I agree. Absolutely the best I've heard in 65 years!!!! I love Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Hank Locklin….But this combined performance is much more better. Another dimension.
Watching Shaye direct the others with hand and head gestures confirms what I've felt about the band: it is indeed a benevolent dictatorship run by Ms. Cohn where everyone gets a chance to participate in the party. I cannot get enough of Tuba Skinny!
keeping changes by raising her foot at times, passing off a solo or bringing the others back in by pointing her horn too...These little communicative things intrigue me about any sort of crew.
Why so few likes? It's awesome. They synergy between the musicians in this genre is humbling. Mutual appreciation, a meritocratic democracy if such thing exists.
Great performance. I love it. Tuba Skinny is my favorite band at all-time. And this is a great combination. I am looking forward to your band Potato Head Jazz Band. I am so excited. Regards from Germany
I'm really enjoying this combined performance, the bands are great together. This is the second clip I'm watching. As good as they have been, when do we hear something with Erika?
Would really like to see them in period clothes. A throwback to the 1920s. A recreation of that time and place. Their contemporary clothes is a distraction.
@Keith Clark Period-style clothes would be fine if Tuba Skinny were playing in a pizza parlor, opening a new pharmacy, performing in a casino or supporting jugglers in a circus. But suspenders and stripes show that a musician isn't serious or very skilled. Have a look at this article: www.lindylainey.com/blog/an-overview-of-jazz-era-fashion John Coltrane's uniform was "dark sport coats and understated button-downs, occasionally going for a full suit or something more casual, like a form-fitting polo." Greg Ruby, whose bands play period and contemporary styles, played here on Whidbey Island for DjangoFest this year. Some band members dress up, some dress down: gregrubymusic.com/videos/greg-ruby-quartet-easy-for-you-to-say/
My first reply had to do with taste. At its worst, period-style performance would be Al Jolson in black-face singing 'Mammy." But the second issue would be: What period? Tuba Skinny plays a huge variety of styles, including jug band, ragtime, early/middle/late trad, a variety of blues styles, R&B from New Orleans and elsewhere, swing, some country and gospel, originals and so on over more than half a century. What period style would the band wear to perform a Blind Blake or Louis Armstrong song? If you spend time imagining Tuba Skinny in some sort of period dress, you quickly realize that the concept is not only unpalatable, it is incoherent. The next step is to realize that whatever a band wears on stage is, in fact, a period style, and it would be fun to pursue this idea.
I just love how they compliment each other and enjoy the moment.
What can you say but wow that is good as good as it gets.
anyone else notice how much the banjo players look alike ? and as usual the music is just superb .
So great! Happiness!
Wow, how fantastic is this combination!!
Absolutely the best I've heard in 60 years!!!! Love you all!!!!!!

I agree. I wonder if she leads in other ways like composition and such?
@@danieldonohue3162 - I think that she does. They are simply incredible!
It´s not a dictatorship, she´s conducting the band and that´s a big difference.

1 x TS is fantastic! 2 x TS even more fantastic!
Hope TRUMP / JOHNSON / MERKEL / MACRON c.s. learn something of this collaboration.
Trump doesn't think he has anything to learn from anybody, and I'm not sure Johnson is any different.
Robert Duis ... Pour ceux à qui ça aurait échappé : th-cam.com/video/IV4IjHz2yIo/w-d-xo.html !
Quand verra-t-on Trump chanter ´Moscow nights ´ ?? 🤗🤗
@@lioneldarde1851 => Thanks for the video. Most people want Trump to sing "Yesterday".....:-))))) I think he deserves also some positive support.

A nice band named "Tuba Skinny" without a tuba. A sousaphone instead.
I miss a sax
!!!
Awesome band, camera person not so much.

Never. That's a ridiculous and demeaning idea. For all sorts of reasons.
Nonsense, sorry.
...concentrate on the music .... 😎
