Time and time again Cody keeps saying that a tone is privacy or encryption. It is not. A tone is only access control… when a receiver is set to tone squelch… it will only open the squelch if the proper tone is present. That’s it. Using a tone doesn’t keep anyone else from listening to it, if they have a scanner or a receiver they have tone squelch set off too. It is not any kind of privacy or encryption to keep others from listening. It is very easy to find the tone by scanning… the anytone radios that bridgecom sells themselves can do a tone search/scan.
'PL tone' is Motorola speak for Private Line Tone. It is used to keep users of a different PL tone on a community repeater from breaking squelch. So, in that sense is does afford privacy.
@@BridgeComSystemsInc correct. But FRS radios (and most all other times Cody mentions it) are simplex. A tone will not keep anyone at all from listening in. Will only keep you from hearing them, until they figure out the tone using the tone scan feature in their anytone radio.
I just bought 8 for warehouse work. They look pretty good and thanks for your video.
Glad you like them!
