I used to play this song back in the 2000s with my band. We were a power metal trio comprising of myself, my brother and my dad. My dad was in his late 40s at the time and I had to teach him Cliff's bass intro...and he learned it and nailed it and used to give it the full treatment every time we played it at gigs. I was so proud of him doing it. Last week my dad died. I'll always think of him when I play this song with a smile. Rock in peace to the best father a son could wish for.☺ \m/
It always does! I love that they try something new every tour, last year was flames, in 2019 everything went pitch black (this was my favourite, gave me chills).
@@robertlodder4744 to be completely honest with you, I have no idea. You can scroll through their Metallica Monday playlist with shows they livestreamed during the height of the covid pandemic.
I was there in the AT&T Stadium to see Metallica perform, it was my first time experiencing a concert and it had to be my favorite band of all time, THANK YOU METALLICA!!!! ❤🔥🤘🎸
That's great Mate 😁😁😁 For me the best entertainment always was live music big concert so I'm happy you enjoy your time. I saw band 2 times in Warsaw this year 2024 and it was epic maybe the best live event I've ever been in my life and I saw many bands live Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Slash, Foo Fighters, Guns Roses and many more.
Metallica absolutely slayed it both nights! For Whom the Bell Tolls was a favorite Sunday night and was so glad to share it with my 15 year old son who heard it for the first time! He's a fan for life now!
A cover band played this song at my cities annual anniversary celebration and they actually rung the main bell of the church for it, which is something I personally miss from the actual live performances of this song. Having the bell ring just gives it a lot more flare
This was my first Metallica concert! I saw it in the theater w my dad who doesn't love metal music too much, but we both got so hyped when they started playing this song!!!
Gosh I hope we get a Blu-Ray of both Arlington shows soon. I missed it and these videos are amazing. Everyone looks like they're having fun and James looks so healthy these days, I love it.
Saw them for the very first time in Hamburg this Tour. It was such a special night. Their energy is just special. You can feel how happy they are doing what there are born to do. The connection with their audience is just something else. One of the best (live) bands of all time. In their fkking 60s!!!! they sell out pretty much every fucking stadion all over the damn world. And rightfully so. Already ordered tickets for munich next year and started to count the days haha
I was THERE for both nights. Took my wife to see her first Metallica concert, and she LOVED it. Can't wait to see you guys again. Been with you since the Black Album, going to be listening to you until I'm at least 80!!!
Still getting goose bumps from this weekend. We were there in the snake pit, that $5k was 1000000% worth it to go and we go to a ton of concerts and get VIP….nothing beats Metallica and I’m not the biggest Metallica fan either but they are fucking incredible live. 2.5 hours twice in one weekend with different sets…start saving your money now
respect to metallica their old and mainly all their songs are hardcore and fast paste but even though their old they still rock them songs like they still young
@@ginge4189 His beats and fills on the original version were even better though, and Lars had only been playing it for probably a year or less at that time.
My grandma used to sing this to me as she would play Mario Bros 3 on NES as I drifted off to never never land. One week ago today my grandmother at the ripe old age of 113 finally graduated high school. Grandma you ROCK!
I've been listening to this for almost 40 years, that chug right after the intro and before the main riff is one of the greatest moments in metal. They could have made a whole song out of it, it's so heavy!!!
What a great show! Hadn’t seen them in 30 years- so incredibly glad I went!!! The band I was in during HS covered this and a few other Metallica songs, but I absolutely loved emulating Cliff with this intro… long live the metal militia!

Robert Trujillo he make a promise he won't let him down. :)
My respect for Robert
Fuckin beautiful 🏴🤘
Cliff still rules. But Rob is really good. Yes I believe Cliff is and has always smiled on Metallica 🤘
The effect on Rob's bass is so unique in the intro👌🏾🔥
Yes! 🤘
you can see the joy in their face while they playing this song...
ITs one of the most songs to play its really easy but so good
I can finally say that I was there for the first time in my life. Amazing concert

The best Metallica song ever. In fact the best Metal song of all time
His delivery of the line "its the last time you will" is so powerful on this version
“It’s an a$$ grabbing whale”

This may be the song I’ve heard the most in my life and it never gets old. When Kirk hits that riff it’s just magic.
Rob’s crab walk is unrivaled
get that camera man a raise for giving the bass players a full shot of rob’s version of the intro
Metallica is the most direct art, it enters through the ear and goes directly to the soul.
Metallica everyday is what metal is all about ❤
They are killing on this tour. Pure passion. Metal.
Being there that day, the energy in that stadium during this performance was immense. I miss it already

04:17 Kirk's pick falls and he plays the solo with his fingers until the end! Медиатор Кирка падает, и он играет соло пальцами до конца!

The song that really got me into everything Metallica.
I went to the first show, but not the second show at AT&T Stadium. I can't complain, seen them 18 times now over the last 37 years.😄

Metallica got a real treasure with Robert
Both nights were amazing. Glad to have been there.
The beginning of the song, when the guitars kick into that heavy riff was the coolest thing I heard from those two nights. So powerful in person.
Our band is kicking ass and taking names
Seeing kirk at the end just keep playing at the end when he dropped his pick made me smile
3:46 - That guitar wailing and screaming 😭 gave me goosebumps all over 😮💨
thats probably the coolest bass Rob ever used
