Coleus are so underrated as plants. They are so pretty. They are easy to propagate. They are easy-going, pretty happy plants. I love them! Thank you for the video Pam!
A friend had some half dead little coleus cooking on a porch. Just 2 months later they are big gorgeous girls at MY HOUSE! 😁 May need to up-pot soon! So, WOOHOO!
This has been one of the most concise and informative videos on coleus care I have come across. Thank you for showing us the difference between the coleus that gets full light vs. one that doesn't, examples like that are super beneficial.
I am a new plant mom, and I bought my first coleus about 3 months ago and kept it outside on my east facing front porch. The lighting worked well and made the plant flourish, but it kept getting eaten each time it grew more beautifully. Then I saw one indoors in a video, and so I just brought her in this morning. She is now in a west facing window, and I have a feeling she's going to be even happier now. Thank you for such an informative video :)
girl you could not have posted this at a more perfect time! I got my first coleus this summer and I was thinking, how the hell am I supposed to overwinter this? 😂 thank you for the tips. I didnt know they were prone to mildew. I'll have to keep an eye out.
O.M.G this is exactly what I needed. I was told by a plant nursery employee that I would not be able to have this plant indoors - *CLEARLY* she was wrong! I have several cuttings that have rooted nicely in water. I’m happy to report that after watching your video they are happily potted in soil. Ughh.. I hate when ppl give out incorrect information - I was literally going throw the rooted cuttings out. Thank you!! 🙏🏾
I was gifted some cuttings by my partners barber a few months ago. The barber has a massive lush plant in his shop window and I was in awe! 😍 Did I know anything about it? No! Am I glad I’ve kept it in jar of water until now? Yes! I literally potted him up today as he is looking a bit worse for wear as are some of my other plants in the same room. It’s just turned spring in the UK and I’m hoping that with the correct lighting and your excellent tips I can get it thriving. Thank you so much!
I always thought that was an outdoor plant, and then I started bringing them in and taking care of them in the house. They put color to the green plants.
Thanks Pam. I never brought my coleus plants in from the outside during the winter months and just started over every spring with a new breed of plants. I am so inspired by your video. My plants are HUGE. So.....come on inside my beauties!!!!
I just did some cuttings on my coleus this is my first one for the year I love them I shared with my neighbor because it was so big I brought some men and put them in a glass container for the winter
Heat wave last two weeks. 107 outside, up to 90 inside. Coleus took a hit. Dropping leaves like crazy. Couldn’t take blanket layers off windows so too little light. Cut back a bit. Found a spot where theycan get 3 hrs of light in morning. Thankfully recovering. Good news is cuttings are rocking out so will have plenty of color in house for winter❤️ Thanks for great presentation!
Coleus is my favourite but I too have always only grown it outdoors, I have about 6 varieties growing right now but have decided to propagate them to grow indoors as I am in zone 3 with long, harsh winters. Glad I found your channel :)
Poor man's plant SO true!! Loving these tips, the one about the amount of sun affecting the color should have been so obvious, but it was an "ah ha" moment for me. My issue with my coleus is I now have 6 of them around the house from one cutting, (and 7 outside in the yard) but I feel bad if I don't propagate when I trim them back! Help! I think I have a little problem😂😉
Hello! A friend gave me a poorly coleus which had been left out in the cold at the start of Autumn. I had to look up what it was and have since been looking after it. Put it in a nice new pot and watered....keeping it indoors. Inside 12hrs it had started to improve!!! I've trimmed it a bit as it was very leggy and had long flowers. Your video has been really helpful and I'm confident I've caught this lovely plant just in time. Will keep tuning in as your style of video is great. Thanks for the coleus advice.
Thanks for a very informative video, and for suggesting we watch On the Ledge Podcast #62 ( which I will be doing next). I enjoyed watching, learning, and hopefully keeping my coleus growing.
I'm glad I watched your vid. My coleus was not getting enough sun and it started to drop leaves then wasn't getting enough water and is dropping leaves... so now I've got basically a twig with 5 leaves. But I have moved it to a morning sun window and watered it, hopefully it will grow more new leaves..
I had coleus last year and I let it die for the winter cause I didn’t know that it can survive indoors too. Now I know what to do. Thanks for your informative video.
Pam thank you so much for that link to the podcast coleus the host of that podcast has over a hundred podcast about plants. I have insomnia really bad and I try to listen to a book on tape on TH-cam. Last night I listened to the podcast about plants. she has some very very interesting plants that she talks about! This goes to that #planty kindness project .... we never know how easy it is for us to the world a better place and one little thing that we don't think means anything has a great effect on someone else's life! And in your case it's a great kindness to me to have something to listen to when I can't sleep and yet it helps me fall asleep even if I don't stay asleep... It's still there to Listen to If I wake up again thank you again from the bottom of my heart! And God bless you and your son and all of your beautiful plants!
Oh this makes me so happy!! I struggle with sleep problems too, I get 4 hours a night if I’m lucky. You have my love!! When you listen to episode 100 listen for a familiar voice and you’ll find I understand that comfort entirely :) I’m going to share this with Jane, she will be so happy. 💚💚
Just to let you know I listen using the earbuds in my cell phone that way it becomes almost like a white noise. But I do listen and learn before I fall asleep and if I wake back up on her podcast it shuts my cellphone off witch helps the battery other TH-cam channels keep the screen on. So if I wake up I just go back to where I think I fell asleep and listen to some more so I do get more than 4 hours of sleep because I'm retired I'm 70 years old right now so I don't have to get up at a certain time. When I was substitute teaching after retiring from teaching it was really tough only getting a few hours sleep and then going in to take care of someone's classroom. Tell her God bless her and her work with her podcast I have left her comments and click the like button or the thumbs up button.
@@PamsPrettyPlants I also wanted to tell you I have quite a coleus collection I made a coleus video earlier in the summer and showed all my coleus plants that I got from cuttings. I'm going to do an update on my coleus and I made a video on the unique coleus that grow from seed that is a tri Leaf coleus it has three rows of leaves at each juncture instead of just two. Unfortunately the side shoots that come out there are three of them for each set of leaves but they don't have that three characteristic and the plant broke so all I have are part of the parent plant in other words small branches of the main stem. I wonder if some seed company or plant company would like to have it maybe they can get the DNA or something from it it makes a bushier plant that's for sure
Oh my gosh I’d love to see your coleus!! I’ll check for videos! I was a substitute teacher for a while and it was TOUGH. Especially because I wasn’t sleeping more than a few hours. I do the same thing with podcasts while I sleep. I like to think I’m learning even while I sleep! Have an awesome Sunday Kathleen!! Thanks so much for watching 💚
I, too, remember when coleus were only houseplants. Upon being inspired by your video, I picked up a 1 quart plant for $2, cuttings galore, and a couple stems from outdoors when we had a frost warning.
Mid-summer one of my neighbor's heard I was a house plant person, brought me a huge coleus plant. As I love to try rooting cuttings from various plants, I am so happy at how many cuttings I am putting into potting soil. Look out neighbors here they come, and thank you Pam for your video.
I used to grow Coleus in my bedroom as a teen..then I went years not growing indoor plants at all, we just grew plants indoor without much fuss, plants seem to be more touchy these days . Now 30 odd years later I find Coleus are getting planted outside haha. Going to try and over winter some indoors this year if I can get it out of the garden b4 it frosts ☺
I’ve got coleus currently growing beautifully indoors. I’ve had them long ago but never put them outside. Now all I can think of is where they will be planted next spring after the last freeze! Also, I didn’t know there’re so many varieties. Good video…thanks 🌺
Thank you for this video. Educational and you have a great sense of humor too. Now I have the courage to trim my beautiful crazy looking Coleus and get another plant started! ❤
I came to this channel to learn more about coleus cuttings. I purchased some for outdoor & they are huge & beautiful. I noticed the same thing about their colors based on how much sun they get. Surprisedly they can handle deep shade as well. Appreciate this video. TY!
Where I live, in Stockholm, EVERYONE has this plant at home. They are so trendy and loved. And on TH-cam? Crickets. This is one of the few videos I've found on this beauty. Such an easy, pretty and fun plant. Thank you for this video:)
Hi Fredrika!! I found the same thing when I went looking for videos on how to pinch mine! I think they’re going to catch on in the states soon. For now I’m ok with being Queen Coleus of Haus TH-cam until everyone else catches up to us. 😂
Coleus was the first houseplant I was able to keep alive when I first got into houseplants, they're great! I've been collecting cuttings from around the city since the summer containers are turning over to fall designs- I'm amazed at all the variety. Great video :)
Erin Fox I have a bunch of coleus also I had three mother plants I kept over the winter. And then I added three more plants from the nursery this year plus ones that I grew from seed that were interesting so I'm trying to save them also so I may have like around 10 or more coleus in for the winter. I have my own TH-cam channel and I did a video on my coleus earlier this year and all my cuttings now I am going to do one and post about a hundred or so coleus plants I have now counting cuttings that I took from the mother plants and once I Grew From two packages of seeds. I was like the old lady who had so many children she didn't know what to do you know the one in the fairy tale that lived in the shoe. I have so many clothes so I don't know what to do. I was wondering if you might want to trade some cuttings if I have some you don't have and you have some I don't have. Do you have a TH-cam channel
Lol! I just pinched a really cool variety from a landscaped area at a shopping center. I was so afraid I was going to get in trouble. Plant obsession probs!
@@candipoox I have done the same thing I was at a doctors appointment an hour and a half away from me one summer and I took a couple cuttings unfortunately I've lost all of my plants because of something that happened in my life but I've got my collection back of house plants orchids and coleus. Try growing some coleus from seed and Watch What Happens you want to keep the special ones alive. I even had one that I had three sets of leaves instead of two sets of leaves on that square stem and then alternating it had three sets of leaves I've been trying to keep the main stem alive but it's not working out. The sad part is when you cut the tip which I didn't realize the little branches that come out when you cut the growing tip only have the alternate two by two leaves. I've kept them alive hopefully for the winter and maybe next year I can get it to bloom and maybe it'll throw off some 3 leaves instead of two alternating. I should have let it go to see but I wasn't thinking when I pinched it. Coleus are so much fun and a completely different way than house plants
Thank you for this video! I just recently got into Coleus (I bought my first like a year ago, did nothing to contain it because I didn't know so it got incredibly leggy and ugly and so I started googling and TH-cam) - and I love your style! I have proceeded to watch a lot of your videos on indoor plants! Thank you again ☺️
Long story short I got a coleus for my birthday & it brightens my days 🥰 I just took a cutting to see if I can root it. They remind me of my grandma she always had them in her yard. This is my first one 😊
Thank you for all this good information. I planted my first coleus this summer outdoors as I had no idea I could have it indoors. I live in zone 9. My four coleus did fantastic at first but started dying in September. Here I thought I could have them year after year. Yes, I’m a newbie to anything gardening. 😂 I figured I could take some cuttings before all the plant stems turned black. 🤷🏻♀️ Now I have a couple pots full with cuttings and hopefully I can have them for years to come.
That method has worked for me with the coleus I’ve had for 10 years! I’ve noticed some varieties (the more colorful ones) tend to die back faster if they’re left to flower than my hardy old red one. I lost most of mine over summer to thrips and neglect. 😭
Hi - Today I purchased Coleus from Wal-Mart. This plant is a favor that I once enjoyed in my younger days, though I am not a dinosaur just yet. 😂 I have never had one in doors to survive, though I believe I can do it. I have indoor grow lights that I believe this will help. I actually could not believe that Wal-Mart was selling them because we have had some frost lately in Virginia, today being Oct/29/2022. love the color that they provide and not only that I love to watch things grow. Of course, I don't sit there staring for days that would be rude to the plant. 🙃 I like your video and your humor and so I thought I would pass some humor your way. Ok, at least I tried. Have a blessed day. 💛
I'm one of the people who only thought they were outdoor plants. Whenever I tried indoor growing, they would drop almost all of their leaves or get crispy leaves. So because I hated having them die off come late fall, which would always make me so sad, I kind of stopped growing them even outside. Maybe I'll give one a try inside and see how it goes. I do love them. They bring back memories of both my youth and my dad because they were one of my fathers favorites and he always had them growing. Thanks for sharing yours tips and for posting this video.
Aw I love plants that have memories attached like that. My nana was a big fan of hyacinth so I buy them every spring 💚 Your coleus might have had too much sun and too little water. That’s what my plant did when I baked it in the south window. Whoops!
Man am I glad I clicked on this! Great information. I desperately need to cut my inferno coleus back. I have no idea what I'm doing with my houseplants so I'll definitely be subscribing! Lol. 😊
Thank you this was very very helpful and this is my 1st year overwintering collius it is nice to know that II had good instincts and was doing mostly what you were doing anyway . thank you
Hi I had some very strong coleuses indoors but 😢 they started dying little by little. After viewing this presentation I now hav hope to try some things. Thank you I will keep you posted.😉👍🏾
I picked up an indoor coleus plant but at the time it didn’t have a name. I went to research about it and found your video. Thank you ever so much for the wonderful information and now I can’t wait to put that information to good use. Wish me luck!
Thank you SOOOOO much! I got my Coleus as a gift and she's been suffering very badly! My husband named her Diana (Princess) bc he hopes I can get her to live! Can't wait to watch more of your Coleus suggestions!
I am a garden newbe. This year I dived in sprouting my own plats from seed. I put them in a west facing plant box: lobelia to trail; petunia, non of them sprouted :-(; Geranium they’re looking good Marigolds, got my first flower today And finally Colius for a backing of color. My Colius look about the same size as they did when I took them out the propergator over a fortnight ago. They are so small. I was expecting them to grow the most vigorously. Think I might go pruning old leaves, might encourage a bit of movement. Thank you for posting this video. It was interesting for me to see the feelings you have for your indoor friends. 💛🙂👍
Hear you can see my plant box, and how small the Colius beside the other plants. And the Colius was one of the first seeds I planted too. drive.google.com/file/d/1c19rcyu_Q8FROk6UzwrI-EnDvnE0Pfd4/view?usp=drivesdk
Years and years ago I bought a 4 inch potted coleus. It grew up to the 8 foot ceiling and all the way across the dining room ceiling. It was amazing. I left it when I moved. No way cold I move it. I did take cuttings though. I just brought in three coleus plants from the yard. Of course the walrus kitty jumped right in the middle and broke one off way back so I am rooting them in water so far so good. I ADORE your almost black one. OH MY to die for. Thanks for this. I LOVE the color and My new Croton is also very dramatic. LOL
@@PamsPrettyPlants I was not into cameras then so no photos of it darn. Well I just got notice my plants arrived in Boise tonight at 7:25. They will be here by 11 tomorrow. Oh Goody. So wondering what is going to be in the bundle. AND I just discovered I have some baby leaves coming on my newly board mounted stag horn fern. This is big for me. I have never been able to keep one alive. So far so good. It came in a pot. I mounted it to the board. Si excited.
I never owned plants, but I killed a few of my grandma's lol I thought I would never have any, unless it is a cactus or something immortal. But a few weeks ago, we went to a beautiful local botanical garden and ended up in a plant sale. There were hundreds of plants: flowers, bushes, succulents, dozens of types of cactuses, and many, many more. They were so cheap, our coffee was twice as expensive, and I live in a pretty "cheap" country. And there, I found a little red coleus. I was so amazed by how beautiful (and how cheap) it is, I immediately decided to buy it. So yeah, I am a proud coleus owner now. I have never had a plant as forgiving as this one. I once forgot to water it, and it was a very hot weekend, I thought it is on its verge of death. But it thrived even more after that. Signed myself off a "potential plant murderer" list. Planning to get more plants now!
Coleus is such a forgiving plant and it is very pretty. I have one with miniature leaves in my window box. The information you've just given is like no other, I didn't know that you can plant them indoors and thats what I'm doing tomorrow.
Purchased my first coleus a few weeks ago. It likes the outside and I want to try to over-winter it. Thanks for your informative video. Looking forward to learning a lot more from you.
I took some cuttings near a trail I bike on, exactly like this red one you have, and put them in an aeroponic/dwc cloner that I built They started showing tons of 1cm roots on Day 4, and now on Day 12 they are almost 6 inches long and I can barely see the stems anymore! By far one of the easiest plants I've ever tried to root
My mother had coleous' inside the entire time I was growing up. She was very good with them. I tried a couple of times but gave up. Now that you have given instructions on how to raise and take care of them, I'll try them again. Thanks!
I propagate my coleus and now it is huge and made a whole separate pot. Going to cut down the mother plant and trade them at a plant exchange/give them to family
Great video! I have a couple of French Quarter's and they're outside. Every time I've had them indoors, I've killed them. They're doing well, flowering and everything outside. I want that burgundy/deep red one you have.
Thanks for this great video! You answered so many questions I had. Last year was the first time I had a coleus outside. Before our first freeze I dug it up and moved it inside and it's been doing so well. I hope to move it back outside late next spring after breakup.
So glad I could be helpful! They’re easy plants once you understand them, I’m happy to hear you’re having success! Good luck with the transition back outside!
Here’s part two on rehabbing a leggy coleus: th-cam.com/video/X_AHeMksJak/w-d-xo.html I’m happy to answer questions in the comments but PLEASE watch the whole video first.
You sure do make it sound easy and your stunning coleus plants prove you know what your doing. I'll have to watch this and your other coleus videos a number of times to work up the courage to give it a go. 👍😁🌿
I just got a pack of coleus seeds today (Park seed Giant exhibition) Super excited to germinate them. Watched a number of you tube videos on coleus, this one had some great info.
Thank you Vicki! I had trouble finding good info on them so when I got enough experience and info I tried to make the video I wish I had. So happy to hear it was helpful!
So glad I found this channel! I bought a coleus to keep inside, thinking it was an annual and that I would lose it this fall, but no! This is excellent news!
I was shopping for seeds and almost all the info I found on coleus was for outdoor. I live in an apartment without so much as a patio so outdoor planting isn't an option for me. I can't for the life of me figure out why people aren't using these as houseplants lol. They are gorgeous and I'm sold on them.
I love Coleus💕 I am going to start a new kind today and hopefully it will survive the winter indoors this year..my cuttings few years ago gave up😥 thank you for sharing yours🎶
Thank you. This vid provided me with everything I needed to know. I just caught the Coleus "bug" and want to propagate it, so I can always have some around. Subscribed.
Soooo happy to see this video. My very first houseplant was a coleus. I get it up a homemade trellis to four by five feet and lost it during a winter move. I am currently rebuilding my coleus collection they are awesome plants inside and out and your care tips are spot on!
Omg now I have to try and trellis one because you’re not the first person to say that! That sucks you lost it but that just means you get more! 😍 thanks for watching!
Great info! I’m going to give it a try. The thing is, I live in a zone that rarely gets any kind of freeze over the winter. So I’m not sure why my plants don’t usually make it. We do get nights that dip down into the 40’s and maybe into the 30s once or twice over the winter. Maybe that’s too cold. But I have very little light indoors-I suppose I could get a couple of grow lights. Thanks again for the great info!
Anything below 50 degrees is going to cause problems for coleus. I suspect the way the leaves hold moisture on their surface contributes to mold and fungal spot issues very quickly in damp cool weather as well. It’s hard for a plant with such fine roots to avoid rot in those conditions. Grow lights will absolutely help! I wish you good luck!
Coleus were my first plants : they are so beautiful and so forgiving they made me believe I was a plant specialist 🤣
Hahaha same!! 😂
Try growing succulents...
Same one of my first.
I am a beginner and I love these are so easy and gorgeous LOL
❤
".. I'm used to having a poor-man's everything.." lol I feel that.
Coleus are so underrated as plants. They are so pretty. They are easy to propagate. They are easy-going, pretty happy plants. I love them! Thank you for the video Pam!
Could you say they’re similar to Purple Hearts as a easy forgiving plant?
I’ve never grown a Purple Heart so I’m afraid I’m not sure!
“I keep my humidity hoes in the bathroom”, so funny. :) The goth in me needs that Othello.
It’s so freaking cool! Mine kinda suffered after I got it for a while but it came back swinging!
I thought I was the only one that grew coleus inside...cool 😎
A friend had some half dead little coleus cooking on a porch. Just 2 months later they are big gorgeous girls at MY HOUSE! 😁 May need to up-pot soon! So, WOOHOO!
Ok this is the first video of your that I’ve seen. You crack me up!!! I’ll be watching all of them now. “Humidity Hoes” 😂😂
They ain’t loyal!
1st Time! Loved it, I need to go out and buy a coleus plants NOW! Thank You Pam, see ya❣️

Coleus is one of my favourite ornamental plants! They will look compact when grown under bright sun. ♥️
A wealth of information. So many questions answered in one place. I have always loved Coleus and never realized there was so much to know.

They can grow to be giant bushes!

I have a beautiful coleus outside that I want to bring indoor... thanks for the tips!
Good luck!! Thanks for watching, Valentina!
i love coleus and u gave me confident to over winter instead of buying every summer. Thanks
My absolute pleasure! Good luck with your overwintering!
I was so worried about my coleus but now I’m less worried and happy to have these tips so my very very tall coleus can look bushier 😅
Just bought a "Mainstreet La Rambla" Beautiful foliage and I will be keeping it indoors. Thanks so much I subscribed. Sara
I, too, remember when coleus were only houseplants. Upon being inspired by your video, I picked up a 1 quart plant for $2, cuttings galore, and a couple stems from outdoors when we had a frost warning.
Yesss #teamcoleus
I just bought some small pots of coleus for a $1 each! I'm excited to see how much they grow. Thanks for this video! It was super helpful
You are so welcome!
I have a gazillion in my small house so an obsessed. Thank you so much!
I just brought some and watched your video to take care of they will be indoor plants for the most part. Fingers crossed
Mid-summer one of my neighbor's heard I was a house plant person, brought me a huge coleus plant. As I love to try rooting cuttings from various plants, I am so happy at how many cuttings I am putting into potting soil. Look out neighbors here they come, and thank you Pam for your video.
Yay! I hope they grow strong for you 🥰
I started a bunch from seed!! My first year growing them from seed! I got some really cool colors!!!
I have bought my first mixed seed pack...excited to get started..so glad l saw your video as most videos only show outdoor
Greetings from Abu dhabi
Oh good luck with your seeds!! :)
I am just getting into this type of plant - I feel an obsession growing
Yes! You can do it! Thanks for the nice compliments 🥰
I came to this channel to learn more about coleus cuttings. I purchased some for outdoor & they are huge & beautiful. I noticed the same thing about their colors based on how much sun they get. Surprisedly they can handle deep shade as well. Appreciate this video. TY!
I love your style ! And I adore Coleuses. Bravo from France !
I bought my first Coleus today hoping I could grow it indoors. Thank you for this video!!
@@PamsPrettyPlants Yes!!!! Thank you again✌🏻🌸👌🏻
Coleus was the first houseplant I was able to keep alive when I first got into houseplants, they're great! I've been collecting cuttings from around the city since the summer containers are turning over to fall designs- I'm amazed at all the variety. Great video :)
Erin Fox i was walking through Beacon Hill the other day and was soooo tempted to pinch cuttings from every window box!! 😂
@@kathleenmurphy2379 I got some seeds from one that was flowing at a nursery and just planted my first. I have 4 babies so far!
Yay!! What an awesome gift! 😍
Thank for watching!! 💚
Thank you for the lesson. My coleus are living outdoors and I’ve just pinched them back. I want them to be full!
Hi , I watched three other videos before yours and I like it the best ! Really good information,I love this plant . Thank you
So nice of you! Thank you!
You had me at #humidityhoes 🤣🤣👍🏾 I NEEDED these tips! Thank you!!🙏🏾
Hahah you’re welcome!!
I think I’m going to grow some outdoors this spring/summer in pots so that I can bring them in during the winter
Try it! You got this!
My nana was a big fan of hyacinth so I buy them every spring 💚
Your coleus might have had too much sun and too little water. That’s what my plant did when I baked it in the south window. Whoops!
Lol "I went to school for writing, not for speaking." Instant Like and subscribe!!
😂💚💚💚
Man am I glad I clicked on this! Great information. I desperately need to cut my inferno coleus back. I have no idea what I'm doing with my houseplants so I'll definitely be subscribing! Lol. 😊
Thank you this was very very helpful and this is my 1st year overwintering collius it is nice to know that II had good instincts and was doing mostly what you were doing anyway . thank you
I love when that happens!
I do have indoor coleus plant so beautiful two coleus together
i picked up a basic coleus at lowes because my grandma and i thought it was pretty😜 now i have to figure out how to take care of it!
Such great info I got some cuttings and left them all long so now I will cut them all much shorter thanks to your information
Hi I had some very strong coleuses indoors but 😢 they started dying little by little. After viewing this presentation I now hav hope to try some things. Thank you I will keep you posted.😉👍🏾
Good luck Renee!
I picked up an indoor coleus plant but at the time it didn’t have a name. I went to research about it and found your video. Thank you ever so much for the wonderful information and now I can’t wait to put that information to good use. Wish me luck!
thank you! have just brought in my gorgeous multi colour coleus - Fall is here - have near my sliders that get southern and western exposure.
Wow I never knew you could grow coleus indoors, I'm in Barbados and have only 16 varieties. Nice video
Thank you SOOOOO much! I got my Coleus as a gift and she's been suffering very badly! My husband named her Diana (Princess) bc he hopes I can get her to live! Can't wait to watch more of your Coleus suggestions!
Lol @ the name! Good luck!!
I am a garden newbe. This year I dived in sprouting my own plats from seed. I put them in a west facing plant box:
lobelia to trail;
petunia, non of them sprouted :-(;
Geranium they’re looking good
Marigolds, got my first flower today
And finally Colius for a backing of color.

Ooops, Coleus
Told y I was new :-)
Years and years ago I bought a 4 inch potted coleus. LOL
Hi Chris!! That is so crazy!! I have never seen one grow that big but I believe it!!
I also have a walrus kitty who breaks plants with his arse. 😂
💚💚💚
Good luck with the drama queen croton!
Si excited.
Woo!! Congrats on the staghorn!! I haven’t tried mounting mine yet!
@@PamsPrettyPlants I was terrified to do it . It was not as hard as expected. Watched Planterina's video on how to do it.
Thank you so much for your wisdom about call your flowers
I never owned plants, but I killed a few of my grandma's lol
I thought I would never have any, unless it is a cactus or something immortal.
I just love those mini-leaved ones
Thank you! Just got my first coleus Black Dragons!! I love them. I'm so happy they will last forever. Great video.💜🙏🏽💜
Have some rooting now… can’t wait to try this. Thank you so much
Every time I have a plant question (not very often) I always come to ur channel and u have exactly the info I want to know! Thanks!!
Purchased my first coleus a few weeks ago. It likes the outside and I want to try to over-winter it. Thanks for your informative video. Looking forward to learning a lot more from you.
Wanderful
Coleus is a indoor plant
Thank you so much mam for sharing video on TH-cam 👍👍👍👍👍
I took some cuttings near a trail I bike on, exactly like this red one you have, and put them in an aeroponic/dwc cloner that I built
They started showing tons of 1cm roots on Day 4, and now on Day 12 they are almost 6 inches long and I can barely see the stems anymore!
By far one of the easiest plants I've ever tried to root
Yesss, I’ve always wanted a cloner for propping purposes! I always tell people they root like tomatoes!
Thank you so much for answering my GUESTION I did just as you said I have to move it more into the sun
My mother had coleous' inside the entire time I was growing up. She was very good with them.
I tried a couple of times but gave up.
Now that you have given instructions on how to raise and take care of them, I'll try them again.
Thanks!
You can do it!! I think the varieties matter too, some seem more hardy than others. Let me know how you do!! 💚💚
I propagate my coleus and now it is huge and made a whole separate pot. Going to cut down the mother plant and trade them at a plant exchange/give them to family
I just love your sense of humor. I feel the same way about croton plants.
F*ck those things!
Here’s part two on rehabbing a leggy coleus: th-cam.com/video/X_AHeMksJak/w-d-xo.html
I’m happy to answer questions in the comments but PLEASE watch the whole video first.
First year for me, I've raised some from seed. LOVE your advice!
@@richardk646 I just planted seeds for 1st time & their about an inch big. I got 3 pacs from $Tree for 5cents surprised they even sprouted.🌻💃
My grandma had these as house plants in the 1970’s
What I wouldn’t give to take a tour of my nana and moms 70s plant collections!
You sure do make it sound easy and your stunning coleus plants prove you know what your doing. I'll have to watch this and your other coleus videos a number of times to work up the courage to give it a go. 👍😁🌿
Thank you for watching!! I really beat up that Rediculous one for years and it kept coming back, they are easy once you get the hang of their needs! 💚
It’s a whole new wooooorld
I was shopping for seeds and almost all the info I found on coleus was for outdoor. I live in an apartment without so much as a patio so outdoor planting isn't an option for me. I can't for the life of me figure out why people aren't using these as houseplants lol. They are gorgeous and I'm sold on them.
I love Coleus💕 I am going to start a new kind today and hopefully it will survive the winter indoors this year..my cuttings few years ago gave up😥 thank you for sharing yours🎶
Great video. Thanks. Most plant videos don’t hold my attention. I am also a coleus fan.
Thank you so much Anna, that makes me happy. I have ADHD so I try to keep my videos tailored to my own short attention span 😅
Thank you. This vid provided me with everything I needed to know. I just caught the Coleus "bug" and want to propagate it, so I can always have some around. Subscribed.
Jesus !!!!!!....very instructive video......AMAZING !!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏 Thank You for sharing with us .
Ah! I’m so glad you found it helpful! I couldn’t find much info on indoor coleus so f it I’ll make it myself 😂💚
Coleus are my favorIt’s plants!!! Love them indoors too!!! Great video!!!! 👍🏼🌱
They're awesome!! Thanks for watching!
