Well done on the Lidl box haul, Ali! My equivalent is when hubby comes home with a ton of veg and fruit from the allotment! Not so much at this time of the year now, of course, so we are working through stuff which was frozen over the summer.
I tell you Ali, your Lidl is far more generous with their £1.50 than our local one. We get mostly Bananas, peppers, tonatoes and onions, sometimes a single apple and easy peelers . Count yourself lucky with that lovely variety.
I think the soft plums will be delicious in your chutney. Or make a bit of freezer jam. A cooking apple chopped into the jam will work well. A viewer from Canada 🍁 🇨🇦
Well done!! Unfortunately I'm not very near to a Lidl or Aldi - they're about 30 mins away so a bit of a journey. I wish they'd open stores a bit nearer to me. I always find them to be great when I do manage to get over to them. 👍xx
Great to share deals. I went into Tesco on Sunday and it's 25% off knitwear for Clubcard holders. Not food but if anybody needs a cosy jumper for themselves or a Christmas present...
Hi Ali..i managed to get a box on Sunday for the first time. Im way down south from you. In mine 3 net bags of mixed peppers plus 2 loose red ones. 2 packs of 6 apples like yours. 3 onions too. 1 lemon. 5 twin packs of little gem lettuce (1 was no good). 2 blackberry packs 1 large blueberry pack. 3 huge carrots and bananas comming out my ears! Shared most with two neighbours. Never sliced or chopped so many peppers, carrots and apples into bags for freezer, have enough ( for me) for months. Had apple n blackberry crumble 2 nights in a row. Ive eaten 5 bananas all ready this week. Ive 3 left. I look like a banana 😂
What a great little bonus bargain! And a pastry treat too! Nice! My local Co-op does 'Members Deals' where they specify 5 items from the freezer which can be bought for a total of £5, representing a saving of between £7 and £9 pounds for members (having a Co-Op card). Great idea, and as they are freezer items you can buy without any particular plan in mind. However, I often go and find that one out of the five items is out of stock - which then renders the entire deal void. Very disappointing!
haha I only have a hate relationship with mushrooms......gross, yuk. I wish our supermarkets would do something like Lidl boxes, so much food gets thrown out by them, evidenced by bin divers, those who raid the large rubbish bins out the back after hours. It is disgusting seeing so much waste in these times of cost of living issues. Cheers from Perth, Western Australia.
I wish you lived next door to me, I would swop your mushrooms for something else as I absolutely love them. Avocado though 🤢It’s a good job we are all different. Take care xx
I was so happy today to save $39 on my petrol and grocery bill, I had a 10% off and then a $10 discount on my groceries and then 25c/L off the petrol. You are rubbing off on me :)
Amazing deal! I think our local Canadian Superstore does something similar for a much higher price. But now that you piqued my interest with your great deal I just might have to research more. Worth getting to the store early for! Here those mangos alone would be $2 each, mushroom pack $3-$4.
I need to see if I can get a box- fantastic help. Where are they? By the checkout or by the veg , please? I always boil my chicken carcass too. Sometimes I make soup/ stew for myself or otherwise I feed my dog with it for a week! Both great savings again.
They are usually beyond the checkout in mine so I have to go through the self checkout bit to get one and then walk back round. They are visible from the entrance door so I know if there are any as I go in but have to walk round the store to get one.
I think it depends on your local store and pot luck! Mine seems to put them out around 9am but I have seen them going out at 11am too. I'm in mine regularly (as I pass it on my way home) so I know the staff well enough to ask
Brilliant haul and the quality looks good too. All useful and nice plums too! Congratulations on the nice bargain! ❤
I got one this week too - haven't had one for ages! Great value.
Great haul - you were in the right place at the right time!
Wonderful, Ali! Wish we had these boxes here in my area of Canada. Yay for Lidl!

That was a very full box. Sometimes they're not that good, it's just luck :-)

I would love to see your mango chutney recipe, that’s something I have never made myself x

I try not rely on them so when I get one it feels like a wee lottery win!!
@ Exactly!! 💃xx

Thanks for the tip! :-)
I have good memories of shopping in Tescos when I lived in London - in the 1980's. 🤩😁
💕😀xx An absolute bargain Ali. 🥰

Brilliant haul Ali! I'm just off to Lidils - a bit late in the day but its a bit manic here atm!
Great box 📦 bargin 🌹🌹🌹

A bonus indeed 🎉
Excellent!
Lidl don't offer them to us here in Ireland. Enjoy your bargain!
Shame no Lidl near me at all :(
👍👍👍
Love me a Lidl box, mine hasn’t had any for ages 😢
I’ve not managed to get a box at my last few visits - did you go early or late or is it just random do you think?
I know when my store puts them out now (9am ish) but I've heard in other stores it's just luck.
Is there a specific time when Lidl put out the boxes or is it just pot luck?
I think it depends on your local store and pot luck! Mine seems to put them out around 9am but I have seen them going out at 11am too. I'm in mine regularly (as I pass it on my way home) so I know the staff well enough to ask
@ thanks Ali.
Same here with my local Lidil. They stopped putting them out at a regular time due to the behaviour of some customers!
