Loved it. So intriguing to listen to. I would love to visit this place that is left of it. I personally would like to know if haunted. I believe places can be haunted.

There's virtually nothing left of it, except the Fisherman's Rest pub.

I worked at the fisherman’s rest back in the 90s. Admittedly I did find the cellar where the barrels were kept quite creepy. At times when I was left to lock up for the night after turning out the lights I used to run through the pub like someone was behind me. I never saw or heard anything but I did feel a presence.

I was just into my teens when they demolished this hotel and was aware of the hauntings. Some of the workmen definately did walk off site, refusing to work there because they were so freaked out by the paranormal events happening, in particular the moving lift which refused to stay still. I knew people who took up a challenge to try and stay there overnight, but they did not last the night. I might have been tempted to try it with friends but was too young at the time. It was always the topic of conversation, and I do not doubt that it was indeed haunted.

Yeah, it was big news for ages. I do remember the demolition company was pulling its hair out because work kept getting halted and that was costing them money. @@Bizarretales.

Anyone got any links to the news stories covering the murder?
Or the guest list at the time ?
    Thanks

Just wondering- who lets their six year old child go off without an adult?

Nice story but exaggerated a little lol , like all Victorian buildings the old part did give off creaks an moans esp being demolished.
The lift did have a battery back up but the reason it acted weird is because the doors were manually operated working by contact with breakers lol .
So misuse would have effects like that but you’d have to have the electric diagrams to see why .
The porters room would have been over the garage nee stable block at back men in them an women in attics lol .
I left Xmas 1969 , but doubt I knew man they the kitchen porters were wanderers prob not read or right , an didn’t stay long a few months maybe .
Just a ordinary working hotel then , but silver service posh Uno lol .
Funny init the head waiter was a German called Adolf !

I doubt it was demolished just because people thought it was haunted.

No , I think it may have been financial difficulty or the fact it was tainted with the murder of a child
