John had a good suggestion for your "lean sounding " issue. Adjusting the length of the stingers makes a difference. One way to dial them in before welding a permanent adjustment is to cut the top and bottom off of soda cans, split the aluminum along the seam (from top to bottom) and wrap the aluminum around the stinger, moving forward and backward, till the length gets the desired results. Use a metal clamp to hold in position while testing. Weld a stinger extension after you find the proper length. add a half inch to the stinger length to make up for the larger inner diameter of the aluminum wrapped around the outside of the stinger, then cut a little off at a time, 'till you get to the sweet spot.
Multiple cyl two strokes make a lot of power. There's 250 cc superkarts guys over in Europe making 90 hp. From 250 140-50 mph karts. Wouldn't want fall out on pavement at a 150.
Cool to see a guy give good solid advice,not to mention alot of his time to get those machines in working order so as not to run them untill major engine damage occurs.The 3 cylinder Quad is crazy and seems to be pretty quick,goid luck in Detroit Lakes,I spent alota time up there in my youth as my Grandparents lived their for many years.

Yes a stock or even a trail set up with snowmobile clutches will rob power. That being said I promise you if someone that drag races and knows their stuff would blow your mind what they could do by just dialing in the clutches and carbs.
Nice dirtdrag bikes. On kx maybe put some ktm 150-300 rubbers to cover where pipe's join to muffler's. Will solve exhaust gas burns to legs. Even some carbon covers for sides of expansion chamber's like ktm, they stop burns if crash on top of you and stops alot of heat. Avagud1 mate
I'm wondering why didnt you crisscross the pipes on the banshee bike to have them sit more narrowly? Left side expansion pipe going header into right side cylinder etc? Cheers :)

Leanness is solely for emissions and mpg,rich is where the power and torque comes from..So you spend more in fuel costs,yet you gain quicker throttle response,more hp,more torque,faster acceleration and a cooler running engine over a leaned out engine..
If John's engine produced less hp without the carbs being synced, they must have been way, way out of synch, enough to keep one of the carbs from opening all the way. Otherwise, carb synchronization doesn't do a thing for a race bike. Been using mercury sticks since 1978 for syncing carbs.
I also have an methanol set up on my banshee for like over 10 years I have 34 mil kehin flat slides with 3 alcohol 110 jets I know but I only had to do the timing to about 7 degrees I also had a pro design cool head with 17 mm domes I also had cpi in frame drag pipes this is for you and it is for methanol set up I will erase after 2 hours for a stock crank banshee 350 welded. And all is modified Sanchez racing

also remember its a dirt/sand drager. so your runs are 300 ft at a time. defanitly run premium race fuel, blenzol 110, 112. the rest is all just luck.
