I think that the coolest part about this story wasn’t where you were going. Or even where you ended up. I think that the best part about this story. Please give her a big thanks that she is even willing to allow you to video everything and share it with the world. Thanks again I can’t wait for the next one Also, one video idea that I would have, or would like for you to do would be one that sort of shows the steps, and or precautions that you take or you may be taking in the future when you go out into the wild with your family or sometimes even alone. Steps that you currently take. Steps that you were planning to take because of the ever so changing world. The steps I’m referring to is any safety precautions. Include steps that involve being safe in the wild settings. As well as any possible human interactions that may not be Safe. Or just maybe unknown. I know you want to be as remote as possible, as you stated in many other videos. But sometimes that remote may also leave you wide open to one of these two dangers. Or at least potential dangers.
Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it! As for the video idea, that is a solid idea and I will do that one soon! I have a list of video ideas and I will add it right now, as I have been doing some research on some new stuff for this very purpose. Thank you for the idea!

Beautiful! Sorry you did not get to do everything as planned but it sure looked like a great adventure from our view - guess you will have to suffer and do it again.
Thank you for another awesome video. You’re right, you do not need four wheel drive very often having driven adventure tours in Europe, Scandinavia and North Africa. The only time I needed four wheel drive was a campsite in Amsterdam. A senior driver said to me do not drive on the grass in this campsite and three minutes later, he drove onto the grass. We sunk to the lockers on the coach. Even in Scandinavia, the most remote legal place to drive, a two wheel drive adventure coach was all that’s required. In Africa, a number of the Overland truck companies have changed over to 2 wheel drive trucks because it was not needed any more with the new modern roads in Africa to have four wheel drive. I was involved in helping build and test one of the first two wheel drive Mercedes truck that was being sent down to Africa to drive Overland trips. Would I use four-wheel-drive in Africa myself? Yes, just in case. I was in the wrong place when the rains come. Also because I’m very very lucky to have a brand-new 2023 Land Cruiser 78 Troop Carrier. Keep your great videos coming, also look forward to your build of the new track you are getting once it arrives. I understand having to wait is hard, I tried to buy my land cruiser over three years ago when the order books had just closed the month before! I’m glad after all the time of waiting that someone cancelled their order, and I was able to pick up one of the very last new Troop Carriers available in New Zealand.
Oh man! Troop Carriers are such awesome vehicles, if I had the option to buy one that isn't 25 years old, I would absolutely build one! We were considering going to NZ for this upcoming week actually. We fly for free, so we often plan things last minute. We ended up having to alter our plans but one of these days, I would very much like to visit. It looks absolutely breathtaking!
Fantastic drone footage. Some of the best I've seen. What's the name of the gravel road you guys were on that got you to the campsite next to the Snake river and that beautiful sunset?
I don't share areas generally, but this one I honestly don't know. I tried looking it up on OnX when I was editing this because I thought I had saved the location, and apparently I did not. We just turned onto a road when the time felt right. I believe we used IOverlander to find the spot.
Thank you. I know little to nothing about how to do what you do, but I so want to try. I don't have a 4 wheel drive, a roof top tent or any of the overland gear that seems so prevalent. I do however have a desire to explore and to journey within my capabilities. To see the wonders of God's Creation. I have a Gazelle tent, a 2019 Ford Explorers, a stove, refrigerator cot, Bluettie power source and a simple iPhone GPS. No way I could ever make an interesting TH-cam, nor would I really want to try except to record something of an adventure for my grand children. Perhaps to inspire them to seek out life outside the box before they are 70 years old. One thing I really took from this video is that you pointed out that we can have adventures without expensive and complicated 4 WD Overlanding vehicles . I needed to hear that. I now need overland adventures for the light duty overlander. The guys like me that have 2WD, limited gear but great desire. God Bless and thank you for sharing. It is great to see someone with your experience and skills share with others. Thank you both.
This is an awesome comment! I am glad you found so much value in this, I appreciate you mentioning it. You definitely don't need all the gear to go out and do it. I used to take my stock Fj Cruiser on tons of adventures long before this channel was ever a thought in my mind. Get out there and make some memories. Spring is only a week away!
@@gopackgo69 What's funny is Natalia said that while we were sitting on that bench that night. She was like "I wonder if anyone is going to see those and think its a UFO?". Haha.
No, I think that is a good time to go. The beach was cold, the forests were perfect. This river campsite was hot, but a fan did the trick. I did have my portable AC to use since we were traveling during a heat wave, but during the Expo was the only time it was needed (for the pup).
I live in WA and July in Eastern Washington is really hot. It's a dry heat so more bearable than back East. The issue, more than the heat, has been forest fire smoke, especially on the esft side of the state.
Oh I assume when we are parked in the dark? That scene? When the table is attached to the truck, if the ground isn’t totally level is happens from time to time. When we get to camp earlier we often will throw the Pelican down and stand on it
Hi Tyler! I’m in need of some guidance. The Rocky Mountain Roundup opened registration on Saturday and was completely filled 8 minutes into the open registration period leaving me on a waitlist. My wife and I have decided to independently run those trails in August. Three Qs. First, what is a good source that shows those trails? Second, do those trails require a permit? And finally, where in the area would you recommend lodging at? Appreciate the help!
1.) OnX Off Road is a solid source of trails in the area, more than you could do in a week. 20% off is my code overland20 2.) No permit is required. 3.) No clue on lodging, I have never stayed anywhere other than campsites out there. Though I would say Ouray is the most centrally located, so I would plan on that being home base for your trip!
Having the benefit of the knowledge and experience you have and time/distance to get there were not issue If you were to pick a destination out west to overland and explore for a week where would it be and why (Idaho, Colorado, Utah, ect).
Thats a hard one. I am editing a video now that I did right after coming home to Colorado, and man its hard to beat this place. If I were going somewhere in spring, Utah absolutely. If I were going in summer, Colorado. To be fair though, I have not yet gotten much opportunity to really dive into the crazy trails in Idaho.
Early September will still feel like summer, mid to end will feel like winter when the sun goes down at higher elevations. Freezing temps possible. Its also hunting season, so way more campsites are taken. Thats a beautiful time to visit Utah. @@Atlantamovers1

2.) No permit is required.
3.) No clue on lodging, I have never stayed anywhere other than campsites out there. Though I would say Ouray is the most centrally located, so I would plan on that being home base for your trip!
@@IndependenceOverland Always appreciate your time Tyler!
More than likely it will be in September.
Early September will still feel like summer, mid to end will feel like winter when the sun goes down at higher elevations. Freezing temps possible. Its also hunting season, so way more campsites are taken. Thats a beautiful time to visit Utah. @@Atlantamovers1
@@IndependenceOverland thanks for the advice. It was a balmy 23° this past Sunday night camping in Georgia so a bit chilly is still ok.
