Having grown up on 250r’s and a 200x.. I can’t imagine how sketchy and fun these builds were to ride!!! Great video
My buddy and I built a couple with a suzuki 750 in a 3wheeler.. and I had a CBR600 made into a quad.. They were both plenty fast for drag racing. but they are so dang heavy. Not good for cornering at all; not great for bumps-- the shocks are over loaded unless you upgrade them; so they can bottom out on the bigger bumps. It's just not as great as it looks. Ripping on a straight away like this is the most fun you get out of it. For anything else: Just stick to modern 450's 4strokes or 250 2strokes.. Big bore 500cc 2 strokes if you're a serious rider

I had a 200x.. and I could launch it.... loved the suspension! Like a boat😅 my biggest beef was the chain tensioner or the axle that had to be pulled back and held in place by 2 cheap galvanized steel and bolts.. had t9 be replaced every 3rd ride
It's crazy how different brands parts just work. I did the inverse, blaster swingarm and axle onto an atc. Rad to see giving a neglected machine another chance 🤘

Three wheelers are a fine example of blaming the machine when it's the stupidity of the person driving. Three wheelers are how I learned to ride atv's as a kid, though we only had an ATC 185S, not the fastest thing in the world but it was still a load of fun. They're still capable of going in tight spaces bigger modern quads can't go. If they get stuck just hop off and pick up the back. :)
I have owned a built 200x since I was 14. I'm almost 30 now. U guys need salt flats or free way for these babies! I'm glad to see the 3 wheeler community still thriving
This is absolutely AWESOME! Not only are the builds impressive but your riding skills and no fear are impressive on a homeade job. If those breaks didn't work you'd be hurting!
I got a 83 Yamaha Trike with the 175 motor that I just got running, seeing this gonna try & add a newer 250 engine in it😁 Great Vid!

That 3wheeler goes real good with the blaster motor, way better than i thought it was gonna.
Gotta love the sound of an old 2-stroke with a massive expansion chamber pipe! Both builds are crazy; not sure i have the cojones to ride either one of them at half the speed you guys were!

this is friggin awesome ! what machines ! !
I've done this in 85 200x and we just cut stock swinger arm and made it work temp but later used longer quad swinger arm and it was a wheelie machine I've own well over 100 atcs and now there get hard to find cheap but i was born in 80 when they were still new and having family that started shop when I got in my teens I was lucky my uncle's had everything and anything with a motor so learned to build things from scratch because they would buy anything that was cheap and stock pile it and they lived in the country so we road the road every where but that was long ago I wish had funds biuld machines again also get some rear brakes your still young but having raced and done things on 3 wheeler quad guys were scared to do they are great to ride in woods but it's not if u will wreck it just matter when so always ride with gear broken bone hurt later in life trike's for life keep up great work and ever a question on a trike or part just ask still have connection to parts that might be sitting iny umcles and friends fields.

I have an 86 that's basically stock and an 86 4 wheeler with the 500r squeezed in it.
The trike still has the 14 and up stickers.
The part of the equation that isn't mentioned in the banning of 3 wheelers is alcohol oddly.
What you accomplished making the best of what you have is a lost art,unique quality.

Nothing will ever beat the legendary 250R. I raced professionally for yrs and owned and built several of the atv's and couple ATC's, my last being a '85 I believe where exhaust was on the left side still. As far as the 3 wheelers they've been outlawed/banned for decades here and most states and probably for good reason. Lost a buddy on one many yrs ago now but now that I'm almost 44 I'd give anything to own one again to build.

I remember that "weird" trailing front axle. The only motorcycle, that I can recall, that has that. I like it. I would assume it makes it steer a tighter circle?

Dude I have a 1984 atc 250r too! Im a big 3 wheeler enthusiast. The whole $9,000 thing when running is just straight bs tho😂😂. The 85 and 86 in mint condition barely pull that kind of money.
Yeah I was thinking "yeah a complete one that needs nothing and is in good condition is worth about 9k"....I would've said "dude then why you have it out here not running and literally rotting away?" 🙄
The earlier air cooled versions don't seem to be as sought after as the later water cooled models. A water pump and cooling system are just another thing to fail and take your engine out. I personally like the air cooled two-strokes better, there's no fancy power valves on them to get out of adjustment and no water passages to get clogged. :)
@@Slane583 It wasn’t just the engine that got upgraded, the entire chassis and suspension was higher performance as well. It was an entirely new animal than previous generations. That being said… I love the raw ripping power of my 84:)
@@ethanwhite1974 I never got to experience any of the sportier trikes growing up. Though I did grow up learning how to ride on a three wheeler it was mainly just a 185S.
My father went for more practical machines than things that went fast. Though I did finally get to have a beat up Blaster in high school that we ended up putting a 240 big bore in.
Now I have a couple of vintage Yamaha big bore two-stroke dirt bikes to work on and get going. It's taking a bit but they'll be worth it in the end. 😁

I love fabricating stuff! I built mine and helped a friend build his Honda ruckus with gy6 engines and had to do a lot of fabrication…just when it was starting to be a popular thing! They were a lot of fun and they would do 70mph lightly modded of course👍🏻

I'm not even mad you put a Blaster engine in an ATC250R.... you saved it and it's actually WAY faster than a stock 250R 😅
The only thing I'm slightly sad about, is not getting a replacement full sized rear shock and keeping the geometry true... because those ATC's were great offroad, with the shortened shock and different link, it's going to be rough lol.
What? A 200cc Blaster (Yamaha) motor isn't even close to power output of a STOCK 250R(Honda) and nvm can't upgrade like can the 250R like a 330cc Stroker motor or larger, power Reed valve, larger carb and tunable exhaust. You are so far from correct it hurts my insides😂
AND you always lengthen the swingarm by 1-3" like with a Lonestar® or from Laeger®
@@dieseldabz7104 you clearly are new here, I don't think Vasily has ever used just a stock 2t (maybe the triple, I still haven't watched that one fully built), but that Blaster sourced 2t isn't stock, and I clearly said it's now faster than a STOCK ATC250R. 🙄
These treewheelers look like a lot of fun.
The fork legs of the 2 stroke treewheeler seem to be turned backwards. Turning them should make for more stability at high speeds and better handling in general.
2 stroke forks are correct... the street bike swapped one is flipped to clear the headers I would imagine

I gave the vid. a like just to support a chance this trike gets at least a new seat and maybe some paint and shine...she doesn't have to be 100% fully restored as I personally like the blaster engine with it's stinger chamber!

I had a blaster 25 years ago. I had the works done to the engine, bored 50 over, larger jets, racing reeds, ported polished, racing clutch. Insanely light and fast. My brother had a 250r liquid cooled 3wheeler and smoked him in the pits and trails. He got me on the roads
Awesome job of bringing it back. Do a Craigslist rebuild. A little paint and seat cover. Good as new. Lol.
They were never dangerous but, you can't fix stupid and they ruined it for the rest of us. Been riding them since the Honda 90 came out. Bought and sold lots of them. We still have a Honda 200, Kawasaki KLT 185 and a Yamaha Tri-moto 175. All in original form. Well, besides racks we've added, seat covers, tires, a couple top ends, only one piston and rings and lots of carb rebuilds. You get the idea. Lol. Use them on our hunting property.

The cbr swapped trike needs more fuel it’s running lean bc of the pods and the aftermarket exhaust , the dyno jet kit makes it really easy to

I've had 3 trikes back in the day, an 86 ATC250R, an 87 ATC200X, and an 86 350X.... never had any issues with any one of them, never flipped one over, and always straight beat the dog 💩 out of them back in the 90s....they should've never stopped making them....at least BVC still is 😤

I actually may have built a sketchier 3 wheeler than these but its since been disassembled and i'll be doing it again with better engineering. It was on 32's, had 5 shocks, and a rear mounted radiator withha ktm 525 motor. Its intake stood at 5 feet tall.
I used to go to a dirt drag club and that place was full of machines like this!
