see his videos. 🤗❤️

@@graceito973 yeah. 2010. Not quite as legendary a line up but fine and heart was in right place. And reused footage of Michael for the first course (in tribute since it hadn't been long since he died) and had the Diana Ross part sung by Janet which was rather sweet.
Seeing Cyndi Laueper sing was cute to me. I love Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Her cheeks always adorable.
The one comment you made about seeing them all together on stage. It’s was togetherness. There was no ego’s or racial tension. The 80’s were an amazing time. We were proud to be Americans.
That’s exactly what we need today
Watching young people like yourself react to all these iconic artists makes my day.
I’m glad you enjoy

Goodness! I've got to say this: Have you ever heard of Bruce Springstein? Bob Dylan? Harry Belafonte? Maybe you should do some studying ... these are all great legends.

I am 72 years old and I saw this when it premiered in 1985. There hasn't been anything like it since. So many great artists "checking their egos at the door" and bringing the world a vision we still need today. I love your reaction. Check out some of the work of the artists you didn't know. The strong raspy voice is Bruce Springsteen.
This was after the Grammys, Quincy Jones the conductor put a sign on the door that said Leave your Egos at the door and they did.

When that song came out in 85 we were all united.. we didn't have all this mess going on. All of us kids were raised the same back then. Ask any 80s kids what time you knew to go home. You'll get the same exact answer in all races. When the street lights came on.
That is very true Dana. I graduated High School in 1982. We knew as kids to all go home when the street lights came on. We had friends of different Races and you said Sir and Maam. You knew any Parent could correct any kid with the simple statement of do I need to tell your Dad or Mom.
Yep, street lights go on & I hear my dad’s whistle! 😁

THEY ARE ALL LEGENDS
You better look up all their names because just about everyone you see singing is a legend !
I will learn them on my music journey
I was around 14 when this magic happened. This song was played all over the World. I remember the day of 28th of March of the 1996, like over 6.000 radio stations all over the planet, played the song simultaneously at 10:15am. I remember in schools (Italy) when they told us that the song would have been played all over the planet and it is been so... It has been the biggest moment of unification that I ever lived in my life. Something that is just utopia, a dream, at the day of today... I'm so glad that I'm coming from that era. Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie materialized a masterpiece that night in L.A. This song has been made for charity. All those superstars went for free to spend the night in a studio to record the song. Some of them arrived there straight from the Americans awards etc .. They all left just when the job was done in the morning. No financial compensation for that long amazing job that they did. A support to Africa, that's it. There is a fantastic documentary (presented by Jane Fonda) that shows that magical night. Whoever is attracted by this song and wants to know more, I suggest to watch that documentary.
That moment when Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen shows up and unleashes his voice and you say you don't know who that is...
I realized how old I really am! And I'm not even that old!
He had an amazing voice def
Got some of his music coming out
Many of the other singers said they started laughing when Springsteen did that. It took them by surprise and felt it was over the top for the song. Sorry, but I agree. It was a finesse type of song and he tried to "toughen" it up.
Lol, im 46 and I've loved Bruce since I was a kid
I had heard (don't know if it's true) that he had come from a 4 hour concert that day and that's why his voice was so rough.
They asked him to be there and should've known they were getting a rock singer. He was beyond perfect and added some grit.
They all put thier hearts into this.
It’s scary how many young people don’t know the all time greats of modern music.
Yea music was different back then
It's up to us to expose our kids to these things. My son was listening to Elvis at 2 yrs old. He just missed 3 singers on here and he's 13.
The trouble and hope they went through to get Bob Dylan! And for him to say yes!! He didn’t even show up to get the Nobel Prize.

Great reaction!!! The person who requested you react to this wins understatement of the year awards for their comment you said before you watched. "There's a couple good artists in this." These were ALL of the top artists back then. So many different genres. Legends from then and many decades before as well. And movie stars in there also. Dan Akroyd fresh from Ghostbusters that same year to name one. This was epic on so many levels it's chilling looking back now. Especially watching you react to it for the first time. Mainly because it would be unlikely that we could get legends to do this nowadays.
Some background on Springsteen's appearance. He played a show in Syracuse, NY the night before, jumped on a plane and landed in LA. All these people paved the way for so many other artists, black and white. I was 17 when this song was released and it was amazing then and it still is today. All these people were my childhood heroes, especially MJ and Diana Ross. I hardly hear voices like this anymore, but I know they are out there. Just the focus is on different kind of music. Thanks for this video brings back memories. This was the musical dream team of mostly 80's, 70's and some 60's and 50's musicians and there were plenty more from that era that did not perform but that's because these were selected from mostly pop, R&B, and a few rock and country singers. When Steve Perry sang you said... ooo that voice... all I could say was... yep! (His nickname is "The Voice"... given to him by Jon Bonjovi) and this was a great reaction. I'm glad you felt it.
Steve Perry Is the Best!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Truly a legendary performance by some of the best musical artists of the 80's and earlier. I challenge anyone to listen to this and not get goosebumps or shed a tear at the beauty of the music, the voices, and the verses. The message holds true today. "We are the world, we are the children. . . " We ARE the change we wish to see in the world, even if it's a simple gesture of kindness. I hope that future generations will continue to listen to this and heed the call to help one another. If you have not heard the original Band Aid, Do They Know It's Christmas Time, 1984, give it a listen. An incredible lineup of British, Irish, and Scottish musicians. Bob Geldof who organized the original Band Aid makes an appearance in this video as well as a backup singer, though is generally uncredited as are so many others who comprised the chorus.
