Thanks for including the torque specs and tightening order! Really useful for those of us working on friends cars not wanting to spend an hour sifting through forums haha
You just convinced me to do it myself and save about $400 +. My Caravan has 149k on the original plugs and coil packs, so I think I will do both. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial! I have done it before but I just wanted to watch your video as a refresher as I am about to tackle that task on my wife's 2013 Town & Country... the first time I did it, I took the intake manifold completely off, but I like your tip that you just have to swing it out of the way! You have a new subscriber!
Thank you so much! Ive been putting this off for a year but the vans been acting up... Bucking, missing, low power and back firing once in a blue moon. Then itll go back to normal for a while. So im starting with the tune up parts ive had for a year now. This is the most clear, precise and easily explained video, i think ive ever seen. Good job sir and thank you very much.
Great video for the "do it yourselfer". You didn't replace the intake manifold gaskets?? Good opportunity to clean the throttle body while the intake manifold is removed.
I personally don't see a need to disconnect it. With that said pretty much every repair manual starts with "disconnect the negative battery terminal". It's up to you. If I'm working around the starter or alternator I will disconnect the battery. On this repair with the ignition off there aren't any live wires that could short against anything. but when in doubt disconnecting the battery isn't a bad idea. It's super easy
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive thanks for the quick response. Your video was awesome and very informative. I'll be changing spark plugs when I replace the oil filter housing with the dorman aluminum housing.
Typically a blinking engine light means there is a misfire or fault that has the potential to damage the catalytic converter. The lightning symbol between two lines is for an electronic throttle body fault. And a lightning symbol through a wrench is for the hybrid system. Either way you should have it looked at sooner than later.
It depends on how your old gaskets feel. They are reusable rubber gaskets, if they are still flexible and protrude above the groove rim then they are fine to use. If they are flat and no longer protrude then they should be replaced.
These rubber gaskets are reusable. As long as the gasket is still flexible and protrudes from the groove. But for the price you may decide to just replace them.
The rubber seals are reusable as long as they are still soft and malleable and are raised above the plastic a little. If they are starting to harden up or go flat then replacing them would be a good idea.
My teenager helped me with this. I made sure every step was right taking things off, then we did everything in reverse order, but when we left the van running a few minutes, it poured fuel out of somewhere and we can't figure out what's wrong.
@@tammyvinas2120 You need to take the intake manifold back off and see what was damaged. The fuel rail and injectors are under the manifold. The fuel line connects to the rail on the passenger side. First do a visual inspection with a flashlight. If you can't find anything, wear safety glasses and have an extinguisher handy. Then with the manifold off turn the ignition on to allow the fuel to build pressure and see where it's coming from. Use extreme caution. If you don't feel comfortable then have someone else do it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask 👍

This is by far the best version of this that I’ve seen. I had questions after what hung some of the others but yours was simple and thorough.
Thanks for the comment! Glad this video was helpful 👍
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive It certainly was. Thanks.

You're welcome! I would caution if you are going to replace the coils is to stay away from cheap eBay coils. rockauto.com has genuine OEM Mopar coils.
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive I've heard that too. I ordered genuine MOPAR coil packs from Rock Auto. Thanks for the advice.

Super job…..thank you for helping me save about $400. BC Canada Oct 6, 2023
By far the best video on this job..
Great video! The dealer wanted $1077 to change the spark plugs. Shame on Chrysler for this awful setup for a simple change of spark plugs.

You didn't replace the intake manifold gaskets??
Good opportunity to clean the throttle body while the intake manifold is removed.
Thanks for this... could you tell me which cylinder is number 2
It's the side of the engine that's closest to the front bumper and the cylinder closest to the serpentine belt. That side is 2,4,6.
Great instructional video. Thanks
Ty you saved me alot of time
You're welcome! Glad this video was helpful
Great video. Thank you!
Very thorough video!
Should you go ahead and change the intake manifold gaskets at the same time?
That's up to you. They are reusable. If they no longer protrude from their groove and feel stiff then it's time to replace them.
There is no intake gasket to replace?
thanks information
Great info very helpful
Is it ok to leave the neg batt terminal connected while doing this?

Which spark plug would you recommend? I have a hard time with paying $16+ for mopar plugs when you know they are rebranded ngk or champion plugs.
I believe Champion is the OE plug for this.

I have a Chrysler town and country it has a red lightning bolt that comes up and A BLINKING engine light. Any clue what that means???

Do you recommend replacing the intake gaskets?

How do you tell the torque when reinstalling the spark plugs by hand?
Once the plugs are threaded in by hand and bottom out you can switch to using a torque wrench for the final tightening.
How much would this service typically cost?
$300-$600 this is a forever changing number. Depending on the cost of parts and the shop's labor rate at the time of repairs.
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive I was quoted $624 to replace all the plugs and seals by my dealer. My code is cylinder 3 Misfiring….
@@cinepost That sounds about right for a dealership. Where we are dealerships charge anywhere from $150-$200 an hour.
Is this reliable?
Don't you replace the 6 coils to when you replace the spark plugs? You forgot to check the gas kits.
The coils do not have a maintenance interval. If you do decide to replace them I would recommend sticking with OEM coils 👍
I though they had to be replaced at the same time they do the spark plugs, do they give you better gas millage if replaced?
@@ValleyMobileAutomotive
Thank you for this. What a huge hassle for something that used to be so simple.
What’s the gap for the spark plugs
They are iridium plugs, they come pre-gapped and should not be manually adjusted. So easy plug and play 👍
nice.
Why did you not replace the 6 plenum gaskets?
The rubber seals are reusable as long as they are still soft and malleable and are raised above the plastic a little. If they are starting to harden up or go flat then replacing them would be a good idea.
What's the spark plug gap?
.044 is the OE recommended gap. These are iridium and should not be manually gapped but it doesn't hurt to double check gap before installation 👍
Thanks brother!
The studs are removable, notice the male torx head on the stud
