  • Mandalas are one of my favorite things to draw. Weird circular patterns, and I get into a zone when I draw them.

    i love this style of drawings. it's all symmetrical and then suddenly "he, hi, i'm a plant. can i join to?" and peter is like "yeah sure why the hell not". love it.

    Your random drawing style works perfectly with your random rambling style. You have a great mind.

  • @dylanmorgan5279
    @dylanmorgan5279 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your mindset and thought while drawing is incredible. You don't really see art as just putting lines and patterns on a paper, you see it as building something spectacular and beautiful. You have a remarkable ability to see past what is on the surface and find a deeper meaning to your art. To ordinary people, your art is simply lines and patterns on some paper. But to you, it's almost as if it's a structure, coming entirely from your mind. Your art and your mind is a thing of beauty and fascinating complexity.

    Most people "don't draw in class, do your class work"

      Whenever I have class, and some people are constantly talking, I pay more attention if I'm able to doodle. Otherwise I'll just fall asleep. It's not an excuse to draw...I just take in more info when drawing

    Hey! What you said about how all art exists already.. This is exactly how I approach each piece of work I make. It was interesting to hear someone else say that. I work as though I am merely materializing the work that already exists but has not yet reached it's potential possibility of existence. Thanks for sharing that thought, and I absolutely love your drawings!

    Peter you seriously inspired me to pick up a pen again. I thought I was losing a part of me for so long not being able to draw! i have been stuck in a limbo of sorts with my art and the way you describe and feel about art is really getting the creative juices flowing again you're reminding me everyday why I draw and why I love art so much thank you!!

    this was the video that got me started drawing mandalas, and even now years later i still remember how fresh and wonderful it is to have something organic growing through the geometric lines of a mandala! i just drew one with fishes weaving through the design today :) thanks peter for being such an inspiration over the years!

    The thing you said in this video, about the "hidden art" you must find, it is so close to what I think sometimes. I think that every piece of paper has their own soul and I just put my pen on the paper and start finding how the soul of the paper looks like... :) It is so amazing, when you can just draw without stressing of what it is gonna be. It just goes on and you end up with something amazing every time. Thank you for your drawings and all the inspiration I get from you !

    Hey Peter!
    I was wondering if you would consider adding the draw times either at the end of the video or in the description below, so that way the viewers can have an idea of how long you spent on the drawing or doodle, to see how focused and how particular you are about the drawing, as well as how much precision that you used in creating the art.

    • @peter_draws
      @peter_draws  10 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    I agree on what you said about drawing things that rise up from the page. I've always felt that if we can come up with an image or say a weird sea creature ....who's to say if it doesn't really exist ? I have had what I would call "Surprise" drawings / doodles that actually end up to be a pretty cool piece. A welcome gift.

    Well of course it WOULD be Emerson to give you that idea. Emerson is full of "out there" ideas that are initially confusing but end up making a lot of sense. It's actually kind of frustrating, especially considering the amount of famous writers he lent ideas and inspiration to, like Margaret Fuller, Thomas Paine, and Walt Whitman.
    Anyway, I love your channel, and watching your videos gives me an idea on how to expand my artistic talent. I'm working on some pieces for an adult colouring book, and your style of drawing is absolutely perfect. I'm trying to study you and the way you come up with ideas, and think this video has been the most hopeful so far. I'm immensely fond of your work, thank you.

    Another useful video, thank you! Drawing Mindsets is an important topic and you help to clear a lot of the cluttered and sticky thought that blocks creative flow. I usually draw terribly without a map, but realize now that, as I like drawing portraits, maybe I NEED a guide in order to draw best, why I don't know how to draw without a plan. But for the first time a few days ago, I drew for the sole reason of finding out what would come from it, what's in my mind struggling to come out, and it was great! So yeah, making a goal is important in order to understand what's success.

    It does help to be artistically minded as well.... I notice your lines are pretty much the same distance apart and laid down with the same weight... your curves are very consistent as well... circles.. boom! That takes talent that is typically present from a very early age... you either have it.. or you do not. I enjoy trying to reach your level.... don't think I will.. but I do keep trying to do what comes naturally to you. Thx for sharing...
