4:12:35 I had contact about Sovereign Chess Arena with designer Mark Bates a short while ago. With a few modifications to the Arena board, you can now also play Sovereign Chess Royal Arena with 4 players. Originally, it wasn't designed to play Royal mode on the Arena board, but Mark Bates came up with a setup that, according to him, would be balanced enough to do it. There are a few changes that need to be applied at setup to play Royal mode: 1. The chromatic colored squares e5, e8, h5 and h8 on the Arena board have to be changed. To do this, I'd suggest using flat squared and plain colored tokens (one of each of the colors white, ash, slate and black) to cover the squares on the board with. Cover h8 with white, h5 with ash, e8 with slate and e5 with black. This way, the ash and slate squares are now on the Arena board for Royal mode, while they are not on the board with regular Arena mode. 2. The players' pieces are put on the board as usual, except that both rooks and both the matching pawns in front of them are removed. The rooks are set aside for later use in case of pawn promotions, while the two pawns are removed from the game. From white's perspective, the ash pieces are on their left, the slate pieces are on the right, and the black pieces are across. Make sure that all queens are on the light colored squares. 3. The remaining squares in the first two rings are occupied by the achromatic colored pieces as follows: - Red: Qb1, Ba1, Rl10, Pk10 - Orange: Ql11, Rc1, Nk11, Pc2 - Pink: Qa2, Rj12, Nb2, Pj11 - Yellow: Qk12, Ra3, Bl12, Pb3 - Green: Qb12, Rl3, Nb11, Pk3 - Cyan: Qa11, Rj1, Ba12, Pj2 - Navy: Qk1, Ra10, Nk2, Pb10 - Violet: Ql2, Rc12, Bl1, Pc11 Enjoy playing Sovereign Chess Arena Royal! 😃
Normal people when they have 5 hours to kill: *does something productive* Me when I have 5 hours to kill: Oh boy, 190 Chess variants? This I gotta see!
Chess: across the chessverse. The movie starring: Peasant the Pawn, Horsey the Knight, Giant Tower the Rook, Holy Piece the Bishop, The Queen, The king, and a bunch of pieces...
So many variants. And it's sill without a makruk (thai/siam chess), ok-chatrang (makruk variation), makpong (makruk variation), shogi variations, manchurian chess (variation of xianqgi), jetan, changi (korean chess), shatar (mongolian chess), hiashatar (shatar variation), sittuyin (burmese chess), Shatranj-Al-Kabir (Tamerlan chess), and many and many other.
This is excellent...One small linguistic note: At 2:59:02 and following, a couple of times you say what sounds like "playerses." I think you're trying to express the word players', that is, the possessive of players. However, that word is simply pronounced "players," just like the simple plural or the singular possessive (player's). Although the written forms of these words are different, they all sound the same.
So I noticed that some (if not, most) of the timestamps in the descriptions are mainly innacurate by around 5 seconds to around a minute. For example, the description says that World's Smallest Chess is at 3:39:16 when in reality it's at 3:39:30. If you could, it would be great if you could fix this.
I'm commenting 3 hours after the video released. It is impossible for anyone to have watched the entire video as I write this since it is 5 hours long. I find that pretty cool.
It would be cool if you made a card set with all the chess versions so you could pick a random card and play this version of chess, kinda similar to 77 ways to play tenzi
What if all these varient of chess are combined to form a single 10-16 player chess with all its own chess pieces from all the variation. That will be amazing 🤩🤩🤩

There are a few changes that need to be applied at setup to play Royal mode:
From white's perspective, the ash pieces are on their left, the slate pieces are on the right, and the black pieces are across. Make sure that all queens are on the light colored squares.
3. The remaining squares in the first two rings are occupied by the achromatic colored pieces as follows:
