Yeah, Geoff is probably the gateway drug for most Voiceplay fans. I still think he’s awesome, but I’ve become a huge fan of ALL of the members of this group. I LOVELOVELOVE the way Eli can color his voice to fit his characters. I’m not an expert but I think it’s really hard, if you have a naturally “warm” voice to make it “cold,” if that makes sense. Eli can sound very cold and harsh when he’s singing more “villainous” characters and then, as in this one, sound warm and sweet and like someone you just feel safe with. And Layne-not only is he awesome as a beat boxer, but then he sings and his voice is beautiful. J.None here is amazing-gorgeous voice, great character colors. And Rachel-so not surprising that she is a Disney gal. She’s made for it. (And yeah, she does the character voices really well also. )

Who doesn't love Geoff Castellucci's bass voice?
Geoff is amazing highly would recommend any of his solo stuff and more of them and he went 4 octaves D5-D1
D5 mixed and D2 whit Chest, and in the background it does the D1 with subharmonics.

The bass going on while Geoff sings in their videos is Geoff recorded twice, with Eli miming it. In their live stuff, however, it's Eli doing the bass when Geoff is busy.
Rachel also did a "Phantom of the Opera" cover with Voiceplay that's fantastic (I think that's where the final note you were looking for decided to hide). While everything they do is fantastic to me, I can definitely recommend viewing Voiceplay's "Queen in 5 Minutes", "Boy Bands In 5 Minutes", "My Mother Told Me", and their cover of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby". Enjoy! :)
I was actually looking through their other stuff after this, so many performances I'd like to react one of these days. Just so good!

Geoff may have been double tracked singing bass during his solo, but they will also sometimes have Eli (pronounced Elly, the bald one in yellow) sing bass during Geoff's solo.
I'm not sure, mate, but I think they were kidding when then said Eli sometimes sang bass. It would make more sense that J, as a baritone, would sing bass. Eli is a tenor. Not saying that Eli can't sing low. I honestly don't know.
@@kerrismith5986 - Eli quite frequently sings the bass line when Geoff is singing the lead. If you check out their Moana medley (which predates J-None), Eli sings the bass line during "Shiny".

@@geoffgaebe8354 Actually in a Interview Laine did with another reactor Eli was just lip syncing the bass line for the Moana Medley. But Eli or JNone will/can do the bass if need.
@@kerrismith5986 Eli and J both have sung bass during Geoff's leads while they're live, but for almost all prerecorded stuff they just have a second track of Geoff.
Also Geoff singing Blackbird and The Headless Horseman are amazing
Geoff Castellucci along with Tim Foust and Avi Kaplan are my favorite bass vocalists. They don't have the limitations of true Basso profundo that speak only in the 1st octave even though they can hit the same audible lows and have a much larger range.
I was blown away by his talent!
Yo Geoff dropped like 7-8 octaves in less than 15 seconds, man's is a legend. Whats even crazier is the geoff himself identifies as more of a tenor despite really being a true bass. Its fun to think that even HE doesn't consider himself that deep! 🤯 Apparently he prefers singing in his 'tenor'. Bro is MAD talented.

Audrey, if you haven't listened to or reacted yet to their version of Phantom of the Opera when Tony Wakim and Earl were still in VoicePlay, they feat. Rachel Potter on that one as well and you can really hear her amazing range! Love all the reactions and advice you give about vocals!
Rachel was actually Ariel at Magic Kingdom for 5 years.
Recommend the some of the newest songs. Hoist the Colors (Pirates of the Caribbean 3) or Friends on the Other Side (Princess and the Frog).

The reason I found Voiceplay and became a fan was Geoff Castilucci. I watched his Sixteen Tons video and investigated his work. Love those group!

You want outstanding runs, review their covers of Tennessee Whiskey or Carry On My Wayward Son. You're a Mean One, Mr Grinch is a trip, too.
Since Geoff can sing 5 ocives and most of the others including the beat boxer can sing 4 or more, there is no telling who sang bass when Geoff was singing a lead part. Please also react to a non stage cover by VoicePlay. My favorite is “Can’t Help Falling in Love “. Thanks for your reaction

Usually they double track Geoff when he sings lead, but on occasion Eli sings bass when Geoff leads, obviously not nearly as low as Geoff but yeah, sometimes they get Eli to cover bass
Production quality on Voiceplay is over the top.
Sure is entertaining!

If you want to hear more of their crazy voice changes I recommend This is Halloween, if you wanna hear more Geoff then I recommend Oogie Boogie's Song, if you wanna hear more Rachel Potter with an attitude then I recommend Kidnap the Sandy Claws. The fact that they're all from the same movie is actually just purely coincidental, just the first good example of things you said you liked in the reaction I could think of.
Little Mermaid is the first Disney movie of the Disney renaissance. Howard Ashman uses a traditional theatre musical formula to write the songs.

I love Rachel’s vocals so much. She was in Evita and was Glinda on one of the Wicked tours. She was even Wednesday Addams.

I think I heared someone say the rundown was 4 octaves. I mean he also did it in the Oogie Boogie Song but that high note in this song is just insane for his voice.

Yes, Rachel actually played Ariel for 5 years in Disney World. The vocal percussionist, Layne, arranged this one. He does like to change things up from originals. So between his arrangement and Rachel having sung the role for Disney so long, I could totally see the alterations to the Ariel part you pointed out being intentional.

Lol, don't feel bad. Geoff has made many into fan girls with his voice and even a few fan boys. XD I myself was blown away when I watched Sixteen Tons. He also made me realize i have unintentionally been using a few bass singing techniques without even realizing. It was just stuff I learned from making noises for fun. Never knew what 'Vocal frying' was until I watched his video on singing low. XD

Rachael Potter has a collab with another a cappella group called Vocative that is a mix of Poor Unfortunate Souls from the Little Mermaid and I Put a Spell On You from Hocus Pocus! So good! She really brings out her "dark" side!
You should check out Home Free they are another a capella group. Man of Constant Sorrow, Ring of Fire or Folsom Prison Blues are a good place to start, or The Butts Remix which is quite funny.

Have you reacted to Voiceplay's cover of 'The Oogie Boogie Song' from The Nightmare Before Christmas? That song REALLY shows off Geoff's entire range. Its... impressive to say the least. I'm a low baritone with a unique voice. I can change the pitch of my voice to make myself _sound_ like a bass even though I can't actually go low enough to be a true bass (I think an F#1 is the lowest I've ever gone, I've been told a true bass can go lower than that). This guy can go both lower AND higher than I can.

Geoff has 7 octaves which is darn good but if you like bass singers i would recommend checking out Tim Storms and his 10 octaves since one of Geoffs lowest notes is a G1 if i recall correctly and Tim can go 8 octaves below that he is truly amazing

1989 was the year I was born after my parents got married, ❤ (; think I was around 1 years of age, I don’t remember what year when the first movie came out yet but I know my favorite Disney Princess was Ariel when I went to Disneyland in the early 2000s or mid 2000s one of the 2 years before. 😲
