They covered up the D1 with a D2 to help it blend. That's why it is difficult to hear.

They added the D1 as a second layer for sure, as far as I'm aware it's really really really hard if not impossible to slide in subharmonics which he would need to do to slide down to a D1.
I am 90% sure that they made this entire arrangement for 3 reasons;
1: So Eli could dress up as a seagull and scream
2: So they could photoshop J-None's face onto a snail and only have it be slightly less weird than normal
3: So Geoff could pain his entire body blue
3.5: So Geoff could use this as an audition tape to become a future Disney villain, either male or female

Geoff is hilarious. In "Kiss the Girl", he gets the line "Sing it with me now." When J-None does it in the end melody, he kind of glares at him like "dude you stole my line!"
That's one of my favorite moments in this. VP's humor is perfect in their videos!
It was made to look like J. None stole his lat line. They did the same thing in the live stage performance of Elvira . They made it look like Earl stole the bass note ( mow mow ). It was actually Geoff & for fun they made it look like Earl did it. These guys are good at making expressive glances to one another.

I discovered them with this, and I adore them all but especially Geoff. I played him (him specifically) to a friend and she said it wasn't super amazing, but I told her it was absolutely amazing.
