I've had my Yojimbo 2 for several years. Love the fact the Wharncliffe blade can be a utilitarian blade but a nasty self-defense blade also...especially from a legal standpoint.

I just got one for my bday and it's now my fav Spyderco. I always carry a full size knife and a small knife, so I either carry my Spydie CruCarta PM2 with my Chaves TAK, or I carry my Yojimbo 2 and a MKM Voxnaes in M390

Yojimbo or 用心棒 is an old Japanese term meaning a bodyguard. So the name really fits the style.

I started with a Spyderco Shaman. Was a bit small for my hand. Eventually switched to a Yojumbo, the larger version of the Yojimbo2. It’s the only knife a carry for CCW. I train with a Yojimbo2 trainer. Also important, and you didn’t discuss is the shape and purpose of the heel of the handle. It makes for a heck of a mean hammerfist!

Geeze.. Great video , and great knife. I grabbed a CB nco and trainer a ways back. Intuitive, fast ,and effective. Solid instructional videos too. Good luck. I don't think you can find them.
I have been carrying this blade for EDC going on 2 years now. It is a great blade. The blade designer Michael Janich is a great knife trainer. Watching his training videos is how I learned about this knife. Anyone into knifes and plan on using a knife for a self defense option, check out Michael Janich. He is the real deal.

If you like the colonel knife, the closest model from Spyderco would be the introvert. It’s also discontinued but still available from blades Canada. Cheers

I really wish wise men would make a ring for this like they did for the PM2 Delica and Endura. This is the perfect knife for it and a wave feature.

I love my yo 2 I carry it ALOT but it still doesn’t replace my para 3 😉
I've had a yojimbo from a while now and they would be great for both. The wharncleiff blade design is excellent useful

The provoke is awrsome I wish it wasn't so expensive though.
And as far as a hawk bill only being for self defence i thought that too but they're amayzing for cutting box's or anything that isn't super deep the blade eats whateveer the tip brings to the belly with ease.
Love my Yojimbo... wish I carried it more but, it takes up a lot of room in the pocket. As far as performance, it’s hard to beat the piercing and slicing capabilities. This things straight CUTS!

really cool knife. I love the look and profile of this knife. I haven't handled this knife yet in person, but I wonder if it is too wide for a convenient EDC blade. I would think it takes up a lot of space in the pocket? What do you think about how much space it takes up in pocket? thanks man
It definitely takes or more than most because of the shape but it’s not enough that I haven’t carried the knife because of it.
I'm not really into tactical selfdefence blades so much, and I prefer a slimmer profile edc. Right now my main edc is the mini Bugout. I would love to know what are some options for slim EDC selfdefence blades? Something within and 1 ½ inches of width.

Recently I have away my collection to a friend who lost all his knives in a fire. Today I picked up a Spyderco tenacious this will be my 2nd knife then the Para Military 2.

You knife guys and gals that are on the fence about buying a Yojimbo I highly recommend the knife junkies podcast he interviews Micheal Janich and he talks about making this knife.Its incredible I think I would rather get shot than go up against a yojimbo
I don't know why, but the Yojimbo 2 is my favorite blade to carry. I have the Blade HQ sprint run with the black coated M4 blade and natural G-10 scales......unfortunately I snapped the tip off on a soft piece of F!@#$%^ plastic of all things.

I have one and I really like it however after edc ing the para I wish the yojimbo had a larger hole like the para as I have big fingers. Otherwise beautiful knife

I'd get the Canis before the Yojimbo. But they're probably equally effective. I do like my EDC to be alright at food prep though, which is the reason I haven't bought it.

You don't need a big knife for self defense.The most important thing is knowing where to cut.

I carry a Colonel fixed blade knife. I’m an elderly lady with little knife training.
I really want this color combination but sadly not available in my local store. So sad. They only have 20cv black and tan which i dont like.
It's a great knife were the handle can be used as a kuboton, I've just sent for a black one, not expensive for a Colorado knife
Nice blade, but I still love my Paramilitary 2 (same spec as yours, aka. standard polished S30V with G10).
The spiritual successor to the Blackhawk Be Wharned (also designed by Janich).
Also why do knife people like g10 so much? Never had a g 10 handle not smooth out after a few months of edc micarta is super nice though.

I have other compression locks, but this one is pinching me every time I open it. Am I doing something wrong?
They're known for pinching unfortunately.
Ya might want to look around for a Kershaw Needs Work, it's a very similar knife except it's an assisted flipper. I don't think the blade steel holds it's edge quite as well but it feels great to hold and deploys like a beast.
I have the CF yojombo version. It’s been my edc ever since it came out. Amazing knife. Deep carry clip is my only mod

Basically for self defense, I would choose cold steel knives, especially those with 5 inch or longer blade. Small blade is only good for edc and open packages.
