2005 Nissan Frontier Throtle Body Iddle Procedure

Accelerator Pedal Released Position, Throttle Valve Closed Position And Idle Air Volume Learning Procedures.
Note:
The following procedures must be performed whenever the electrical connector to accelerator pedal position sensor, throttle body or PCM is disconnected.
Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning
1 Without touching the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition switch to ON position and wait at least two seconds.
2 Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and wait at least ten seconds.
3 Turn the ignition switch to ON position and wait at least two seconds.
4 Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and wait ten seconds.
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning Procedure
5 Without touching the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
6 Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and wait at least ten seconds.
7 During this ten seconds period, make sure the throttle valve moves ( listen for the actuator in the throttle body). If it doesn't, repeat Steps 5 and 6.
Idle Air Volume Learning procedure
8 Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
9 Park the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight ahead.
10 Turn the ignition switch the OFF position and wait at least 10 seconds.
11 Without touching the accelerator pedal, turn the ignition to the ON position and wait three seconds.
12 Depress the accelerator pedal to the floor, then release it; do this five times within five seconds.
13 Wait seven seconds, then depress the accelerator pedal to the floor and hold it there for 20 seconds-the Check Engine light should stop blinking and remain lit.
14 Release the accelerator pedal within three seconds after the light stops blinking.

What happens if you don't do this? I ask because I've disconnected the TB, cleaned it, put it back and never did this procedure...that was 30K miles ago and the Xterra is running fine.

Nothing , the ecm learns it and adjusts slowly over time.
