This is why a strong positive relationship with your dog and knowing your dog well is THE most important thing in dog training. Knowing what your dog loves was the key factor. Brilliantly done! Love seeing this in real time!
As much as I wish I had sent my dog to Brandon for training before bringing him home th-cam.com/users/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU I am so grateful for this down-to-earth, practical guide. His training techniques and tips really work. Thank you as well for dedicating your life's work to rescue dogs, and to rescuing those of us who want the very best for our 4-legged family members.
The reason George probably has a positive association with his food bowl is because it makes him happy. There’s a lot of shelter dogs who will carry or sleep with their food bowls because they associate it with food, which makes them happy, so they see the bowl as a happy and positive thing. Dog psychology 😭❤️
George has made so much progress with the baseballs! It's so true that it's harder for dogs outside with distractions than inside the house. It's still great to see the fails, but George was so responsive to your verbal corrections. It was so sweet to show your wife-she's beautiful! When this series ends, I will probably cry. It's so neat to see such a great transformation in a shelter dog. I'm trying to get my dog to leave rabbits and it's almost impossible! I hope to try some of these things with him. He's not very food motivated.
I am riveted by George's transformation. What an exceptional dog. How in the world can you fathom giving him up? I know I will be so sad. Beautiful, majestic and proof that Pitties are just the best!!!
How serendipitous was it that you drop his toy ball and feet away is a lost baseball. That was an amazing moment! The level of fixation is crazy, but he picks up on things so fast, you can't help but be impressed with him. Let's hope whoever adopts him will follow suit and continue to train and work with him. He is handsome, smart & a perfect mascot for the breed.
I got two dogs, I don't know what I would've done without this series, I'm trying everything I learn with my dogs, and I can see tons of progress, thanks a lot.
This is EXACTLY what I'm working on with my current 1yr pup😭Training wise it's frustrating but watching George "fail" occasionally is reassuring. Stepping backwards is also just a natural part of training.
My little guy just turned 1 year old last week..he’s such a good boy now thanks to YOU, Zak. I’ve had him on your training regime (mostly) since 8 weeks..There’s always room for improvement but he has exceeded my expectations. He is smart (mini aussie doodle), so understanding the way he thinks and operates is what really helped me communicate with him and truly build a friendship/bond. Thank you Zak..it truly is life changing stuff.
Your bonding with George is phenomenal - this is going to be so hard for you to let him go when the training is done. Incidentally- wow, Bree is just stunning! She is always pretty but She made that dress look good. Good segway, Zak and thank you for that rather eye pleasing distraction
OMG it makes me laugh so much to see George's reaction when you throw the baseballs out one by one. He can hardly contain himself. Its very funny. Love him.
I was so pleased to see George chillin whilst you were out. So sweet having a good kip. Amazing how George is containing his ball obsession. What a dog!!! Mind you, what a trainer!! 😍👍
That George is such a wonderful dog. I doubt many dogs would have the self control for those balls that George managed to muster. Especially when they are his favourite thing. Good job Zak and Bree.
Hi Zak and Bree. This is my favorite video so far. As a trainer from long ago this session showed how to bring back the request level if George missed the perfect cue. I realize from Bree explaining to me that you only have about 3 weeks with George. This episode was Extremely impressive of how to train with such a high distraction as the baseball. It all made sense and was easy to understand how you shifted when George got off track. He is doing absolutely amazing. Has he found his forever home yet?? Thank You guys.
Great job! I love how you are breaking down the behavior in different contexts. Seeing how you are tackling different training behaviors with multiple breeds is such a great insight.
Thank you so much for this series! I have an adopted pit bull who struggles with impulse control around animals (to the level that George struggles with dogs). We live in a very natural area so she has to make improvements! Using your method we’ve been starting inside. We taught her how to play tug and how to let go - she is similarly motivated by toys. Now she can still and stay while her favorite toy is tossed across the room and come to me instead of the toy! We even had a few moments of seeing her walk towards the toy, think about it, and come to me instead. I can see her piecing it through. Thank you so much for this series, really. Our dog was having trouble finding a home because of how strong she pulls when she sees an animal. Now we can give her a great life and train her up!
I pray you and your dogs and your home are all ok. You have been such a good teacher for us raising our now 11 month old puppy. Thank you and let us know how you came through Hurircane IDA.
Awww such a good “man” George!! I have more and more anxiety each time you post a new video with George because I keep thinking the day is going to come when he’s gone and I’m going to be a mess 😪 I guess you’re not the only one who gets attached lol
Your videos have helped my son with training his very first puppy. He has a solid plan going into the first 24 hours and then what training we want to work on his first week home. Hopefully it all goes well we pick up our puppy in 4 weeks. We have mostly adopted senior dogs in the past so they were usually pretty well mannered and we were able to train what we needed, but my son has been begging for a basset hound or chihuahua puppy so we went with a basset hound. It's been 13 years since I've had a puppy to raise so its going to be a fun adventure. George is such a good dog and I hope it inspires more people to see the wonderful side of pitbull type dogs.
OMG this episode is another one of my favorite videos of George! He is doing soooo well with those baseballs! He is such a super smart dog! Your patience with him is so wonderful to see! Can't wait to see the next video! So glad you both could go out for a night out and enjoy yourselves!
I look at the progress George has made, and it's amazing. I have a pitbull cross, Sputnik, he's near 4 year old, who could easily pass for George's cousin. And these dogs are incredibly smart. Sput blows me away, with the crazy smart stuff he does. Keep him mate, you'll never find a better dog, not ever. Rules are made to be broken. With regard to him chasing those squirrel things, we don't have them in Australia, he's, in his soul, a terrier, and chasing stuff like that is in their DNA. Sput chased birds, a lot, but when he realised they were too quick for him, he gave it away. I can walk Sput anywhere, even off leash, and he sticks to me like epoxy glue.
This series is so encouraging for me. Our mini schnauzer puppy is almost 7 months now and honestly, I’m feeling some burnout, and I’m always worried that we’re “behind” on his training (we aren’t). Seeing George’s ups and downs helps me remember that all is not lost when we have an off day or week; it’s just part of the process. It gives me energy to come back at it and be patient.
Wow!! Just WOW! This breakthrough with the baseballs literally gave me goosebumps. The progress from the start to what it has become now is nothing short of spectacular!!
Lol loved when you guys were in the field!!! As frustrating as it may be you and George are doing brilliant!!! I absolutely love you two together, you can tell you are absolutely George’s world! ♥️
I finally found something worth more than all the things my collie/pit 9 year old rescue values more than birds, dogs, and stones that look like cats. It has been a game changer . Doggo Yogurt drops are his kryptonite. Thanks for this series as I has almost given up after 18 months. ( 9 year old dog) George is a great dog!
5:33 Ah, the classic "Temper Tantrum!" My SDiT, Shasta, a 1-year-old Border Pit, does that when she becomes hyperfixated on a distraction (ESPECIALLY if that distraction is FOOD!). I've been religiously following your journey with George, and I've been using both them AND your videos from training Inertia to help me with getting Shasta heading down the path to Service Dog success.
Such a great series ! George just goes to show dogs can be amazing with just a little training. Following this series really helped me train my puppy. Thank you !
SO FUNNY! When you dropped 6 balls and a Frisbee, then told George, "LOOK AT ME", then "STAY", were you aware that GEORGE very briefly glanced back at ALL THE ITEMS AND WHERE THEY WERE before looking at you? This was in a split second. George quickly CHECKED THE POSITION of each item as it was dropped, but in his final glance, he swept over ALL OF THEM as if to verify that all positions had been accurately committed to memory. I doubt I'm anthropomorphizing - he really did that. Did George develop or enhance a natural ability to memorize the location of important items because he lived on the streets for a considerable amount of time? He needed to remember safe as well as dangerous locations to prioritize his actions to help him survive. George has an exceptional memory and he USES IT! This could account for his picking up training so quickly.
You are doing a great job as George, Zak! I've been doing the similar training with my husky lately. It has been a learning process for my dog and me and I am enjoying it or trying to enjoy every moment, on a good day and a bad day. I think we should really give more credit and support to owners who would spend time training their dogs. After all that's why we have dogs in our lives. We build relationship with them. At least that's what I've learned from my dogs.
George has come a long long way. Congratulations. I have one question though, how many hours of video, does Bree shoot before the final episode is posted to YT? By the way I really appreciate when you include your your less than successful training exercises
Zak, thought about you all this past weekend as Ida tore through NOLA. I hope everyone came through unscathed - especially Inertia (whose show was our model for raising our now almost 8 month old Goldendoodle).
Bark box does have really great treats that are made and sourced in America and the toy are great quality as well. If they give you a treat that your dog can't have or doesn't like they will send you a replacement. My two Maltese were to small for the chews that came in the box even though my boy was a super chewer and needed the bigger toys. I just called them and they sent me something new and I gave the chew to my cousin for his dog. I am excited to get a pup box when I get my new dog.
Thank-you Zac, you just made my evening! I'm so excited to watch this new episode when I have a moment to watch it! I tell the kids that I'm having my 'Zac' moment, which basically means leave your mum alone for 22 minutes 😁! I'm currently working my way through all of Inertia's videos as I'm new to your channel! 😍🐾
Omg I love George, and pitbull‘s in general! If you want a challenge for your next set of videos, I am blind with a crazy five-month-old Doberman puppy.
I feel so sad we’re going to say goodbye to George, he’s do adorable and easy to get attached to 😢. Hopefully at least he’s going have a great life and a million baseballs to play with.
I want George. He reminds me of my Theo. I lost Theo last year to osteosarcoma. Both Theo and George look exactly the same with their brindle markings. Theo was a pure bred Staffordshire that I rescued from a shelter. He had the same intense focus on something he wanted, typically a squirrel. It’s so much fun to work with a really smart dog, they have so much presence. Pitbull type dogs are just the best. George has come so far, great work.
You do commercials so well that I sat through this one (as always) and WATCHED it. I ALWAYS fast-forward through commercials, and I actually DONATED to ADBLOCK! BTW: I've ALWAYS detested commercials (must be my ADHD) and I don't have a dog! Go figure!
I just got the same super chewers box. My dogs love all the toys! The barkbox just showed up too, bout to open it up. I started getting these boxes for my pups off your recommendation

Yes 👍 I want to follow George, too!
Well., if they were smart...

I'm literally SWEATING watching George exercise this much self control! Had to pause the video several times to regroup.
Zak is so reliable he reads comments all the time, I know your reading this 👍😉🐕
Love this series, George is quite the good man. I think the series end will probably be emotional for me

George is such a incredible transformation! Would love to see an Inertia episode sometime.
can we all just agree that hi music selection IN ANY INTRO AND VIDEO is insane?

There is nothing more adorable than George trying his best to be a good boy around a baseball.
Zak, this is me hoping that you and your family are safe as Ida lands in your path. Keep us posted.
Hoping you all are doing well thru the hurricane
Zak can also juggle. That's pretty impressive. Can we get an episode with just Zak juggling baseballs?
Best dog trainer. Period
The best of this episode was minute 08.47 .Zak and the balls .you are amazing.👍👍👍
Hope you and your wife and dogs and family are well and safe during Ida.
You need to let everyone know that you guys are ok with the storm coming through.
Zak can't wait for new series!!!! it is so amazing to watch shelter dogs been so good. I hope George get best owner because he deserves it.
I love George. He is such a good boy. He was so happy when he found the random baseball.

SUCH great progress! What a discovery about the food bowl!
Such a great series ! George just goes to show dogs can be amazing with just a little training. Following this series really helped me train my puppy. Thank you !
George is like "Yesssssssss" for random finds of baseballs! So funny that it was out there. Natch.
Yeah, I know. I almost hated to see his treasure taken from him.

Just checking to make sure that you two are okay. Praying you are safe through Hurricane Ida. 🙏
This is a great review of how to break things down for your dog! My focus is about 10 minutes tops, so I’ll watch the squirrel section tomorrow!
Ahh...I'm really proud of George too. Such a good boy.
I hope you, Bree and pups are ok and the storm didn’t affect you badly.💕🙏🏼

I’ve got George’s sister, Lucy, as equally frustrating but…..a dog with so much character, I luv her to bits. She’s with me all the time.
What incredible progress!! Well done.
LOL the tail wag when he found the random ball. So cute.
Great episode. Thanks Zak and Bree!
Zak, thought about you all this past weekend as Ida tore through NOLA. I hope everyone came through unscathed - especially Inertia (whose show was our model for raising our now almost 8 month old Goldendoodle).

You must keep him. It’s meant to be! ❤️🥰
Patiently waiting to hear you, Bree, Indy Inertia and Angela are safe.
I hope zak, bree and George are OK from the storm
I love this dog. Some lucky active person is going to get a fantastic companion.
this journey is incredible, he's come so far!!! and I feel like I've learned so much. Keep it going!
So excited!! Just ordered our 1st of 12 Bark Box Super Chewer for our Mia!
Thanks Zak!

This was the funniest episode I've seen yet! 🤣
I feel so sad we’re going to say goodbye to George, he’s do adorable and easy to get attached to 😢. Hopefully at least he’s going have a great life and a million baseballs to play with.
Gorge is soooooo awesome and amazing!!!!!!! He’s come so far in so little time!
Did u remember your friends dogs name?
Well done George 🐕🐾😁
Just checking on you and making sure you’re ok. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Greeeaat job!!! So happy to see the huge progress😁😁😁 work, patience and science always works ✅✅✅
George does so well and so quickly it is sometimes hard to believe that we are seeing it all and then he finds a random baseball! Funny
I want George. He reminds me of my Theo. I lost Theo last year to osteosarcoma. Both Theo and George look exactly the same with their brindle markings. I love this channel... it's the reason I was able to train my dog to sit :-)
What a great success ! Well done !
I am hoping you all are safe with Hurricane Ida❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fantastic work with George.
I love your videos so much keep it up😊❤️
You do commercials so well that I sat through this one (as always) and WATCHED it. I ALWAYS fast-forward through commercials, and I actually DONATED to ADBLOCK!
BTW: I've ALWAYS detested commercials (must be my ADHD) and I don't have a dog!
Go figure!
thanks for all your vids dude. you have helped me fully train my dog. thanks
Omg! I hope our super chewer box is a fish theme!! We're still waiting for August
I just got the same super chewers box. My dogs love all the toys! The barkbox just showed up too, bout to open it up. I started getting these boxes for my pups off your recommendation
I love George he’s a wonderful dog! 💕
I think these videos show that any dog can be a good dog if you just take a little time and a little patience with them.
