Ill be changing out the headlight for a more modern style one. I've also put in an auto decomp cam which makes the bike so damn easy to kick start.
@@TheGingybeardMan haha I was just looking for headlights (well LED ones). I’m definitely installing the taillight you fitted in this video. And oh yeah, I still need to learn how to kick the bike too. But sweet man, keep it up 👍
I wish i had of seen this video before i decided to go with 03-05 yz450 plastics on my 00 wr400. - i've had to swap the subframe to make it all fit... but, i wanted black plastics...
Gee that tank come up mint after some work.. only suggestion would be to put some washers on the rear gard tail light.

Great Job Mate! Nice condition for a '99 model, Looks like it has a brand new Barrel/ Cylinder kit on it? Is it an aftermarket Big Bore or something!? Idk Ive got an Old KTM 525exc but wouldnt mind finding a cheap Dirt Scoot for my 15yr old Boy - A WR400/426f might fit the bill & be something he could grow into & I believe they are L-Plate Legal in NSW? So I could throw some rego on for him later down the track! -Cheers 🤍👍
Thanks mate, yes it's a L plate legal bike in NSW. I'm not too sure whether the cylinder was new or whether the bike had just been really well looked after. They're a decent bike but I'd recommend getting your young bloke an electric start bike for the road. These things are a punish to kick over when hot.

Hey mate regarding the tank and rad shrouds, did the old wr shrouds mount straight up to the 426 tank? I'm going for the same looks as yours and bought a seat off gumtree just need the tank. Iv looked at the aftermarket ones from mx store etc but they were assuring me that they just wont work, didn't want to be rude so I just said righto mate
Yes mate I used the wr400 radiator shrouds with the yz426 tank

Thats a good questions man. Im pretty sure yz parts being tank and plastics are not interchangeable to the wr200. Its a pretty unique bike and the frame was fairly different from the yzs. I have seen some great refurbished wr200s which look mint. Here's a link to a g

Yes sure will
Why did you go with the yz426 tank over the 400?
I suggest you sit on a yz426 to feel the difference, as you will notice the ergonomics are much better. The Yz 426 tank and seat completley changes the rider position and feel of the bike.
If you do not need the fuel range, this mod (YZF tank & seat) In my opinion is a must. It also reduces the weight of the bike which is great for tight trail riding.
The 426 tank and seat allows you to sit much more forward on the bike which will drastically improve your cornering.
@@TheGingybeardMan Thanks for the advice here in Austin the only trails we have are shoulder wide consisting of a 5 mile rut. Anything to make life easier.
