I work for an ISP provider so I work very close with fiberoptics and coax. This was extremely interesting as I didn't know about this at all! I've always wondered how theese amplifiers works, but most people just respond with "magic" or they don't know exactly. Now I know! Thanks Thoisoi. Also, don't change your dialect. Even if it can be hard to understand a few times. But it makes you sound extra smart and important. Like a very important professor who escaped the confines and secrecy of Soviet military development project. And makes the viewer feel like he is a secret agent man.
Keep making such videos they are very informative and good and your channel deserves a lot more subscribers and viewers. Sir can you please make a video on Flouro antimonic acid. As most of the information and videos on it are bullshit.
Want to thank you for your narration style - you speak nice and smoothly, without being slowly and do a really great job with pronunciation and enunciation and even with the accent we can understand you clearly. FAR better than I'd be able to speak your native language (sorry if it's an incorrect assumption)
Thank you. I am dumb American but you inspired me to start learning physic and studying the periodic table. Now I know more than I could've ever as a country side boy. You have my many thanks. My real name is Joshua. I am a professional gamer. Finished in the top 25 in several game competitions.
Erbium, a wonderful Lanthanide metal. It's pretty important for Nuclear Control Rods -- better than Cobalt... and when combined with vanadium can make hard metals less brittle and easily worked. Thanks for going over it!
ON ERBIUM AND OTHER LANTHANIDES For example the most expensive lanthanide is Thulium. It is sold as dendritic crystals. The quoted cost of 1Kg of 99.99%TREM Thulium is $1200USD shipping by DHL included direct from China. It seems like a lot of money but it works out to about $1.20USD a gram. If enough local collectors got together it would be a good buy. I am in the fortunate position of being a retired research chemist with few financial worries. For young chemists and collectors financial matters are more important. Thus it is important that they think outside the box to find ways to indulge in their interests. Of course the other lanthanide metals (excluding Europium) would be a lot cheaper.
Nice video. Erbium is a very interesting metal. I added a kilogram of it to my lanthanide metals collection. Not at all expensive when you buy in bulk. I suggest that a few element collectors get together, pool money and buy in bulk. Cut up the ingot - that way each collector gets a lot more for a fewer dollars.
Great video. Very informative. It's very interesting watching how technology that utilizes the Quantum Mechanical nature of reality is being developed and certainly the unexpected rapidity with which these advances will change the world. Thanks again for the video.
I have subscribed. I have no money or I would try to help you because you make very good and very informative videos. Sometimes I have to listen twice because of your accent, but it is worth it because you have some much to say that is fascinating. Thank you.
Great video! This is one of the more interesting elements yet! Keep working on the English enunciation. Thank you for posting another informative video and its script. If you could also add source citations or links to more information, that would be great as well!
Thank you so very much. I’ve always marveled and wondered how a signal could stay strong over such as distance. I understood amplifiers but I have no idea about the elements used in creating this ability.
Erbium is not in the "rare earth group", The rare earths are scandium yttrium lathinium and actinium. I still do not quite understand why chemists will use lathenides and rare earths interchangeably when they're different groups.
Cool, they've found no less than 9 elements have been discovered in Ytterby mine... I live less than 1h drive away - maybe I should go grab some samples :)
Erbium sounds like it would be a good seasoning for garlic bread or baked potatoes. MMmmmmm, flakes of erbium with my herbs. But if you made an airplane out of terbium, I'm sure the turbulance would be absolutely terrible.
So from what information i gathered in your video, is in order to amplify the speed of information in the high-speed internet cable, is to form a simple loop? Is that right? What if a simple inductor is wound around the high speed cable, or a magnet introduced to the cable connection at a residency? Seeing that the eribium has magnetic resonance.
Why do we get intensity loss in fiber optic cables? We have super conductors for electrical, is there any kind of material that can transmit laser wave lengths at 0 loss?

I have to say, the videos are interesting and your accent gives an extra touch!
What would happen if gallium was added to silver?
I can't find the answer anywhere.
Thank you erbium!!
I'd like to see a video where you deep-dive analyze the dust found in your grinder after all the exotic things that have been put to that wheel. :-)
Back in 2018, I found this channel. This was the 1st vid I watched!
One element per day (for me). 1 second light delay line! that's amazing! Thank You!
I love the tone of your voice. I have adhd but i absorb more information from these videos just because the voice is so calm.

One point to note: the speed of light through a fibre optical cable is about 70% that of the speed of light in a vacuum.
The average displacement that is.
Very informative mate, cheers.

OK, the description is good ,I'll read it , i half followed the video ,,thanks for making the effort ,I'll get there with the description.
How much valence electrons do lanthenides have? All same?
Très intéressant: On m'a dit que le mishmétal serait abondant dans les déchets nucléaires, ce serait alors une nouvelle source d'erbium!

Dear Sir
Amazing..
Erbium is a metal. It's used to amplify light waves every 50 Kilometers or 31 miles. It's used in pink lazers.
Thoisoi review element 118 next
I had no idea about how this element is used in fiber networks.
Er - excuse me, can anyone point me towards erbium's chemical symbol?
Er IDK man
Hehe nice . Made my day 😄
