I appreciate your zeal. Maybe ask the question: are over intellectualizing why you/we believe the Bible is the living Word of God. I believe it is the Word of God because I have faith and He speaks to us through His Word. That’s enough. It will always be enough. Arguing with someone is not the way to lead them to God’s love. The gospel is enough. The Bible is enough. God’s creation declares His existence every morning and every moment. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for His indescribable sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection power that dwells in us. Young christians need to feed daily on God’s word. Arguing only causes strife. May the love of Christ dwell richly in all of our hearts.
JA is not over-intellectualizing why we should believe the Bible as the word of God. He is pointing out that the history of the Bible substantiates our faith. It would be the same if someone believes in say, the theory of evolution. Faith in evolution is still faith, but that faith can never be substantiated because there is no evidence for it nor has the evolutionary process ever been observed. Our faith CAN be substantiated because there is reliable evidence for Christ because of the many fulfilled Old Testament prophecies regarding his first advent and New Testament eyewitness accounts that all corroborate of his life on earth. We have a reasonable faith. The evolutionist does not.
Apologetics, apart from the Spirit will not convince someone of the truth...however, we are commanded in multiple places in scripture to defend and contend for the faith. And we have examples in scripture of philosophical and logical arguments being used. Our faith is not a blind faith. Our faith is rooted in truth and we should be able to articulate that truth to an unbelieving world.
I'm fine with this choice. I've always thought this to be an extremely credible account because human beings, particularly human beings of the 1st-12 centuries, DO NOT think this way. Especially leaving the unsolved mystery of what was written on the ground and the detail of "they went out beginning with the eldest...". I do feel that included in God's promise to preserve His word is making the accuracy of His text readily apparent. If "He upholds all things by the word of His power, I think He can get a book edited. That said, the standard set forth is perfection. So, like I said, I'm fine with this choice. Thanks for your integrity!
This story may have well happened? There’s no way of knowing if it is inspired or inerrant? To not preach this passage is irresponsible on your part as a Pastor- to question the word of God that this is just a love story among other things is again irresponsible. I agree that you can trust the Bible and every word in it question is what version are you reading?
Pastor be careful on trusting the validity of "man's word/opinion" over the infallible Word of God. To give such a message to those who are seeking truth as baby christians is very irresponsible on your part. You are creating doubt in the minds of those who are truly searching the Truth. Doubt is not from God. God is without error! Remember you will be held accountable from keeping them from entering eternity.
Remarkable and amazing teaching! So grateful to be able to hear these marvelous sermons from Wisconsin, where I live.
I love this guy, a younger generation of Pastors who are biblically sound!
Amen. Excellent. May The Lord bless you, your family and ministry.
Amazing!
That was wonderful! I will be referring back to this sermon to help others learn these truths.
Wonderful sermon, I learned so much ! Thank you 🙏

It doesn’t hurt to inform people of the facts surrounding the Bible and it actually can strengthen people’s faith.

Thank you! Man does not give authority to what scripture. The Catholic Church is absolutely wrong
