I've seen a lot of people say the UI looks a bit too much like p5, but if you look at the menus in original p3 you can see the seeds being planted for creative looking UI going forward, which naturally evolved into what we see in persona 5. In my mind p3 deserves a little bit of credit and shared ownership to this approach in UI, so it's not as out of place for me personally

My only problem is that the IU looks more abstract than it should,it should go straight to the point like the original, like, look like your normal PC menu and not like grafitti, like, if you are going to add the ocean in the menu, then dont add the MC, a realistic view is enough, like, the UI should be more serious
That's called knowing what you know now and assuming that's what was intended. If what you said was true, then P4 would look even more so like P5. Each game was meant to have it's own identity and feel, not look as if a template was being used. It doesn't fit.
Honestly I was hoping they would stylize UI based on Persona 5's. Only let down so far are shop menus where you can clearly see shopkeeper just standing

If I'm honest, I've been a hardcore persona 3 lover for years. When persona 5 was first announced, I actually got persona 3 vibes from it, just edgier. Seeing a remake of persona 3 with mechanics inspired by persona 5 just feels full circle to me 🤷🏾♂️.

The remake looked incredible in the trailer and you can really tell atlus is really trying to stay true to persona 3’s aesthetic, while also borrowing from persona 5’s UI. I’ve been seeing people complain about it taking too much from persona 5 and I genuinely wonder if it’s satire or not. Things like keeping its simple font and text boxes is a big change from 5’s jumbled and plastered dates and fonts, making it nowhere near a “persona 5 copy”. This trailer was great, and a BIG artistic improvement to p3’s aesthetic.
Totally agree. Also, the battle UI being simpler AND conveying the "gun" theme is even better. The Battle UI opens like you were charging a bullet on the revolver. It's sooooo good

I really like the way it looks, I think it’s good because they’re going for the sense of style that makes Persona 5 so appealing but it’s a *different* style choice. Instead of tears and sharp transitions they’re going for what looks to be a calming water aesthetic

@@dannyj6521 OR people that don't think every older game needs to be remade as if a requirement. Too many games were made with creative freedom and simply wouldn't happen now with how everything is political, even in gaming worst yet forcing Western views on Japanese creators. P1 and P2 are so different that a remake would essentially make them entirely different games and they would have to go out of their way to implement a calendar/time system when such a concept wasn't put into every entry now. I can see Project ReFantasy happening before they undergo that task and as seen from just the PSP ports, changing the music gave the game a very different vibe from what was intended. I think Atlus is watering down Persona to just be pop relevant is fine for newer games, but revising what came before that way erases the original vision.
@@blumiu2426 I mean p1 and p2 being remade with confidants and calendar system wouldn't be horrible so long as the story stays the same (with maybe some pacing adjustments) and the confidants are just so you can get more attached to the characters, at least, that's my opinion (ofc there shouldn't be deadlines for p1/p2)
Could be wrong, but I feel like it might be an earlier version of the UI. Even barring the lack of resemblance to a revolver, it looks a bit too simple. Also, the revolver imagery clearly didn’t just go over their heads as you can see they actually added it into the UI of Kurosawa’s weapon shop. So who knows, maybe it’ll be different in the final release. I hope they improve it but this is still a dumb hill to die on. As someone who was a little worried about how a P3 remake would turn out, I think the game looks great. Some people just need a break from the Internet, lol.
misclicked all the time in original and the remaster UI still looks good but i would be lying to myself if i didnt want it to be changed cause in my opinion the remake battle UI looks more boring than the original and i still missed the shuffle like sfx as it was satisfying to listen at
I am kinda new to the Persona community, and I've been noticing that this community has a very strong tendency to focus on negativity... Like, I understand Atlus has done fuck ups many times, but going to the extreme of complaining about how the battle menu looks... ? It's kinda sad tbh. And yes, practically all communities of anything complain about every single thing, but the Persona and SMT community is so niche, that it makes the negativity overwhelming, literally all of the videos I've seen focus more on the complaints rather than the excitement about the remake.

It’s always like this. I guarantee when P6 is announced people are gonna be dissecting every nitpick there possibly can be. The fans never know what they want, there’s always bitching and nitpicking whenever a projects announced but when the actual (mainline) game comes out everyone eats it up like it’s the best thing ever. A similar thing happened with Royal.
I been part of the fandom since Persona 4 Golden came out originally on the Vita and honestly I’m done bothering to keep up with what this community discusses cause I agree with you they become mostly nothing but immature, unsatisfied and selfish negative people that complain about everything cause nothing Atlus can do or say or give can get them fully erect anymore. It’s been such a toxic community that I now only interact with Persona to close friends that I trust- this what I’m writing is the only exception because I had to get this off my chest to tell this community to their faces that they need to grow up and stop being so entitled cause it’s just a video game series. Glad to see people like you have a valid and reasonable mindset but I truly envy that you’re new to this fandom in which I like to give you this advice: YOUR opinions and feelings matter more than any of ours. Don’t let their bullshit let you down or discourage you, you have every right to be excited for this remake and have no gripes with minor nitpicks cause you just want to play a fun and good game which is what we all want we just want a good game that’s worth our time. If this community discourages you don’t let them and it’s ok to walk away and socialise with people you completely trust with this subject. You deserve to be happy 👍
I don't like how people trash this remake. It looks wonderful. Yeah I miss the old UI, but there will probably be a setting for it. Not only that, but this could give way to P1 and P2. All I'm hopping they keep as a feature is Ken forever falling in Tartarus.
@Mitch Messing with the UI on something can leave a bad taste. Like custom UI in TF2. I prefer the basic one, but other people like client modded ones. Other times, it ruins a game, like Overwatch when they messed with the UI for OV2. I hate POTG screens and the game. Sometimes, it's a minor issue like nostalgia, like in Minecraft, when they got rid of the Super Secret setting option that existed in 1.8.9. Or it can straight up ruin gameplay, for example, in COD MWII 2022, in the hardest difficulty, they removed the UI entirely so you don't know how much ammo you have, or what gun you're using. The user interface actually plays a lot into how the player interacts and enjoys the game, even without you knowing it. Like how Fallout 4 and Skyrim are made by the same company, but each UI is tailored to its game, even though it's the same interface.

I honestly like the smoother look of the combat UI being integrated with the character silhouettes. It gives the turn-based combat a fluid feeling compared to the plain, muddy look of pre-P5 stylization with the big menus and needless scrolling. Though I do think the "revolver barrel" looks too simple though. Maybe add Tactics and Analyze options to it.
I think they kept out the tactic and analyze off the other players as it was on the Protagonists turn to give the orders and we were watching during Yukaris turn. Would make sense in that regard.
I like how the remake looks. A bit uncanny looking in some areas, but it also looks like if P3 was released with modern standards, which is what I wanted. It reminds me of those Pokemon fan trailers for hypothetical games (Better BDSP type). Overall, it looks great and I’m considering buying a copy already. I do hope it includes Answer and maybe FemC, but I think it really good, even if it’s lacking that content

This isn't pokemon showing off terrible performance and blurry textures a few months before release. This is just some overly simple UI. Also I think, BDSP did get some visual improvements on release, though there were many other things wrong with it lol
For real. My friend tried to get me into the series with P3P last year, but I hated it. It’s supposed to be a video game right? Not a point and click book with mini games scattered throughout. If the “game” is only good for it’s story, I’d look up a break down of the full story online. P3P would’ve been a complete waste of my time, so I’m glad there making an updated version.

I think the best persona 3 experience you can have before the remake comes out is P3FES with mods on a pc. Or, simply watch the movies. I'd say pick up 4 Golden or 5 Royal to start the series since those hold up MILES better than the persona 3s (excluding the remake for obvious reasons) I bought p3p for my switch and i'm liking it, but it *is* a generally worse version, the the remaster of it didn't sell well. I'd say if you have $60, get Royal, or if you want to get a cheaper game, get 4 Golden, which I think is like $20 on everything but steam. 4G, from what i've heard, is better than 5 Royal, and I would comment on that, but 5R was the first Persona game I ever played, so i'd be a bit biased.

I think the thing people are missing is that maybe moving forward the creative style can be a thing for the entire Persona series and not just 5, since as someone who played 5 first the other games felt like they were designed with room for that style but didn’t have it due to the console limitations of their time
@@blumiu2426 Even for P5, the devs said the UI was a mess to develop. The visuals and functionality wouldn't work properly for the longest time because it's a complete overhaul from the original systems they had. It was probably one of the reasons why the game got postponed for 2 years at the risk of being a buggy mess.
I do like the blue crescent moon shape around the characters, but I also miss the bullet chamber looking UI wheel, that's way more stylish than italics text on a blue circle
I strongly agree with the theory of no FeMC but with The Answer because while The Answer is a post-game story, FeMC is a completely side story that you choose at the beginning of the game, so it would be really awkward to include nothing of it in the trailer, whole the Answer could be excluded to avoid spoilers.
The thing that really annoys me is the people complaining about no FeMC or the answer not being in the game before the game has even been officially announced. At least wait for the confirmation of these to get mad.
Honestly my only problem with the UI is that the combat menu seems to blend with the background in a weird way. Personally I think they are not using the final design for a lot of Ui elements in the trailer (specially character portraits). We are still one year away more or less so hopefully they polish the rough edges.
it would be better if the combat menu would resemble the revolver. but considering this trailer is from an early build, things might change. they might improve those aspects that fans are bitching about. that's the intention of this leak, so atlus would know how fans reacts to it, and if there is any improvements to be made.
@@michaelrobosa146 Yeah the revolver menu is iconic and would be super ironic if a remake named Reload removes it. Btw I don't think the leak was intentional tbh. They have less than 2 days for the xbox showcase where the game was supossed to be reveal, is too little time to make adjustments on the fly to anything heading to the showcase so no real reason to not just wait for the showcase all together. The only way they could impress is if they gave more info, like if "the answer" or FEMC are going to be in the remake.
One year away after the game has gone gold means it's done. People really think trailers are for making changes so late in, and especially something like that.

People are judging based on past experience. How many were quick to point out issues with Devil Summoner game and were right? The younger fans have no experience, so they have no reference point to do much other than try and be needlessly positive whenever criticism arises.
It felt like a fever dream seeing so many people hype up the remake, only to see the amount of hate it's been getting. I know I'm an absolute P3 simp so I have a bias, but I think I'll stay away from the P3 discourse because it's way too negative.
The UI for the battle looks very placeholder to me, especially compared to the menu when buying/selling to the cop guy, or the main menu of the MC falling into the water. In fact a bunch of stuff from the trailer looked placeholder to me, like when you briefly see the MC jogging through the mall his animation looks very stiff, or the fact they only showed Yukari and Junpei making it seem like they haven't gotten the other party members into a presentable state. I hope that it'll be fine when it comes out but I fully expect a delay because it still looks a bit rough.
Personally, I just want a Persona 5 Arena from the P5 series. Give us adult Investigation Team members and have them interact with the Phantom Thieves. 2 of them work with law enforcement (Naoto and Chie).
I understand the want to include Femc, and it’s definitely be a nice feature. But if you really are disappointed in not having Femc be included, then you really only have yourself to be blame for expecting that. The entire reason Femc is as popular as she is because she was such a massive overhaul to the game, a easier feat to do when Atlus was downgrading Persona 3 for the PSP, but much more difficult when tacking it onto a full on remake. Expecting Atlus to put time, effort, and money to programming something completely optional is just unreasonable. I always thought that what Persona 3 needed wasn’t a remake, but a definitive remaster of some sort. But even then I feel like people would still complain about how Atlus isn’t modernizing the game enough, so it’s just a lose lose situation. Hopefully the Femc does come into the game in some way, like as DLC, but criticizing the game for something that was never promised is just unreasonable.
I'm just glad people get to experience this game and that it gets some more love. So many seem to only talk about Persona 4 and 5. I'm really hyped for this and have the FES version for PS2 and the recent "Portable" version on PS4
But you kinda refuted your own comment. People were able to experience the game with the recent port and it's not like the other version no longer exist. I know there are younger gamers that have no issue playing older games, but it is interesting that the irony has become visuals over substance in current gaming. Graphics are there, but game could be broken, incomplete, censored or altered from the original, defeating the purpose.

i'm 50/50 on battle ui on one end i like the gun styled scrolling in og but on the other end remake stays true with 3 aesthetic by having the moon in the background ui and i won't have to accidentally scroll the wrong input
Im beyond excited for this remake. I was alright with not getting one but I am just happy to have more persona especially my all time favorite one. I just wonder what things they might've added and changed
My first persona game was P4G, then P5R, and finally P3P (almost at the end of it) once it was rereleased. I gotta say, having played P4 and P5 first, P3 desperately needed a remake like this. It's not bad, but it does feel a bit "outdated." While it's obvious that the seeds for major mechanics in later persona games were being sown, they hadn't quite yet begun to sprout and, as a result, feel much less developed. I think a remake is good for P3 as it will make it easier for new fans to get into it while (hopefully) being a nostalgic experience for (most) long time persona fans

@@matics28 Yeah, I know that now... but I already had a switch and it seemed easier than trying to install an emulator (and cheaper than getting it on original hardware). Plus, I wanted the portability to play it on my break at work. I, honestly, had no idea portable was so different from the other two until I saw gameplay from them and realized what I was missing out on 😓

Tbh just because we *didn't* get Female MC in this traler doesn't necessarily it's not there. If Atlus wants money then they have incentive to make this one the *DEFINITIVE* version with all the content. If it isn't there then there is still a chance they could use it as an experiment for larger DLC content. So far P5 and P5R had a couple fights and Personas added so adding in a seperate Female MC path for DLC could be good training. Doubly so because each game has had a definitive version released later one but as it stands there is no definitive version of 3. The OG 3 is almost never mentioned anymore people treat it like Persona 1 and 2. Instead everyone talks about P3FES and P3P but neither are definitive. Some people prefer FES and others Portable. Am I getting my hopes up? Yes but the chance is there and there is a financial incentive for Atlus.
Calling it now, they're gonna remove the whole gun-to-the-head-goes-boom animation. Reason why the UI might be looking like this. Remember that whole animation was the reason the game almost didn't release in Europe, and if they don't include that animation, personally, Imma be pissed. But it's still early, let's hope it's included.

Honestly i always felt that the UI for P3 needed some stream lining, making it nicer/easier on the user. While i do still LOVE it and go back and play it fairly regularly i'm not upset about the UI getting a more streamlined overhaul in a re-release of P3 ...I can kinda see what people are talking about in regards to the faces next to the chat boxes not really looking the same, especially for certain characters. There's only one reason that I'd want the Female MC to be an option for the remake as a playable character and that's to do with one specific confidant in the storyline (not going into more detail than that for those who haven't played it as i don't want to spoil things). These are just my takes on it, but over all i'm happy that P3 is getting some love in regards to being re-released. ^_^
People looking for things to complain about, nothing new. Whatever, even though I will miss some details in the UI, I am very excited about this announcement.
my concern is mostly tartarus, my first p3 experience was P3P on switch (sorry) tartarus was a slog, FemC content missing is unfortunate but for me played that version on P3P also wishing they take some creative changes to update it
As a designer myself I absolutely loved the extremely creative UI of P5, it flashed me when I first saw it. OFC, from a usability standpoint, it was difficult, but for the eyes? Goddamn. I think Atlus incorporated this new UI style into this remake and simplified it just enough to be unique and fitting. I don't have any complaints about the UI, I love when game developers get creative. I started with Persona 5 Royal when it released on the switch, so I am not a fan since old times - but for a player like me, this approach perfectly works to keep me with the franchise. I think its appealing to both target audiences - the new players and the experienced ones.
As somebody who has played persona 3 Persona 4 golden Persona 5 Persona 5 Royal Persona 5 strikers Persona Q and Q2 I can say I’m a fan of persona. And as a fan of Persona when I look at the Persona 3 remake. I see a remake that was desperately needed, and I want to play it. And I am also really looking forward to another sequel of persona 5. (and I think it’s very sad that I felt like I needed to basically display my credentials in order to feel like I could confidently comment on this post)
I rly like assigning actions to certain buttons instead of revolver like menus from P4 and orginal P3. Is annoying to select what you what since the way icons move is a little discracting. Additional in remake buttons are displayed in particular way. Instead of being place at the edges of character model they're placed in a sphere in d-pad manner.
I just know Vic Mignogna is not gonna be Junpei Iori. Unless they just completely rip the old voice lines from the original game. And that alone makes me sad.
Female worked well with Portable since in game interaction are visual novelesque. Since Femc basically alters a lot of interactions and dialogues. Its easier to two dual versions of those varying interactions since they will just gonna portrayed as 2d visuals. I can see the Femc thing possibly a link Remaster or Royal version of reload, though. Since playing as a different gender almost make it a new P3 experience that it make sense any company will capitalize on selling that as another version of the game.
People complain way too much, the UI is more streamline and it compliments the art style. The combat is guaranteed to be excellent so people have no reason to make any issues with the game
People need to understand with them using P5 as a basis they can do so much right 1. A much more fulfilling battle system that is snappy and quick. 2. The style seems to be going for a water aesthetic which works for the blue palette the menus and everything is going for. 3. The opportunity to make social links a lot better by having some situated at night helping cut down in a lot of fluff regarding getting them all done Everything in this remake is just hinting at a better gameplay experience for the fans and I'm here for it P5R is my favourite game to play in the series P4G is my favourite persona period for a lot of reasons but yeah I'm excited very excited.
Persona 3 fans are freaks and are going to shit on everything about the game until they can get their grubby little hands on it and call it a masterpiece.
While I am still beyond happy that Reload is a thing, I do unfortunately have to agree that SOME things look rough. A lot of backgrounds look like they didn't have enough detail and some of the lighting looks off. Especially in the Tartarus fight. Also, I'm still getting used to the new models, especially Makoto's. This is coming from a MASSIVE Makoto Yuki fanboy, but I wish they used the Dancing in Moonlight models instead. They captured his general look and feel PERFECTLY there, and I'm worried he'll feel more flat here in comparison.
I think people are a bit quick to jump the gun on this one, by immediately calling it a bad remake based on one leaked trailer If you look back at some of the original P5 trailers a bunch of stuff was different and a lot rougher looking - heck even some of the environments and animations weren’t quite as polished, but that’s because it was still being developed To me, a ton of the trailer still felt like it was still being polished up (the backgrounds, some UI elements, etc) The models all look great, but I think some things are still being tweaked slightly in development - so they could change a bunch as time goes on (I mean hell, persona 5 has some of the best UI to this date, I doubt they’d drop the ball on this one, that stuff just takes a long time to set up) People absolutely can critique stuff and suggest changes/additions, but we’ve barely seen any of this new remake, so I think people should wait a little longer before assuming the worst I still really hope they include The Answer and FeMC in this - taking the best parts from all versions of the game and combining it into a new, more streamlined package (although knowing Atlas, FeMC probably won’t be in the game, or she’ll be added in later as paid DLC)
I personally love the new UI. I never played the original game, so maybe that’s the lack of nostalgia talking, but I think it looks better (the crescent moon in it sells it for me). Edited after watching the whole video. Damn, I guess every fandom has it’s… “Loud minority”.
My only real concern about this from the trailer is that some of the colours are a bit off; in Iwatodai dorm (especially the scene sitting at the table) everything seems a bit too warm and bright, almost making it look like the Sims or something. I feel it doesn’t really suit the tone of the game or the overall blue theme
Imagine the fanbase having to deal with a company as shitty as Atlus. You're probably too young, but there was a time they didn't pull crap for money and released all sorts of games, profitable or not.

I would actually love to play not only the persona 3 remake but also the persona 5 spin-off, m probably the only one who’s excited for it. I dunno, I love the cute style of it and the story seems interesting, but maybe m just really easy to please.
Of course it resembles Persona 5. Persona 5 is the ONLY PERSONA GAME THAT HAS HAD A MODERN CONSOLE RELEASE. Both persona 3 and 4 are PS2 games, and we haven't had another Persona game other than P5 since. Had we had P6 it would look just like this because this is what modern gen Persona looks like, not just P5. Besides I do like the way P3's new UI looks. The revolver thing also makes a full and crescent moon which I really like, that and the theme of water and sea in the menu is beautiful.
The fact that it looks like Persona 5 is a good thing, since for the visual for P5 look great across three console generations... while the only time P3 looked good was the P3P port we got earlier this year
The problem isnt that the models or ui is inherently bad. It just looks like a cheap reskin of Persona 5. It doesnt look like Atlus has actually put in much effort to recreate a spiritual accession of Persona 3, instead it's a cheap rehash made to highly resemble Persona 5. Not to mention the lack of Content from P3P and P3FES is just stupid.
Bad timeline: Fem Mc and the answer is Day 1 DLC for 40$ or more each, there is no English dub and its a Persona Q2 situation, no anime cutscenes, they Censored Mara *Hopefully we get the good timeline*
I never finished the original P3 because I was already used to Golden and P5 at that point, so all the negatives were too obvious for me. So I don't really mind if some of the UI steals details from P5, because I don't really have a reference to base it off of. In terms of all the people complaining, I've learned that there will always be people bitching about everything for any reason, so it doesn't surprise me too much. Something about the models *does* look off to me, but I can't really tell what, and it's nothing so bad that it would make me say "Wow, this game looks like lazy garbage." I there's also a lot of split opinions on whether people think FemC is actually going to be in the game or not, and also split opinion on how big of a deal breaker that is.
I've seen a lot of people say the UI looks a bit too much like p5, but if you look at the menus in original p3 you can see the seeds being planted for creative looking UI going forward, which naturally evolved into what we see in persona 5. In my mind p3 deserves a little bit of credit and shared ownership to this approach in UI, so it's not as out of place for me personally

My only problem is that the IU looks more abstract than it should,it should go straight to the point like the original, like, look like your normal PC menu and not like grafitti, like, if you are going to add the ocean in the menu, then dont add the MC, a realistic view is enough, like, the UI should be more serious
That's called knowing what you know now and assuming that's what was intended. If what you said was true, then P4 would look even more so like P5. Each game was meant to have it's own identity and feel, not look as if a template was being used. It doesn't fit.

If I'm honest, I've been a hardcore persona 3 lover for years. When persona 5 was first announced, I actually got persona 3 vibes from it, just edgier. Seeing a remake of persona 3 with mechanics inspired by persona 5 just feels full circle to me 🤷🏾♂️.

The remake looked incredible in the trailer and you can really tell atlus is really trying to stay true to persona 3’s aesthetic, while also borrowing from persona 5’s UI. I’ve been seeing people complain about it taking too much from persona 5 and I genuinely wonder if it’s satire or not. Things like keeping its simple font and text boxes is a big change from 5’s jumbled and plastered dates and fonts, making it nowhere near a “persona 5 copy”. This trailer was great, and a BIG artistic improvement to p3’s aesthetic.

I really like the way it looks, I think it’s good because they’re going for the sense of style that makes Persona 5 so appealing but it’s a *different* style choice. Instead of tears and sharp transitions they’re going for what looks to be a calming water aesthetic

@@dannyj6521 OR people that don't think every older game needs to be remade as if a requirement. Too many games were made with creative freedom and simply wouldn't happen now with how everything is political, even in gaming worst yet forcing Western views on Japanese creators.
P1 and P2 are so different that a remake would essentially make them entirely different games and they would have to go out of their way to implement a calendar/time system when such a concept wasn't put into every entry now.
I can see Project ReFantasy happening before they undergo that task and as seen from just the PSP ports, changing the music gave the game a very different vibe from what was intended. I think Atlus is watering down Persona to just be pop relevant is fine for newer games, but revising what came before that way erases the original vision.

Could be wrong, but I feel like it might be an earlier version of the UI. Even barring the lack of resemblance to a revolver, it looks a bit too simple. Also, the revolver imagery clearly didn’t just go over their heads as you can see they actually added it into the UI of Kurosawa’s weapon shop. So who knows, maybe it’ll be different in the final release.
I hope they improve it but this is still a dumb hill to die on. As someone who was a little worried about how a P3 remake would turn out, I think the game looks great. Some people just need a break from the Internet, lol.

I am kinda new to the Persona community, and I've been noticing that this community has a very strong tendency to focus on negativity... Like, I understand Atlus has done fuck ups many times, but going to the extreme of complaining about how the battle menu looks... ? It's kinda sad tbh. And yes, practically all communities of anything complain about every single thing, but the Persona and SMT community is so niche, that it makes the negativity overwhelming, literally all of the videos I've seen focus more on the complaints rather than the excitement about the remake.
Only a rare few in the community have the right mindset. To not expect huge announcements from Atlus, but absolutely eat it up if they come to pass.

It’s always like this. I guarantee when P6 is announced people are gonna be dissecting every nitpick there possibly can be. The fans never know what they want, there’s always bitching and nitpicking whenever a projects announced but when the actual (mainline) game comes out everyone eats it up like it’s the best thing ever. A similar thing happened with Royal.
I been part of the fandom since Persona 4 Golden came out originally on the Vita and honestly I’m done bothering to keep up with what this community discusses cause I agree with you they become mostly nothing but immature, unsatisfied and selfish negative people that complain about everything cause nothing Atlus can do or say or give can get them fully erect anymore. It’s been such a toxic community that I now only interact with Persona to close friends that I trust- this what I’m writing is the only exception because I had to get this off my chest to tell this community to their faces that they need to grow up and stop being so entitled cause it’s just a video game series. Glad to see people like you have a valid and reasonable mindset but I truly envy that you’re new to this fandom in which I like to give you this advice: YOUR opinions and feelings matter more than any of ours. I don't like how people trash this remake. It looks wonderful. Yeah I miss the old UI, but there will probably be a setting for it. Not only that, but this could give way to P1 and P2. All I'm hopping they keep as a feature is Ken forever falling in Tartarus.

@Mitch Messing with the UI on something can leave a bad taste. Like custom UI in TF2. I prefer the basic one, but other people like client modded ones. Other times, it ruins a game, like Overwatch when they messed with the UI for OV2. I hate POTG screens and the game. Sometimes, it's a minor issue like nostalgia, like in Minecraft, when they got rid of the Super Secret setting option that existed in 1.8.9. Or it can straight up ruin gameplay, for example, in COD MWII 2022, in the hardest difficulty, they removed the UI entirely so you don't know how much ammo you have, or what gun you're using. The user interface actually plays a lot into how the player interacts and enjoys the game, even without you knowing it. Like how Fallout 4 and Skyrim are made by the same company, but each UI is tailored to its game, even though it's the same interface.

I honestly like the smoother look of the combat UI being integrated with the character silhouettes. It gives the turn-based combat a fluid feeling compared to the plain, muddy look of pre-P5 stylization with the big menus and needless scrolling.
Though I do think the "revolver barrel" looks too simple though. Maybe add Tactics and Analyze options to it.
I think they kept out the tactic and analyze off the other players as it was on the Protagonists turn to give the orders and we were watching during Yukaris turn. Would make sense in that regard.

I like how the remake looks. A bit uncanny looking in some areas, but it also looks like if P3 was released with modern standards, which is what I wanted. It reminds me of those Pokemon fan trailers for hypothetical games (Better BDSP type). Overall, it looks great and I’m considering buying a copy already. I do hope it includes Answer and maybe FemC, but I think it really good, even if it’s lacking that content

For real. My friend tried to get me into the series with P3P last year, but I hated it. It’s supposed to be a video game right? Not a point and click book with mini games scattered throughout.
If the “game” is only good for it’s story, I’d look up a break down of the full story online. P3P would’ve been a complete waste of my time, so I’m glad there making an updated version.

I think the best persona 3 experience you can have before the remake comes out is P3FES with mods on a pc. Or, simply watch the movies. I'd say pick up 4 Golden or 5 Royal to start the series since those hold up MILES better than the persona 3s (excluding the remake for obvious reasons)
I bought p3p for my switch and i'm liking it, but it *is* a generally worse version, the the remaster of it didn't sell well. I'd say if you have $60, get Royal, or if you want to get a cheaper game, get 4 Golden, which I think is like $20 on everything but steam. 4G, from what i've heard, is better than 5 Royal, and I would comment on that, but 5R was the first Persona game I ever played, so i'd be a bit biased.

I think the thing people are missing is that maybe moving forward the creative style can be a thing for the entire Persona series and not just 5, since as someone who played 5 first the other games felt like they were designed with room for that style but didn’t have it due to the console limitations of their time

The visuals and functionality wouldn't work properly for the longest time because it's a complete overhaul from the original systems they had. It was probably one of the reasons why the game got postponed for 2 years at the risk of being a buggy mess.
I do like the blue crescent moon shape around the characters, but I also miss the bullet chamber looking UI wheel, that's way more stylish than italics text on a blue circle
I strongly agree with the theory of no FeMC but with The Answer because while The Answer is a post-game story, FeMC is a completely side story that you choose at the beginning of the game, so it would be really awkward to include nothing of it in the trailer, whole the Answer could be excluded to avoid spoilers.

The thing that really annoys me is the people complaining about no FeMC or the answer not being in the game before the game has even been officially announced. At least wait for the confirmation of these to get mad.
Honestly my only problem with the UI is that the combat menu seems to blend with the background in a weird way. Personally I think they are not using the final design for a lot of Ui elements in the trailer (specially character portraits). We are still one year away more or less so hopefully they polish the rough edges.
it would be better if the combat menu would resemble the revolver. but considering this trailer is from an early build, things might change. they might improve those aspects that fans are bitching about. that's the intention of this leak, so atlus would know how fans reacts to it, and if there is any improvements to be made.

Btw I don't think the leak was intentional tbh. They have less than 2 days for the xbox showcase where the game was supossed to be reveal, is too little time to make adjustments on the fly to anything heading to the showcase so no real reason to not just wait for the showcase all together.
The only way they could impress is if they gave more info, like if "the answer" or FEMC are going to be in the remake.
One year away after the game has gone gold means it's done. People really think trailers are for making changes so late in, and especially something like that.

People are judging based on past experience. How many were quick to point out issues with Devil Summoner game and were right? The younger fans have no experience, so they have no reference point to do much other than try and be needlessly positive whenever criticism arises.

I thought that the new battle UI looked like a waning moon to represent the moon's connection with the story, and I thought that was pretty cool
The UI for the battle looks very placeholder to me, especially compared to the menu when buying/selling to the cop guy, or the main menu of the MC falling into the water. In fact a bunch of stuff from the trailer looked placeholder to me, like when you briefly see the MC jogging through the mall his animation looks very stiff, or the fact they only showed Yukari and Junpei making it seem like they haven't gotten the other party members into a presentable state. I hope that it'll be fine when it comes out but I fully expect a delay because it still looks a bit rough.
Personally, I just want a Persona 5 Arena from the P5 series. Give us adult Investigation Team members and have them interact with the Phantom Thieves. 2 of them work with law enforcement (Naoto and Chie).
Basically. Persona 5 Arena with all main characters and people from 3 and even 4 coming.

I understand the want to include Femc, and it’s definitely be a nice feature. But if you really are disappointed in not having Femc be included, then you really only have yourself to be blame for expecting that. The entire reason Femc is as popular as she is because she was such a massive overhaul to the game, a easier feat to do when Atlus was downgrading Persona 3 for the PSP, but much more difficult when tacking it onto a full on remake. Expecting Atlus to put time, effort, and money to programming something completely optional is just unreasonable. I always thought that what Persona 3 needed wasn’t a remake, but a definitive remaster of some sort. But even then I feel like people would still complain about how Atlus isn’t modernizing the game enough, so it’s just a lose lose situation. Hopefully the Femc does come into the game in some way, like as DLC, but criticizing the game for something that was never promised is just unreasonable.

I'm just glad people get to experience this game and that it gets some more love. So many seem to only talk about Persona 4 and 5. I'm really hyped for this and have the FES version for PS2 and the recent "Portable" version on PS4
But you kinda refuted your own comment. People were able to experience the game with the recent port and it's not like the other version no longer exist. I know there are younger gamers that have no issue playing older games, but it is interesting that the irony has become visuals over substance in current gaming. Graphics are there, but game could be broken, incomplete, censored or altered from the original, defeating the purpose.

My first persona game was P4G, then P5R, and finally P3P (almost at the end of it) once it was rereleased. I gotta say, having played P4 and P5 first, P3 desperately needed a remake like this. It's not bad, but it does feel a bit "outdated." While it's obvious that the seeds for major mechanics in later persona games were being sown, they hadn't quite yet begun to sprout and, as a result, feel much less developed. I think a remake is good for P3 as it will make it easier for new fans to get into it while (hopefully) being a nostalgic experience for (most) long time persona fans

Tbh just because we *didn't* get Female MC in this traler doesn't necessarily it's not there.
If Atlus wants money then they have incentive to make this one the *DEFINITIVE* version with all the content.
If it isn't there then there is still a chance they could use it as an experiment for larger DLC content.
So far P5 and P5R had a couple fights and Personas added so adding in a seperate Female MC path for DLC could be good training.
Doubly so because each game has had a definitive version released later one but as it stands there is no definitive version of 3.
The OG 3 is almost never mentioned anymore people treat it like Persona 1 and 2. Instead everyone talks about P3FES and P3P but neither are definitive. Some people prefer FES and others Portable.
Am I getting my hopes up? Yes but the chance is there and there is a financial incentive for Atlus.
Calling it now, they're gonna remove the whole gun-to-the-head-goes-boom animation. Reason why the UI might be looking like this. Remember that whole animation was the reason the game almost didn't release in Europe, and if they don't include that animation, personally, Imma be pissed. But it's still early, let's hope it's included.

Honestly i always felt that the UI for P3 needed some stream lining, making it nicer/easier on the user. While i do still LOVE it and go back and play it fairly regularly i'm not upset about the UI getting a more streamlined overhaul in a re-release of P3 ...I can kinda see what people are talking about in regards to the faces next to the chat boxes not really looking the same, especially for certain characters. There's only one reason that I'd want the Female MC to be an option for the remake as a playable character and that's to do with one specific confidant in the storyline (not going into more detail than that for those who haven't played it as i don't want to spoil things). These are just my takes on it, but over all i'm happy that P3 is getting some love in regards to being re-released. ^_^
Pretty sure they’ll add portable, and the answer as DLC if not at least having the answer as a epilogue in the main reload

As a designer myself I absolutely loved the extremely creative UI of P5, it flashed me when I first saw it. OFC, from a usability standpoint, it was difficult, but for the eyes? Goddamn. I think Atlus incorporated this new UI style into this remake and simplified it just enough to be unique and fitting. I don't have any complaints about the UI, I love when game developers get creative. I started with Persona 5 Royal when it released on the switch, so I am not a fan since old times - but for a player like me, this approach perfectly works to keep me with the franchise. I think its appealing to both target audiences - the new players and the experienced ones.
A bit of a nitpick, bit a part of me wanted the persona button to be a trigger (like imagine it on the ps5 with the haptic feedback)

I can say I’m a fan of persona.
And as a fan of Persona when I look at the Persona 3 remake.
I see a remake that was desperately needed, and I want to play it.
And I am also really looking forward to another sequel of persona 5.

I rly like assigning actions to certain buttons instead of revolver like menus from P4 and orginal P3. Is annoying to select what you what since the way icons move is a little discracting.
Additional in remake buttons are displayed in particular way. Instead of being place at the edges of character model they're placed in a sphere in d-pad manner.
Persona fans seem to have impossibly high expectations. They should get a life.
I just know Vic Mignogna is not gonna be Junpei Iori. Unless they just completely rip the old voice lines from the original game.
And that alone makes me sad.

Female worked well with Portable since in game interaction are visual novelesque.
Since Femc basically alters a lot of interactions and dialogues. Its easier to two dual versions of those varying interactions since they will just gonna portrayed as 2d visuals.
I can see the Femc thing possibly a link Remaster or Royal version of reload, though. Since playing as a different gender almost make it a new P3 experience that it make sense any company will capitalize on selling that as another version of the game.

People complain way too much, the UI is more streamline and it compliments the art style. The combat is guaranteed to be excellent so people have no reason to make any issues with the game
People need to understand with them using P5 as a basis they can do so much right
1. A much more fulfilling battle system that is snappy and quick.
2. The style seems to be going for a water aesthetic which works for the blue palette the menus and everything is going for.
3. The opportunity to make social links a lot better by having some situated at night helping cut down in a lot of fluff regarding getting them all done
Everything in this remake is just hinting at a better gameplay experience for the fans and I'm here for it P5R is my favourite game to play in the series P4G is my favourite persona period for a lot of reasons but yeah I'm excited very excited.
Persona 3 fans are freaks and are going to shit on everything about the game until they can get their grubby little hands on it and call it a masterpiece.

While I am still beyond happy that Reload is a thing, I do unfortunately have to agree that SOME things look rough. A lot of backgrounds look like they didn't have enough detail and some of the lighting looks off. Especially in the Tartarus fight.
Also, I'm still getting used to the new models, especially Makoto's. This is coming from a MASSIVE Makoto Yuki fanboy, but I wish they used the Dancing in Moonlight models instead. They captured his general look and feel PERFECTLY there, and I'm worried he'll feel more flat here in comparison.

I think people are a bit quick to jump the gun on this one, by immediately calling it a bad remake based on one leaked trailer
If you look back at some of the original P5 trailers a bunch of stuff was different and a lot rougher looking - heck even some of the environments and animations weren’t quite as polished, but that’s because it was still being developed
To me, a ton of the trailer still felt like it was still being polished up (the backgrounds, some UI elements, etc)
The models all look great, but I think some things are still being tweaked slightly in development - so they could change a bunch as time goes on (I mean hell, persona 5 has some of the best UI to this date, I doubt they’d drop the ball on this one, that stuff just takes a long time to set up)
People absolutely can critique stuff and suggest changes/additions, but we’ve barely seen any of this new remake, so I think people should wait a little longer before assuming the worst
I still really hope they include The Answer and FeMC in this - taking the best parts from all versions of the game and combining it into a new, more streamlined package (although knowing Atlas, FeMC probably won’t be in the game, or she’ll be added in later as paid DLC)
I personally love the new UI. I never played the original game, so maybe that’s the lack of nostalgia talking, but I think it looks better (the crescent moon in it sells it for me).

My only real concern about this from the trailer is that some of the colours are a bit off; in Iwatodai dorm (especially the scene sitting at the table) everything seems a bit too warm and bright, almost making it look like the Sims or something. I feel it doesn’t really suit the tone of the game or the overall blue theme
If its the colors the developers are choosing to roll with, then the colors are not off at all, they are exactly as they should be.

It’s a good thing I absolutely love P5’s UI design, then. Video game fans are just finding minor things to rant about, as usual.
I think the trailer looks good, as only getting into the series recently, it would be interesting to play a hopefully definitive version of P3.

Honestly I’ll be content with this remake no matter what happens, if the answer is in it I’ll just not play it and pretend the protag lives, if FEMC is in it then that’s cool.
I just like persona 3 and I’m glad I’ll be able to recommend my friends an actual playable game without any outdated mechanics.
I fukken hate those people who ask to rush the remake and then complain when they see the "accidental" leak. Give them some time to polish the best game, y'all are so unreasonably frustrated
What annoys me is the time and money I spent on the port when I could have just waited for this remake.
Who knows, if people could wait long enough, they might release a P3 Reload Luna, the complete and polished version of it. 😅
I would actually love to play not only the persona 3 remake but also the persona 5 spin-off, m probably the only one who’s excited for it. I dunno, I love the cute style of it and the story seems interesting, but maybe m just really easy to please.

Of course it resembles Persona 5. Persona 5 is the ONLY PERSONA GAME THAT HAS HAD A MODERN CONSOLE RELEASE.
Both persona 3 and 4 are PS2 games, and we haven't had another Persona game other than P5 since. Had we had P6 it would look just like this because this is what modern gen Persona looks like, not just P5.
Besides I do like the way P3's new UI looks. The revolver thing also makes a full and crescent moon which I really like, that and the theme of water and sea in the menu is beautiful.

The problem isnt that the models or ui is inherently bad. It just looks like a cheap reskin of Persona 5. It doesnt look like Atlus has actually put in much effort to recreate a spiritual accession of Persona 3, instead it's a cheap rehash made to highly resemble Persona 5. Not to mention the lack of Content from P3P and P3FES is just stupid.
Bad timeline: Fem Mc and the answer is Day 1 DLC for 40$ or more each, there is no English dub and its a Persona Q2 situation, no anime cutscenes, they Censored Mara

I never finished the original P3 because I was already used to Golden and P5 at that point, so all the negatives were too obvious for me. So I don't really mind if some of the UI steals details from P5, because I don't really have a reference to base it off of.
In terms of all the people complaining, I've learned that there will always be people bitching about everything for any reason, so it doesn't surprise me too much. Something about the models *does* look off to me, but I can't really tell what, and it's nothing so bad that it would make me say "Wow, this game looks like lazy garbage." I there's also a lot of split opinions on whether people think FemC is actually going to be in the game or not, and also split opinion on how big of a deal breaker that is.
They shouldve made a fighting game for persona 5 where they bring back makoto.
