I do I think! My favorite role is the #10 playmaker even though I don't use it a ton; and I think if you looked at all my tactics (at least ones with a back 4), a Winger shows up in almost all of them
LOVE that You said something about cut-inside-winger. For me it is totally different role then regular winger and inverted winger (really, it should be a separate player role). Cut-Inside-winger [a] is more well-rounded inside forward (he can and will cross) but also more attacking then inverted winger [a] (more diagonal dribbles). Great video as always!
thanks!! and yea, sometimes the Inside Forward (especially two of them) will clog the attacking midfield, especially if you're trying to get some kind of AM role to work. A Winger (with a cut inside) can help alleviate that
I think this role is underrated in FM24, I've been using it in my saves and it just works, specially in a possession based tactics because they keep the width more than the inverted wingers.
Safe to say I was the first to join the patreon and discord (can’t contribute financially yet) but as for this role, doesn’t typically score for me but man is it an assist machine with the right players. Even without a lot of pace in the premier league, good mentals and technicals have made it lethal with the right roles around it
I really do need a SK video... they have so much going on and can affect your team. I fear that the video will just turn into me ranting about how my goalies keeps kicking it long when I tell him not to haha
Great video again! Thank you! You should have links in the description for both the patreon page and the discord channel. And a video thought! How about making a video where you see the opponents formation in the match tab during a match and explain to us in your own unique manner how the opposition roles work, what you are expecting to happen in the match, what istructions the AI team has on and how you are facing them without changing completely your own tactic. Match management that is? Maybe...
Love you videos , man gave me a lot of insights to my moneyball saves. I have 2 requests, if you fullfil them in your upcoming vidoes i would he so happy. 1) please do a role explanation about raumdeuter 2) could you also provide tactical insights in relation to moneyball saves without attributes what to look for in each roles and what not too
Thank you! Happy the videos are helping out. Per your questions: 1) The Raumeuter should be (sometime) soon! 2) I will say, MustermannFM is the king of moneyball stuff so check him out! I don't think I've got anything immediate with moneyball stuff at the moment. But I do love the suggestion! Maybe I can work something on it.
Another banger ❤ Also can u make a video in the future discussing how to make a good training schedule? There’s so many options and idk what’s the priority to develop a players attributes.
Absolutely!! I've got a video idea on how to prep for a match (installing your tactic, what to do for the week ahead to train) and how it relates to general training. It's not an imminent release, but keep an eye out in the future
Dang wing play!!! I was thinking of some more tactic video ideas and that'd be perfect... you don't need to convince me to make more videos using a 442 haha
I’m curious if you think having a winger on “cuts inside” would be a good combo with the overlap TI on that winger’s side. In my mind this would encourage the winger to wait just a second for the fullback to catch up and still provide width and offer an outlet once the defense collapse.
that would probably be a good example of how I would use the team instruction (overlap). The Winger will stay wide, and you're telling him to look for the overlap if it's on, but if it's not he'll still be doing his normal Winger stuff. Great suggestion!
Thanks! i've thought about save ideas, but nothing concrete. The difficulty is that I make these videos to be (mostly) self contained, so people new to the channel can hop in wherever they want and won't be lost. My fear would be if I did a save like "Winger: Episode 9 with Luton!" that people would just skip it/miss out/ignore it if they hadn't watched the previous episodes. Hope that makes sense haha. And thanks again for the support!!
I always thought of wingers as more supportive players, there to stay wide and get in crosses, so used IF far more - but in an old save I had a young winger I'd bring off the bench (winger support) and he scored so many goals late on from crosses to the back post where he came in late completely unmarked
Does having 'wrong foot' wingers in the winger role affect their performance? ie a left footed winger on the right winger role rather than the inverted winger role
It affects their performance, but it's not necessarily bad per se. If you've got a left footed winger on the right, they'll play like a normal winger. But sometimes you'll see them cut inside when they're in the penalty area (even if you don't have the instruction) because they want to get on their dominant foot. It creates some unique situations (both good and bad) but I generally don't mind it
A playmaker is what's called a "focus role" meaning they have a hidden instruction telling his teammates to pass to them more often. He'll also track to the ball more often when you have possession. The CAM is more of your traditional midfielder that you're telling to play more aggressive and get in front of goal more (on the attack duty)
Been working on some target forward stuff (and wide as well). Nothing imminent, but hope to get it on the release schedule in the future. Thank you for the support (and the patience)!
use full back. Wing Back prefer dribble while Full Back prefer pass and move, but Full Back's downside is they aren't as adventurous as Wing Back even with "Get further forward" player instruction.
Like the others have said, try using a full back. Won't dribble as much as a WB. As far as the IF issues, it's tough to tell. May switch them from support to attack and see if that helps?
As far as I know, team fluidity (if you mean the little identification at the bottom of the tactic) doesn't affect your team. It's a left over feature from older FM's where you could alter how fluid your team could play. Now it just shows how many defend/support/attack roles you have. I believe the AI uses it to set up there formations but other than that it doesn't really have relevance to us as a player in FM24. If you search around some of the SI tactic forums, you can find some more info. I belive SI and some high level mods have come out and said fluidity doesn't really change much. Hope that helps!
@@TheDeepLyingPlaymaker Thank you very much, keep up the enthusiasm for creating FM content, I'm really looking forward to other videos from your channel...
I think they for sure do it less than support or some other roles. Sometimes I like using them in that traditional 442 position since it'll force them to move back into their starting position. Attributes like teamwork and work rate can help conteract this as well
I almost used him as the player example lol; but if I remember he's pretty one footed (compared with Dembele) so I liked the comparison between Dembele and my lower league player Bruno instead
Personally I've recently started using a full-back + winger on one side, and a wing-back + IF on the other. I used to have FBs on both sides, which is very safe, but lacks a little "bang" up front. Although it depends on the players in my squad. Sometimes on that AML position, the best option just happens to be a fast, left-footed guy who can only play on the left flank and has great crossing, and I'm not going to sacrifice that just to have everyone cutting inside, even though that is very powerful as well. But it gives some flexibility and unpredictability when the two flanks doing two different things. Sadly, even good wingers will sometimes just pointlessly dribble straight into the opposition full-back and it leads to a counter. I guess there's a reason why the pure old-school wing play is no longer fashionable. Because defences have just gotten too good. But having one guy putting in crosses can still be a useful weapon in the manager's arsenal sometimes.
@@No14210 Typically, wingers were deployed exclusively on the flanks to stretch opponents and deliver crosses, a role that complemented the traditional two-striker system. However, modern football has transitioned away from the two-striker formation, with wingers often cutting inside to occupy more central positions and full backs becoming wing backs who are now inside forwards. Due to the emphasis on key passes, assists, and goals in both football management simulations and real-world fan perception, inside forwards are frequently considered superior to wingers. While winger ability to create space and facilitate scoring opportunities for capable attacking minded midfielders is still underrated, no insider forward can do that if you have good attacking minded midfielders.
I've been waiting on this one! Wingers are under-utilised by the FM community at a top level!!
Definitely! I think if you went through all my tactics (at least ones with a back 4), the Winger shows up in most of them
I agree its one of my favorite roles

Winger in AMR try to lurk opponent
Winger in MR try to lure opponent
