    I love mine. A reissue of it with a polyphonic sequencer, longer pattern and a polyphonic filter would be awesome. Add a nice up to date Display and some more function knobs and buttons that there is no need for an editor if you don't want to use one. So Yamaha... what the hell are you waiting for :P

    Just replaced the encoder on mine, not having used it in 5 years. I remember it was a lot of fun, used to have the sister synth AN200 and an RM1X; we used to do part of a night with the modules all synced. Those were good times.

    The AN/DX200 pair are woefully underrated because they don't have the Roland nameplate, but are a worthy addition to anybody's kit. Thanks for exposing a little of what this can do. I myself have the DX, am looking to backfill with the AN.

      It is awesome! I plan on using it on my 3rd CD next year. It has nice swing & it sounds radio ready. A+++

    Can you compare this to Volca FM.. which sounds the most like original DX7

    • @SynthgodXXX
      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No I have not tried the Volca FM yet, but the Volca FM seems like it would be
      a great tool for FM power in your pocket! If I do I promise to make a video!!

      Volca FM only has 3 voices, this has 16 voices and so does the dx7 so technically it should sound very similar. The volca fm sounds kind of thin or empty unless you add effects. I just bought the dx200 becuase the volca fm was too limited and wasn't very satisfying along side my other more powerful synths. I like using my volca on the plane or subway its like an FM gameboy.

      Volca FM only has 3-voice polyphony. Not enough.

    I thought the drums had a very early '90s vibe about them :) Not that that's a bad thing.
    I assume you bought the DX200 second hand? Very nice condition - looks brand new!!
    Nice one Rik!!
    I'm getting my MFB Dominion 1 in a few days - can't wait :)

    • @SynthgodXXX
      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The MFB Dominion is a beast! I think it will be GREAT for modular fun! Killer sound too!
      I would need to sell a bit to get one but it would be worth it! Arp & Seq programming
      driving CV would be AWESOME!

    • @SynthgodXXX
      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it would be great for Industrial / EBM / Techno. And the kits sound tight & yes it's sound is right outta the 90s!
      Late 80's / Early 90s. Techno Acid RAVE days... then before 2000... It was 2nd hand thank you my friend!

    • @SynthgodXXX
      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Around $500, but they sell as low as $350 (depending on the seller) these units are now hard to find!

    just wondering? i used some youtube's synthétisers démos for puzzling my one "sketchs tracks" using ableton live but just asking myself? Well is it free to use sounds or short sequences coming from those instruments démos, so many possibilities now with ableton for exemple? it can be really attractive and inspiring to put a sound synthé demo in your house track for exemple, using these famous synthetisers sounds"" and just changing armonies and stretching, in time to make it your hown entire track!grooveboxes sequences from machines that we cant get anymore on the market live this DX200, so my question is: Is it free to use? glitching sounds? combining specific loops
    it cant be recognised and can be very well melted and making totaly different ithems and musicals structures? glitching sounds? so even if its very personnal creations at the end,the sounds are still from the demo source and recognisable? so do these demos have locked authors or material rights, or is it public domain? "sorry for my english..." think its is dangerous for other poeples too who liked to do same i think? and want to sell them music on bandcamp for exemple?

      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using the preset patterns & loops should give you an example or an idea on how the unit / program works. Using the actual preset is normally a "Bad Thing" in the bigger music industry. But people straight out do it. I have heard music from bands & on commercials that are the same preset sound, pattern or loop from the instrument without manipulation or changes. "Did they write to Korg and get permission for that?" "Is that legal?" I would say to myself... You can sample anything nowadays & tweak it into something new. Just a fact. I don't do it too much, but it can be fun.
      And I am very sure it can be quite useful. For IDEAS anyway. LOL. I hope that helps!

    Why oh why won't Yamaha make another desktop FM synth? No minikeys.

      Just use a controller with the Reface DX.

    It's a pity it only allows to edit 3 FM parameters + some LFO adjustments. The rest of the knobs are non related to the fm synth engine :(

    If you're looking to program your own voices on the DX200, and want to fine-tune your sequences, I just released an editor librarian for the DX200: coffeeshopped.com/2019/01/before-digitone-there-was-dx200

      The DX200 was released in 2001. Still kicks out great sequences for any music genre. :)

    Is there anyway to use the filter from the front panel ? I saw there's one in the editor...

    • @SynthgodXXX
      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, Cutoff, Resonance & Filter Envelope Generator are on the front panel but there are no assignable knobs on the front panel that I am aware of.

    • @danieldemayo6209
      @danieldemayo6209 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SynthgodXXX got ya thanks! Normally that's not traditional for an fm synth right?

    • @SynthgodXXX
      @SynthgodXXX  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel DeMayo
      Correct! The old DX-7's use to be a bitch to program.. folks would be reading their manuals for hours.. but since this classifies as a "groovebox" you gotta have Cutoff & resonance on the front panel to tweak! :)
