- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish topped the North Carolina Tar Heels, 45-32 in Chapel Hill. Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye threw for 301 yards and 5 touchdowns and rushed for 36 yards, but it wasn’t enough to defeat the Irish. Antoine Green led the Tar Heels wide receivers with 150 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 3 receptions, and Josh Downs returned to haul in 5 catches for 32 yards and 2 touchdowns. Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne threw for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns and Audric Estime rushed for 234 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The best throw of Pynes career and they didn’t get a shot of it 🤦🏻♂️

Notre Dame played amazing but those officials were terrible.
I feel like every one of ND's posted games has a comment that states this. It seems like the refs are paid off anytime ND plays another team. Weirdly enough, the refs allowed Marshall and Ohio State to beat them.

He was a linebacker at Florida and his prior history shows that he was always defense minded. It kind of shocked me as well since when he HCed Auburn, they would score A LOT.

dont know if it was the Irish offense or the Carolina defense but ND looked much better this week, that ground game was amazing and the QB looked damn good as well, and they need a QB badly, hopefully they'll keep playing this way after looking so bad prior to this game

It was a combination of the 2. The ND offensive line dominated this game vs a really bad UNC front 7 but Tommy called a brilliant game for 3 quarters and Pyne finally executed without nerves getting the better of him. You can't ask for a more balanced offensive attack than what we saw this past Saturday from our Irish offense.
Idc how bad the UNC defense is up front and how laughably they're ranked nationally in most defensive statistics, this Irish offense turned a corner in this game.
I am looking forward to watching them the rest of this season.
*Note: if this version of the Notre Dame offense showed up in the opener, ND is 4-0 right now and ranked 3rd in the nation. 💯🤷🏽♂️
In most games against Notre Dame UNC fades in the second half. On this day The Heels faded in the second Quarter. I expected a close game. Didn't happen.

ND desperately needs to recruit a blue chip QB. I've been a fan of the Irish for decades, but I just can't get jazzed up for this team anymore. Same 'ol thing every year. Beat the scrubs... get thrashed by the elite. If Michigan can rise again, why can't the Irish?

I feel awful for anyone who suffers through Mack Brown's total ruination of the Tar Heel program. I saw it here in Austin on a consistent basis for 16 underachieving, mediocre-at-best years-- lots of sizzle, almost zero steak. Yes, the greatest QB in college history saved Lard Gut's fat ass once (and we here all agree that we should have at the very least one more NC with Vince Young under center.) You might consider becoming a Duke fan. They OVERACHIEVE...
What's with the flag on every celebration? 26:34 was literally the most muted celebration you can get and still the official needed to flag it. What are they trying to achieve? We're getting to the point where every player will need to carry a written apology in his belt to be delivered to the official confirming the score, detailing how sorry he is for having cased unnecessary offence to the opposing team by scoring and making the official having to run into the endzone & raise his arms just to facilitate his selfish act in scoring for his team & promise not to to it again in order to avoid getting a flag for a score. The officials need to park the hyper sensitivity to any form of joy or emotion shown by the scorer, it's ruining every score at this stage.

LSUs JD would have run that 2nd N. Carolina TD in - understandable so if their WR room might be getting frustrated as season goes on and he doesn’t start letting the ball go more.

In this game from both an individual execution and play calling standpoints, ND's Offense did what it should have done against both Marshall and Cal. If ND builds on this and cleans up a little on defense, we may finally get to see the kind of offense we were expecting to see this year against OSU.

Also you wanna talk about bad calls, how about that bullshit targeting call that got our guy kicked out of the game when all he was actually doing tackling? If you can't acknowledge that, you basically lose your case. Not as close as the score indicates. UNC was just way too slow to keep up.

You can't tell any such thing - slot receivers are reduced to 10 minute playing careers these days with the amount of dangerous shots to the head & subsequent concussions they have to endure. This type of tackle should be called out every time not celebrated by fans. It's literally killing the game with the amount of premature retirements from concussed slot receivers.

They have earned their way to final four a couple of times so how in the world did you come up with thst idea? Oh. btw, have you watched Wisconsin or UCLA the last twenty years?
No, but they're definitely the most hated team in sports history. History tells us they have won more championships than just about any team in history. As far as recent? Well hears some real facts for you! Notre Dame has won at least 10 games or more, every year since 2016. We made the college football playoffs the last 2 out of 4 years and just missed making it last year, which would have made it 3 out of the last 4 years. Here are some more facts for you. Since Marcus Freeman took over as head coach, Notre Dame has currently the #2 best recruiting class in the nation right now and was #1 for the longest time. It is Marcus Freemans' first year as coach, and he has a better recruiting class, then Brian Kelly ever did in his entire tenure at Notre Dame. Notre Dame has an awesome fan base and a historically great program prestige. However, they sure do have their fair share of haters! Go Irish! God Bless!!
