    I am born and raised in Hemet. I remember the wonder and mystery my parents told me about its origins. I remember the days that there was no fence or any protection. Those were the days. As much as its sad it has to be locked up behind 2 fences. What an honor and a rarity to have such a piece of history right here in HEMET Cali!

      There's swastikas in native American templesvin Mexico too there's a possibility of Chinese coming by boat from China 1000 years ago and Polynesians too

    I found the maze stone in the front pages of a phone book in the 90’s. Went and checked it out. Tons of interesting things in riverside county as you know.
    Great Chanel.

    Whatever happened to the Murrieta Hot Springs? I remember swimming in a pool there when I was a kid.

      I remember those pools! I used to live in a condo in Murrieta Hot Springs w/my Mom(she worked there & all the workers got to live there at one point). MHS was sold to a company that turned it into a Bible School. They recently listed it for sale again.

      its open again as a resort. Originally it was sold to a church who kept it private. And if you're an OG out here the hot springs on the Ortega which Sidetrack didn't cover in his video on that hwy were also bumping spots in the day.

    WEIRD. Cannot say we've ever seen any petroglyphs like that one in our travels. Fascinating! Staring at the pattern reminds me very much of the meditation of labyrinths.

    I lived just down the road from there and seen it when it had just one fence around it. Its a good little hike . My parents used to hang out there before they had fences around it.

      Its a shame that it needs two fences around it but with it being somewhat remote I understand why.

    I just happen to be in this area today and took a quick detour, since I hadn't been here in over 30 years. Then came home and saw this video. (Amazing how TH-cam knows where I've been! Haha.). I remember this used to be more park-like, and could drive closer instead of walk. Interesting there's no signage here anymore direct the traveller. All an attempt to keep the stone a little more obscure, I'm sure.

    Have you considered doing a video on the landmarks along Temescal Canyon Rd or the old road itself? Between Corona and Lake Elsinore, the old road was once the Butterfield Stage Rd, then CA Hwy 71, now bypassed by I-15. Other California Historic landmarks in the area include Painted Rock, Carved Rock, Serrano boulder and the tanning vats.

    • @ChrisW-17
      @ChrisW-17 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually there was, Maze Stone Park, decades ago, and you could actually drive into the park instead of walk. Not sure when that designation went away. I even remember a sign off Hwy 74, telling you where to turn. It seems they want the area as more a natural preserve now.

    02:40 Absent any other evidence, I believe it's unfair and possibly outright incorrect to identify the symbol in the lower left corner as only a Swastika. That is a simplistic conclusion/claim and not supported by evidence provided in the video, and doesn't provide for alternative interpretations. It could quite possibly be some modern person adding the symbol that a few religious and spirtual groups have identified through history as meaning luck, hope, and other positive values...a VERY long time before the modern Nazi party was created and started using the symbol.
    The alternate meanings can depend on whether the symbol uses a clockwise or anti-clockwise design, and people also sometimes get it wrong when they try to recreate it.
    Again, absent any other evidence, it seems more or less equally probable someone noted the overall superficial resemblance of the "maze" to the religious/spiritual symbol, and wanted to bring peoples' attention to it, as it would be that they wanted to show the resemblance to the Swastika. I suggest if someone wanted to make the comparison to the Nazi symbol, they would have made it a whole lot more obvious to dominate the scene.

    • @bakomusha
      @bakomusha 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was carved into the rock by some local skin heads. (Hemet is a breeding ground for a bunch of far-right extremist groups and has been since the 60s.) The Native American symbology he was talking about is in the pattern itself.

    • @exgenica
      @exgenica 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bakomusha Is there any "before and after" evidence somewhere to support that? The over 1,000 years of history supporting several other possible interpretations of the symbol does suggest such a claim needs a bit more than someone just declaring a particular recent something is the true history.
