Oh my, i have seen that pattern before, i made my girls dress's from that fabric, my youngest is 29 this year. Just shows you good printed fabric, is timeless.
You used the same sizing solution my cousins used for a flower girl once. They were on a tight budget, so when they found a clearance Christmas dress (their colors were red and white) about a size or two too large for the tiny four year old cousin's daughter, they went ahead and snatched it up figuring they could always take it in before the wedding in May. It was rather large on the girl, but they made it work by folding the sides of the back in with the sash belt (bonus, as a temporary fix it was always perfect on the day - kids grow alot in 4 months). The girl wore that dress for dressup for at least two years after.
I really enjoy these occasional doll videos - they are so cute, and it's so satisfying to see the project completed so quickly! Looking forward to the "human" sized dress. 😃
Such a cute dress. I love making doll clothes. That's why I originally got my American Girl Dolls for, to use as models for fitting the doll clothes on. I miss making doll clothes.
The dress came out beautiful! I am so glad you said that about the fabric being too heavy and tricky to gather. I have that same fabric in yellow, 4 yards of it (chosen purely for the look of it for my first sewing project ever, didn’t know anything about fabric) and it has given me so much trouble with doll clothes 😂
Im not even sure what it would be called, but you were talking about fabric choices and i immediately thought of the pastel floral print cotton used on 1970s and 1980s era pajamas mostly. I think it was just cheap woven… but it was practically see through. Would be perfect weight and floral for doll dresses like that!
That's cute and has made me want to explore that time... I have a 1914 sewing machine and I keep thinking it'd be neat to make something from that year or close, but I haven't found a style of anything I'd actually want to wear. This tiered ruffle thing is making me think maybe I need to look 1915-1916!
Lol that is so cute. I had that fabric back in the early 80s that I made into a very ruffled Laura Ashley style dress! It survived to become a maternity dress in the late 80s.
Omg I want to make a dress or skirt like this for my niece!!!For the iron/AC issue, could you run a long extension cord from another room so each appliance is on a different circuit? Re marking the quarter-point on ruffles, as long as there's enough width so that the non-gathered edge is relatively smooth, you can measure the required distances there and transfer the marks up to the gathered edge following the grainline.
@@LadyRebeccaFashions There are heavy-duty extension cords made for power tools, but that's definitely a valid concern and I understand not wanting to take that chance :)
Awww. Dress is so adorable!! But I love all things AG 😉 This stiffer fabric may have worked better for the plain or tucked skirt but this dress is full of cuteness 🫶🧵
That is a cute dress. It could be a nice addition to Rebecca Rubin's collection. I'm guessing you gave your Evette doll tights and drawers from one of your historical dolls?
@@LadyRebeccaFashions its a great name! 😄. I enjoyed watching your doll clothes playlist too! I think making outfits in miniature is a great idea for trying out styles and being creative without having to invest a huge amount of time and money - and storage lol. I wouldn't mind seeing more doll outfit videos if and when you feel like making any 🩵
fashion wise I love the 1900's and 1910's, HATE the 1920's, yes I'm odd I know. Just thinks 20's fashion was ugly. also like jeans and t shirts so hey!
That's great that you did. I'm going to my Halloween store in Florence. It's called Spirit Halloween and it's the Halloween store in the United States celebrating 41 years.

It’s when I see clothes like this that I truly understand how much of Laura Ashley’s 1970s designs were historically inspired.
What a cute lil dress!! It'll look darling on any of your dolls!! So cute!! ❤❤❤

Such a sweet little dress!! Always enjoy American girl doll creations. 😊
Sewing little clothes is so hard. It turned out very cute. Nicely done.
What a lovely shade of blue! Rebecca would look lovely In it!

I would love a dress like that for myself, colour and everything. So beautiful!
So cute, can't wait to see how the full sized dress looks. ❤
Lovely. The pattern looks easier than the ones I remember using years ago

Cotton lawn?
That dress is so sweet. I was voting for the tucks, but I love ruffles.
Heaviness aside, that's a beautiful fabric. Just love you AG videos and will check out the pattern!
Super cute! I do like that fabric even if it wasn’t the best for this project. I’m glad you had fun!
Thanks!

Gorgeous dress.
Thanks!
That is adorable! The velvet belt was a nice touch.
Thanks!
The dress is beautiful!!!
Thanks!
Oh my goodness I did not understand a word you were saying, but I’m hoping to learn sewing soon, so once I learn and come back it was make sense 😂❤
This would be a really cute cosplay, too!
I like making doll clothes.
So very cute!! I love when you do these smaller projects in between the bigger ones. Maybe plan one a month?
Thanks! They're nice little breaks.

I would worry about an appliance requiring that much power on a long extension cord.

Love to see life size version too.
I definitely am going to - I just have to find the right fabric!
Adorable!
Thanks!
LOve this dress!

Thanks! And yep, I have a bunch of spare tights and bloomers.
💙💙💙💙
Honestly I'd have done the whole thing by hand... I bet that would be nice in a sheer batiste.
Cute! Not every project has to be a big one ❤. did you settle on a name for your new doll yet?
Thanks! And yep, sticking with Chloe - it suits her.

I agree! The twenties is a love-hate period for me - I like 1920 - 1924, but after that, blecch.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of the 20s either.
I would make the one of version of the dress if you wanted an easy project
Ok, so now we are ready for the human size of this dress!
