Around Sri Lanka Road Trip: Day 5 - From Nilaveli Beach to Jaffna on my XR250 Baja
On Day 5 of our "Around Sri Lanka Road Trip," we begin with the serene Nilaveli Beach, then journey through significant historical and memorial sites, ending the day at the northernmost point of Sri Lanka and the Thal Sevana Army Resort in Jaffna. Riding my trusty XR250 Baja, we continue to explore the island’s diverse landscapes and rich history.
Morning: Nilaveli Beach
We start our day with the soothing waves and golden sands of Nilaveli Beach. This beautiful beach offers a perfect morning of relaxation and enjoyment. We can take a swim in the clear waters, stroll along the shore, or simply soak in the peaceful ambiance of this coastal paradise.
Midday: Gamini Kularathna War Memorial at Elephant Pass
After a relaxing morning, we head towards Elephant Pass, a location of strategic importance during the Sri Lankan Civil War. Here, we visit the Gamini Kularathna War Memorial, dedicated to a hero of the war. The memorial is a solemn tribute to bravery and sacrifice, offering a poignant reminder of the island's turbulent past. We take time to reflect on the significance of this site and pay our respects to those who fought here.
Afternoon: Kudarappu Lighthouse in Nagar Kovil
Next, we ride to Nagar Kovil to visit the Kudarappu Lighthouse, a historical tower that has guided sailors for decades. Evening: Arrival at Thal Sevana Army Resort in Jaffna
