Well...there are moments where Daleks have shown to evolve to WANT to go beyond their single lane mindset of hatred and destruction mostly in modern Who, like Eccleston’s “Dalek” the hybrid Sec and then the lone Dalek that hates OTHER Daleks far more. Soooo maybe?

I miss the classic Dr Who format having stories run over 4-6 weeks. Absolutely loved watching these as a kid back in the 80s/90s. Good old UK Gold showing classic episodes.
I remember first getting cable and I woke up at 6am on a Saturday morning to watch The Mind Robber on UK Gold and then taping so many of them. Happy days!
I didn't like waiting for a whole week to see the next episode to see how our heroes get out of the sticky situation, but loved the longer more epic stories as well as the excellent cliffhangers which had me glued to my seat and eyes fixed to the TV set. That's why I love home media. You can watch the whole thing in one go and still have longer more epic stories and see the excellent cliffhangers. When I first seen the show it was back in the early 90s when my home state of Utah, USA had a whole story on in one night each Saturday in a feature-length format. Then in the mid-90s, they took Doctor Who off for a few years before bringing them back in 99 in their original episodic format. Didn't like only getting a half an hour of Dr. Who when I was used to getting about 2 hours before, and hated waiting a whole week to see what happens next, but man, I did love seeing those cliffhangers. Couldn't wait for the next episode to air.
@DistortedDan Not to mention that the Mona Lisas weren't from different dimensions, just Leonardo painting it over and over. JFC, did this twit even watch that story?
@@dereknight861 Wish the 9 missing episodes of the 12-parter "The Daleks' Master Plan" were found. But then they say Episode 7 "The Feast of Steven" is the one most likely lost forever. Still, I'm happy to watch the Loose Cannon recons along with the surviving Episodes 2, 5 and 10. And I wish "The Tenth Planet" Episode 4 could be found too even though I do like the animated recreation on the DVD.
Man, I would have been so gutted if "The Tomb of the Cybermen" hadn't been recovered and was still missing. So glad Hong Kong had copies of all 4 parts. "City of Death" is one that I've seen, but have yet to buy on DVD.
Well I don't know if you are aware, but 97 Doctor Who episodes of the 60s are missing due to the BBC's old junking policy. From what I understand, this was mainly due to financial issues and the limited space in the BBC archives. Not only were Doctor Who episodes wiped or junked, but so were many other BBC shows that were considered to be of no further value as they were mostly black & white. When the junking policy finally ceased in 1978, hundreds of Doctor Who episodes were missing from the BBC archives and were thought to be lost forever. Even some of Jon Pertwee's episodes were missing for a time despite being in colour. However, copies were made before the original recordings were lost and many of them were sold worldwide. So since then, people around the world have managed to recover copies of Doctor Who episodes and other shows. They were either found among broadcasters in various countries or private film collectors. All 4 parts of "The Tomb of the Cybermen" were entirely missing for several years until sometime in the early 90s when copies were found with a broadcasting company in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, not all Doctor Who episodes have been found and 97 still remain missing (some of them possibly lost forever). Anyway, I hope I explained that clearly. I'm sorry if I didn't.
I hated it. I never liked Ace, and the "Ace's Angst" stories were just so godawful boring. I'm glad they got the #1 slot right, though. Genesis of the Daleks is the best of all the Who stories, Classic or Nu.
You can tell how much they like Doctor Who by his pronunciation of many names such as Troughton being pronounced Trorton, Romana as Ramona and Androzani as Androzanney.
No particular order: 1. Inferno 2. Caves of Androzani 3. The War Games 4. The Time Warrior 5. The Invasion 6. Genesis of the Daleks 7. Earthshock 8. Pyramids of Mars 9. Remembrance of the Daleks 10. Logopolis
If anyone's interested, I'm reviewing all the Doctor Who stories on my channel, with me just having uploaded Part 2 of my review of: 'The Time-Monster (1972)!' No pressure, of course, but might be worth checking out! :)
Ok but it’s like Agatha Christy novel called The Butler kills everyone and in a shocking twist the Butler indeed killed everyone In all seriousness I love Tom in that story and I think Leela and the rest of the cast do a great job supporting him and I like the setting pretty decent story
All things considered here's what I would deem the top 10: 1. Tomb of the Cybermen 2. Robots of Death 3. The Five Doctors 4. Remembrance of the Daleks 5. Earthshock 6. Genesis of the Daleks 7. City of Death 8. The Dalek Invasion of Earth 9. Survival 10. Inferno
10-the war games 9-The greatest show in the galaxy 8-inferno 7-genesis of the daleks 6-earthshock 5-battlefield 4-the sea devils 3-the curse of fenric 2-tomb of the cybermen 1-rememberence of the daleks
Eliot Brew bit of a McCoy fan there then,no way Battlefield should be on there or Greatest show only 7th stories would be Ghostlight and Curse of Fenric to get on a top 20 list No Talons,Ark in Space,Pyramids of mars,Caves of Androzani
Yeah and if Moffett had been running the classic series Adric would've been saved by the Doctor at the last minute, get his own TARDIS and run around time and space on his own with the understanding that, someday, he would return and die in the crash because when Moffett runs things no one important ever really dies.
Just glad he wasn't. I don't know what's with him and not being able to just let characters have heroic and dramatic deaths. It's like he thinks no one important should ever die in fiction.
Nightmarishly, there is actually a Big Finish story, "The Boy Who Time Forgot" where Adric survives and is rescued by the Doctor in a pocket-universe, but I prefer to forget about that...
Was it written by Moffet? Some people just can't leave well enough alone. It's like in comics when Jeff Johns brought back Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) and Barry Allen. Now, I agreed with Hal because his death horrible (became a villain, did a lot of bad things then died restarting the sun or something THEN became the new Specter) and needed to be fixed but Barry died a true hero and his death lead to Wally being the new Flash and lead to a lot of really great stories and characters. I love Barry but it just grinds the Flash legacy to a halt because Wally is too old be Kid Flash again so now you have to active Flashes (sometimes three if Jay Garrick is still around) and with Barry and Wally their costumes are very similar (not so much now but at other times) so it's really confusing for casual readers. Sometimes characters need to stay dead, especially when their death is dramatic and heroic.
It should be Top 10 Stories, not episodes. Anyway nice to see Inferno get a mention, although it should be in the top three for sure, I would argue. A wonderful masterpiece.
oh they would come on the list for sure but it;s just with the 4th episode of the 10th planet being the last episode of the first doctor and when we first see him regenerate and it was voted some time age as the most sort after lost episode
Given the long-running, somewhat chameleonic nature of Doctor Who, I feel like the best way to cover all the bases is to have a Top 10 Doctor Who episodes per Doctor. It was something of a shame, for example, to see no William Hartnell episodes anywhere, even in the honourable mentions. To my mind the history of that first series should have at least generated a few episodes to appear, such as An Unearthly Child (the very first Doctor Who serial), The Daleks (the first appearance of the Doctor's most well-known enemy), The Dalek Invasion Of Earth and The War Machines. There are also a few other episodes here and there that I think would stand tall amongst the other episodes on this list and in the honourable mentions, such as The Hand Of Fear (Tom Baker), The Green Death (Pertwee), The Five Doctors (Richard Hundall filling in for the late William Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Tom Baker and Davison) and The Horror Of Fang Rock (Tom Baker), just to name a few.
My list: 10. The War Games 9. The Dalek Invasion Of Earth 8. The Invasion 7. The Deadly Assasain 6. Earthshock 5. Tomb Of The Cybermen 4. Remeberance of the Daleks 3. Genesis Of The Daleks 2. The Caves Of Androzani 1. The Macra Terror
Just watched Genesis of the Darlek, started out slowly and had a few pointless escape attempt. But what makes the episodes so good was that it showed how evil Davros and the Daleks really are, and there origins is alot more confusing that I though. Also has a few ties in with more recent season, like season 9 at 11:18
Robots of Death has the unforgettable line from Taren Capel , " I will release more of our brothers from bondage, we will be irresistible " Course you will ducky !! :D
There is one story that they missed. It is on the top of every list of episodes from Doctor Who Magazine. The Talons of Wang-Chiang. It didn't even get an mention. So sad.
Yes thought the same, Jago and Litefoot best thing Big Finish did was to bring them to audio shame there will be no more though due to the sad death of Trevor Baxter (Litefoot) in 2017
Osian Coleman -Keys of Marinus -Mission to the Unknown -The Daleks Masterplan -The war machines -The Tenth Planet -Marco Polo -The Savages -The Massacre of St Bartholomew's eve -The Chase -The Time Meddler -The Daleks Invasion of Earth -The Sensorites -The Edge of Destruction are these stories "not as good"?
My Top 10 Favorite Classic Stories of All Time: 1. The Caves of Androzani 2. Genesis of the Daleks 3. The Tomb of the Cybermen 4. Pyramids of Mars 5. Survival 6. Remembrance of Daleks 7. The Sea Devils 8. The Three Doctors 9. The Keys of Marinus 10. The Enemy of the World

Awesome top 10. Here's mine. 10. The Ark In Space (Dodgy effects aside the sheer concept of the Wirrn is terrifying.) 9. The Hand Of Fear ( A B movie style plot with an emotional departure that felt geninunly touching in how low key it was) 8. The Caves Of Androzani ( The cliffhangers for part 1 and 3 never fail to make my jaw drop every time) 7. Carnival Of Monsters ( Batshit crazy and full of creativity like the Mind Robber but with a bit more substance and intrigue for me) 6. City Of Death (probably the funniest episode in all of Who history all while having a plot with stakes and tension. Plus Paris looks gorgeous New Who should return there) 5. Spearhead From Space ( A daring new set-up for the show. Pertwee just oozes charm and the Autons are an ingenious invention.) 4. The Enemy Of The World (The discovery of this episode was the highlight of the 50th anniversary for me. I enjoy how it broke the conventions of 60's Who. Troughton's performance as both the Doctor and Salamander is really gripping stuff) 3. The Tomb Of the Cybermen ( It maybe dated but this story still has classic status. The Cybermen's voices genuinely creep me out and the touching words of comfort the Doctor gives to Victoria sums up everything Doctor Who is about). 2. The Deadly Assassin (Much like The Caves of Androzani and Heaven Sent this story puts the Doctor through hell by disgracing him and by sending him to the Matrix and turning him into Rambo. I enjoyed seeing the inner workings of Gallifrey's rotten to the core society despite it normalising the Time lords a little bit. It helped us understand why the Doctor left Gallifrey in the first place. 1. Genesis Of The Daleks (Well watchmojo summed it up perfectly. I loved how solemn The Doctor is in this story he's far less jokey which really helped emphasis the stakes. I loved Davros's cold and calculating nature. I always get the sense that The Daleks were the most evil little shits in all creation in this story, maybe because the effects of the second world war were still being felt even after 30 years.)
great list, its really hard to do a top ten classic who, with so many stories, except for 6th you could easily do a top ten for EACH classic doctor list!
You know what, credit where's credit's due, this is a very good list. Usually when it comes to these kinds of lists online, I almost always disagree and feel like people just skim over a wikipedia page and pick out the ones that pop up the most, but this list really does show evidence of consideration to the quality and importance of these stories, and I agree with pretty much all of it. Now if only the narrator knew how to actually pronounce half the names he says...
No William Hartnell episodes on here? I could think that The Daleks, The Aztecs, The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Time Meddler, The War Machines, and the Tenth Planet as good stories to put on some this list. And Remembrance of the Daleks just as an HONORABLE MENTION...Really?
Love watching the clips of Dr Who, especially Classic Dr Who. I watched them as a child from the start although my memory of the earliest episodes is fragmentary at best as I was quite young.
Could you do timestamps rather than the list? below List entries and rank: #10. “Pyramids of Mars” #9. “The Curse of Fenric” #8. “The Tomb of the Cybermen” #7. “Inferno” #6. “The Ark in Space” #5. “Earthshock” #4. “The War Games” #3, #2, #1: ???
1)Caves Of Androzani 2)Talons Of Weng Chiang 3)Inferno 4)Deadly Assasin 5)Earthshock 6)Robots Of Death 7)Evil Of The Daleks 8)Seeds Of Doom 9)Dalek Invasion Of Earth 10)Mind Robber
"Pyramids of Mars" was the first Doctor Who related media I ever watched, back when they were showing a bunch of DW serials to promote the 1998 TV movie. However, I would not know that it was something that was from Doctor Who until I saw the episode "Reunion" from the revived series, and saw Sarah Jane Smith again. To this day, "Pyramids of Mars" is one of my favorite classic DW episodes, and the one I consider my first.
Funny thing is. Most great episodes are often followed my some of the worst in who. Earthshock was followed by time flight. Caves of Androzani followed by twin dilema. And genesis was followed by revenge of the cybermen. (Revenge isn't terrible but not good)
I have most of the Troughton stories on DVD. I really quite enjoy War Games, even though it's long and unwieldy and there's a lot of backtracking. I'll often watch it on long car rides. Kind of crazy to think there was never a story as long ever again, and think of all the precedents it set. Just an amazing story!
The Mona Lisas in "City of Death" weren't stolen from several different dimensions. They were all painted by da Vinci. Scaroth hired him to paint multiple copies.
So it's not the top ten classic Doctor Who "episodes" but the top ten "stories". Some people still can't get their head around the difference after all these years.
+Will Darby I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the list. It's one of my favorites now because it's a foreshadowing of the reality TV culture, about 15 years before it started.
I think I might have swapped "Talons of Wen Chiang" for one of these.... and maybe given an honorable mention to "Horror of Fang Rock" But really, this is a solid list.
All good stories, but here are some i'd have put in: The Mind Of Evil (an amazing mental showdown between The Dr and The Master with a formidable foe), The Invasion (perhaps the best of The Cybermen), The Invasion Of Time (Sontarans make an unexpected appearence and the following sequence through the TARDIS is amazing), The Three Doctors (Omega's antimatter creatures are super cool), The Five Drs (Gallifrey's Death Zone has so much potential for a return if done right), and possibly Silver Nemisis (like Remembrance Of The Daleks, The Dr's unfinished business on Earth makes for a great story)
Oh dear a list with one pertwee my friend you can't quite comprehend what really good doctor who is for example the sea Devils, spearhead from space and the daemons
A reasonable Top 10 of Classic Who greats... but no "The Talons of Weng-Chiang"?? Criminal. "The Brain of Morbius" and "The Daemons" might at least scrape an honorable mention. A couple on this list, such as "The Ark in Space" for pure example, are indeed excellent but could name those above or a couple of others maybe as deserving of a place on the list.
Here are my favorites, in order by Doctor (with City of Death being my all-time favorite Classic story): 1. THE CHASE 2. WEB OF FEAR 3. TIME WARRIOR 4. GENESIS OF THE DALEKS 4. CITY OF DEATH 4. INVASION OF TIME 4. TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG 5. THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI 6. ATTACK OF THE CYBERMEN 7. REMEMBRANCE OF THE DALEKS And all multi-incarnation stories.
10:The Enemy of the World 9: Genesis of the Daleks 8: The Green Death 7: The Daleks 6: The Tomb of the Cybermen 5:The Seeds of Doom 4: Doctor Who and the Silurians 3: The Talons of Weng-Chiang 2: Inferno 1: The Caves of Androzani
i wondered if Talons was politically incorrect but as a fan of the 1, 2, 3, 4 my favourite is Caves Of Androzani and i know thats a 5th Doctor story but for the first time in Peter Davison era he has 1 companion
Nice list. I don't agree with most of it, but you got number 1 right. I agree with Mr. Chapman, though, TOMB is wonderful. I'd still rank City of Death as the best WHO story ever. Funny yet thoughtful.
1.Terror of the Autons2. The Sea Devils3.The Silurians4. Spearhead from Space5. Genesis of the Daleks6. The Seeds of Doom7. The Green Death8 Planet of the Spiders9. The Pyramids of Mars10 Image of the Fendhal
My top 10: 1. Remembrance of the Daleks (Very action packed) 2. Vengeance on Varos (Proof that Colin Baker had good TV stories during his era) 3. Pyramids of Mars (Sutekh is a great villain and I'm happy he came back in the Big Finish audios) 4. The Web of Fear (My favorite Troughton story, although the recent animation for ep. 3 was not great) 5. The War Machines (Underrated Hartnell story) 6. The Tomb of the Cybermen (This story has my favorite design for the Cybermen) 7. Terror of the Autons (The first appearance of the Master and a good story to debut with) 8. The Three Doctors (Love seeing Troughton and Pertwee bicker with each other) 9. Robot (My favorite opening story for a new Doctor) 10. The Mind Robber (My favorite part is when Zoe fights the Karkus) Honorable Mentions: The Time Meddler (The first time we meet another member of the Doctors people, that is, aside from Susan) The Evil of the Daleks (The final Dalek story of the 60s) The War Games (It may be 10 episodes long, but still enjoyable. Plus it's the first appearance of the Time Lords) Spearhead from Space (Nice story to start off the Pertwee era) The Time Warrior (The first appearances of both Sarah Jane and the Sontarans) The Brain of Morbius (Doctor Who does Frankenstein) Earthshock (Excellent reintroduction to the Cybermen) The Five Doctors (An enjoyable anniversary special) The Caves of Androzani (What a way for Davison to go out, shame "The Twin Dilemma" wasn't as good) The Two Doctors (My two favorite Doctors together) Battlefield (The Brigs final classic story, and what a way to go out)
My list: 1. _Pyramids of Mars_ (No contest for me. Sutekh is the most powerful and terrifying villain in Doctor Who history). 2. _Genesis of the Daleks_ (A pivotal story that is beautifully written, designed and acted). 3. _The Caves of Androzani_ (See Number 2). 4. _Inferno_ (The first time a parallel universe was properly explored - with fantastic consequences). 5. _Frontier in Space_ (Roger Delgado's heartbreaking, untimely swansong showcases the best of his character). 5. _Remembrance of the Daleks_ (1963! Imperial Daleks! Renegade Daleks! The 7th Doctor and Ace being badass!). 6. _The Tomb of the Cybermen_ (Troughton's best performance, and my favourite of the classic Cybermen stories). 7. _The War Games_ (Troughton's swansong, well-delivered throughout the lengthy run of episodes). 8. _The Dalek Invasion of Earth_ (William Hartnell's most prevalent performance, with a very moving ending). 9. _The Time Warrior_ (The introduction of both Sarah Jane Smith and the Sontarans is a story to behold). 10. _The Curse of Fenric_ (The story that showcases the darkest aspects of both its villains and its Doctor). On another note, it's such a shame that the characterisation and scripts were so poor for Colin Baker (who shines in Big Finish), and that Paul McGann never got at least one full season of episodes. _The Night of the Doctor_ is my list's honourable mention - the best episode lasting under 30 minutes.
1.Genesis of the Daleks 2.Talons of Weng-Chiang 3.Caves of Androzani 4.Ghostlight 5.Spearhead from Space 6.The Mind Robber 7.The Ark in Space 8.Ambassadors of Death 9.The Five Doctors 10.Terror of the Zygons I know Five Doctors isn't great but still love it, Sorry Colin Baker love you with Big Finish but no tv stories would make top 20 for me
I've seen all of the classic episodes, except for the missing ones, but I've listened to most of them. The only ones I haven't listened to are The Massacre of Saint Bartholomew's Eve, The Savages, and The Smugglers.
My personal top ten would be10. The Caves Of Androzani 9. Remembrance Of The Daleks8. The Curse Of Fenric7. The Trial Of A Time Lord6. Spearhead From Space5. The Ambassadors Of Death4. The Deadly Assassin3. City Of Death2. Earthshock1. Genesis Of The Daleks
Some people scoff at the classic who coz of the special effects but the plots have more depth yet are easier to understand. Not an easy thing to do....

Shameful that there’s no Hartnell - knock off that McCoy and include the Daleks or Dalek Invasion of Earth. They’re both masterpieces of their time and we wouldn’t be talking about this series without them.
10)Survival 9)Inferno 8)The Ark in Space 7)Invasion of the Dinosaurs 6)The Crusade 5)The Ambassadors of Death 4)The Seeds of Death 3)The War Games 2)Marco Polo 1)Planet of the Spiders
The Tomb of the Cybermen is a bit overrated. And the War Games was a little bit too long, it could've been shortened by maybe 3-4 episodes. But NOTHING from William Hartnell? The introduction of the Daleks, and mainly, the beginning of the series should've made it.
1.The Tomb Of The Cybermen 2.The Caves Of Androzani 3.Inferno 4.The War Games 5.Genesis Of The Daleks 6.City Of Death 7.Earthshock 8.The Mind Robber 9.Remembrance Of The Daleks 10.Vengeance On Varos

I agree genesis of the daleks is #1, truly a wonderful origin story of the daleks (my favorite alien villains), the doctor's struggle, and davro's introduction
10. The Enemy of the World 9. The Time Warrior 8. Robots of Death 7. Revelation of the Daleks 6. The Invasion 5. Pyramids of Mars 4. Caves of Androzani 3. Inferno 2. Genesis of the Daleks 1. The War Games
1/ cAVES OF ANDRAZANI top 10 classic Doctor Who Episodes 2/ EARTHSHOCK 3/ GENESIS OF THE DALEKS 4/ ROBOTS OF DEATH 5/ MINDWARP 6/ REMEMBERANCE OF THE DALEKS 7/ TERMINUS 8/ THE RIBOS OPERATION 9/ TWIN DILEMMA 10/ NIGHTMARE ON EDAN
No Deadly Assassin? The Daleks? Definitely not top ten, but a favourite of mine is The Web Planet, only Doctor Who story to have no other human(oid) people in the story.
10)Fury from the Deep 9)Terror of the Zygons 8)The Web of Fear 7)The Deadly Assassin 6)The Evil of the Daleks. 5)Revelation of the Daleks 4)The Enemy of the World 3)The Androids of Tara 2)The War Games 1)2nd Cyberman Quatrology.(The Moonbase,The Tomb of the Cybermen,The Wheel in Space,The Invasion).
I would love to see one thing addressed in the modern Who: 'Does the Doctor regret his choice in Genesis of the Daleks?'
um look at all the dalek stories, what do you think?
Well...there are moments where Daleks have shown to evolve to WANT to go beyond their single lane mindset of hatred and destruction mostly in modern Who, like Eccleston’s “Dalek” the hybrid Sec and then the lone Dalek that hates OTHER Daleks far more.
Soooo maybe?
i think 12 answered that

How ironic that a British person mispronounces Doctor Who names
I've seen americans mispronounce star wars names before. It's not about where you are from, it's about how much of a fan you are.
It just goes to show that watch mojo doesn't do enough research.
@DistortedDan Not to mention that the Mona Lisas weren't from different dimensions, just Leonardo painting it over and over. JFC, did this twit even watch that story?
Well at least Davros’ name isn’t mispronounces

Yeaaaah...sadly I think the best stories are among the lost episodes.
@@dereknight861 Wish the 9 missing episodes of the 12-parter "The Daleks' Master Plan" were found. But then they say Episode 7 "The Feast of Steven" is the one most likely lost forever. What? please explain to me what you mean?
I really hope they find 'The Wheel in Space', it's the only cyberman one left!
@@alexinabox6931 The first DW complete story I watched. I saw a few episodes of the yeti and seaweed stories before that.
Alex Stilgoe I really want abominable snowmen
Always good to see Fenric getting the recognition it deserves.
But where's Survival?
Nivada Star It didn't survive!
One of the first Dr who episodes i saw.
I hated it. I never liked Ace, and the "Ace's Angst" stories were just so godawful boring.
I'm glad they got the #1 slot right, though. Genesis of the Daleks is the best of all the Who stories, Classic or Nu.
Yup. One of the best stories of all time!
You can tell how much they like Doctor Who by his pronunciation of many names such as Troughton being pronounced Trorton, Romana as Ramona and Androzani as Androzanney.
No particular order:
1. Inferno
2. Caves of Androzani
3. The War Games
4. The Time Warrior
5. The Invasion
6. Genesis of the Daleks
7. Earthshock
8. Pyramids of Mars
9. Remembrance of the Daleks
10. Logopolis
yep ,good choices!
@Harry GW
Very late, but...some of these can be torrented. (peer to peer).
wheres 'The Aztecs' & 'Enemy of the world' and 'spearhead from space' and horror of fang rock'.
I know right Horror of Fang Rock was the only classic who that put me on the edge of my seat and I had to keep watching
Yes, HFR. was among one of the best episodes of DW. Its a classic.
Spearhead from Space was classic
@@harold5337 Best Pertwee episode Probably best 1st story for any Doctor
If anyone's interested, I'm reviewing all the Doctor Who stories on my channel, with me just having uploaded Part 2 of my review of: 'The Time-Monster (1972)!' No pressure, of course, but might be worth checking out! :)
Shameful to not even give Robots of Death an honorable mention. One of the best plotted, best looking classic Who's ever.
Ok but it’s like Agatha Christy novel called The Butler kills everyone and in a shocking twist the Butler indeed killed everyone
In all seriousness I love Tom in that story and I think Leela and the rest of the cast do a great job supporting him and I like the setting pretty decent story
Yes robots was good
Throw hands at WatchMojo.😉
All things considered here's what I would deem the top 10:
1. Tomb of the Cybermen
2. Robots of Death
3. The Five Doctors
4. Remembrance of the Daleks
5. Earthshock
6. Genesis of the Daleks
7. City of Death
8. The Dalek Invasion of Earth
9. Survival
10. Inferno
"Trowton"? "Ramona"?? Things aren't going well so far.
David-George Brown I think we have all the evidence we need that they didn't actually watch the stories they rank.
Mooproxy We've known that since the other Doctor Who list, it got so many things wrong.
Shiraz Jek as well.
Andrew Malcolm not an easy one to be fair.
David-George Brown I suppose that story is like a fine red wine though!
So. Many. Mispronunciations!!!
AS Jake its watchmojo its what all do when they do videos
AS Jake ikr? How the fuck did he misprounce Sharaz?
It’s so obvious the guy didn’t watch the episodes 😂
10-the war games
9-The greatest show in the galaxy
8-inferno
7-genesis of the daleks
6-earthshock
5-battlefield
4-the sea devils
3-the curse of fenric
2-tomb of the cybermen
1-rememberence of the daleks
Eliot Brew agree on remembrance of the daleks. Such a good story line.
I loved rememberance
City of death?????
Eliot Brew bit of a McCoy fan there then,no way Battlefield should be on there or Greatest show only 7th stories would be Ghostlight and Curse of Fenric to get on a top 20 list
No Talons,Ark in Space,Pyramids of mars,Caves of Androzani
Yeah and if Moffett had been running the classic series Adric would've been saved by the Doctor at the last minute, get his own TARDIS and run around time and space on his own with the understanding that, someday, he would return and die in the crash because when Moffett runs things no one important ever really dies.
True
True
It should be Top 10 Stories, not episodes.
Anyway nice to see Inferno get a mention, although it should be in the top three for sure, I would argue. A wonderful masterpiece.
Top ten missing doctor who episodes
the last episode of the tenth planet would come first in that list
Something tells me it would be a little hard to find B-roll for that list.
Evil of the daleks
animelovers000 No Evil of the Daleks and Power of the Daleks
oh they would come on the list for sure but it;s just with the 4th episode of the 10th planet being the last episode of the first doctor and when we first see him regenerate and it was voted some time age as the most sort after lost episode
Do more doctor who lists!!!!!!!! They good
Also lol pronunciation of troughton and Romana and some planets hehe
My list:
10. The War Games
9. The Dalek Invasion Of Earth
8. The Invasion
7. The Deadly Assasain
6. Earthshock
5. Tomb Of The Cybermen
4. Remeberance of the Daleks
3. Genesis Of The Daleks
2. The Caves Of Androzani
1. The Macra Terror
Just watched Genesis of the Darlek, started out slowly and had a few pointless escape attempt. But what makes the episodes so good was that it showed how evil Davros and the Daleks really are, and there origins is alot more confusing that I though.
Also has a few ties in with more recent season, like season 9 at 11:18
I'm disappointed that Robots of Death wasn`t on this list.
it's awful
And the Talons of Weng-Chiang
Robots of Death has the unforgettable line from Taren Capel , " I will release more of our brothers from bondage, we will be irresistible " Course you will ducky !! :D
Robots of death is very good but it's still not top 10 material IMO
There is one story that they missed. It is on the top of every list of episodes from Doctor Who Magazine. The Talons of Wang-Chiang. It didn't even get an mention. So sad.
Was very surprised that Weng-Chiang wasn't at least an honourable mention. I mean, its Jago and Litefoot!
@@refsmithy A good episode, but has aged badly PC wise.
screw PC!
Yes thought the same, Jago and Litefoot best thing Big Finish did was to bring them to audio shame there will be no more though due to the sad death of Trevor Baxter (Litefoot) in 2017
no Hartnell episodes WTF
That's WatchMojo for you.
h0rnhead no colin baker episodes either, even though Colin Baker has some of the best 8 of 11 are really good
h0rnhead it’s cuz they just aren’t as good tbh.

My Top 10 Favorite Classic Stories of All Time:
1. The Caves of Androzani
2. Genesis of the Daleks
3. The Tomb of the Cybermen
4. Pyramids of Mars
5. Survival
6. Remembrance of Daleks
7. The Sea Devils
8. The Three Doctors
9. The Keys of Marinus
10. The Enemy of the World
I'm surprised Resurrection of the Daleks, Terror of the Zygons, An Unearthly Child and The Dalek invasion of Earth weren't mentioned
I LOVE Hartnell as the doctor, which is why I loved Capaldi, he brought back the "grumpy old man" to the character.
Inferno is the greatest Doctor Who story ever.
I kinda like Ambassadors of Death a little more but it’s ok to have different opinions
If anyone's interested, I'm reviewing all the Doctor Who stories on my channel, with me just having uploaded Part 2 of my review of: 'The Time-Monster (1972)!' No pressure, of course, but might be worth checking out! :)
It's Ro-mah-na, not Ro-moan-a. 🙄
Lol.
Ro-moan-a is her porn name. :)
+Thomas McDonald Great choice for your user pic! 👍
Romanadvoratrelundar - that 'd' is all important ;-)
Though Fred is acceptable as an alternative
Awesome top 10. Here's mine.
10. The Ark In Space (Dodgy effects aside the sheer concept of the Wirrn is terrifying.)
9. The Hand Of Fear ( A B movie style plot with an emotional departure that felt geninunly touching in how low key it was)
8. The Caves Of Androzani ( The cliffhangers for part 1 and 3 never fail to make my jaw drop every time)
7. Carnival Of Monsters ( Batshit crazy and full of creativity like the Mind Robber but with a bit more substance and intrigue for me)
6. City Of Death (probably the funniest episode in all of Who history all while having a plot with stakes and tension. Plus Paris looks gorgeous New Who should return there)
5. Spearhead From Space ( A daring new set-up for the show. Pertwee just oozes charm and the Autons are an ingenious invention.)
4. The Enemy Of The World (The discovery of this episode was the highlight of the 50th anniversary for me. I enjoy how it broke the conventions of 60's Who. Troughton's performance as both the Doctor and Salamander is really gripping stuff)
This was surprisingly a decent list. Shame about some of the pronunciations. Still much better WatchMojo. Well done.
No Talons or Fang Rock, shame
Admit it, you just like Louise Jameson in a leather bikini, don't you...?
They are just damn good stories if you want bikini over plot would point you towards Planet of Fire instead.
I was joking. Leela doesn't even wear her leather outfit in Talons.
Ya
@@Kartissa Leela never wore a bikini.
It's a cliched pick but... where is The Talons Of Weng Chiang or The Deadly Assassin? Definitely my top 2 ever
Cryer24597 but they're lost
Cryer24597: Personally, I think The Time Meddler is the best Hartnell story. I think The Aztecs is slightly overrated.
none of those stories are lost numpty
n d
daleks masterplan is crap
When I started watching the old Doctor Who stories, I happened to pick Genesis of the Daleks first, and it got me into classic Who
"We do videos everyday" this video was from 4 days ago?!
it has been a week now
S Alex probably something to do with the fact that this video is by far the channels biggest hit
It's pronounced wirren... watch a bit before you record eh?
that's not their style, their style is quick and cheap (copy and paste opinions)
Ha you actually think they bother watching before posting your so funny
Love watching the clips of Dr Who, especially Classic Dr Who. I watched them as a child from the start although my memory of the earliest episodes is fragmentary at best as I was quite young.
Most of these are Tom Baker serials, enough said. ☺️💕
I love Doctor Who.
Laura Bella - And he loves you.
I know 😊
That's why we're here
Must agree
I don't know why I never got into Doctor Who as a child and instead became a Whovian when I was 19.
Could you do timestamps rather than the list? below
List entries and rank:
#10. “Pyramids of Mars”
#9. “The Curse of Fenric”
#8. “The Tomb of the Cybermen”
#7. “Inferno”
#6. “The Ark in Space”
#5. “Earthshock”
#4. “The War Games”
#3, #2, #1: ???

2)Talons Of Weng Chiang
3)Inferno
4)Deadly Assasin
5)Earthshock
6)Robots Of Death
7)Evil Of The Daleks
8)Seeds Of Doom
9)Dalek Invasion Of Earth
10)Mind Robber
"Pyramids of Mars" was the first Doctor Who related media I ever watched, back when they were showing a bunch of DW serials to promote the 1998 TV movie. However, I would not know that it was something that was from Doctor Who until I saw the episode "Reunion" from the revived series, and saw Sarah Jane Smith again. To this day, "Pyramids of Mars" is one of my favorite classic DW episodes, and the one I consider my first.
first off these are stories not episodes
Same thing.
no episodes implies that the top 10 will consist of single episodes, but they were all serials back then not episodes
they're serials.
Stories episodes serials same thing
+Alex Macleod Nope. On average a DW serial is comprised of 4 episodes.
Wheres the 1st doctor? He deserves something
Iconic british show ever!
My favourite story is enemy of the world, and that's not just out of the classics that's out of Doctor Who in general
I really enjoyed all the first episodes when they aired. It's sad that many of them are no more.
episodes or stories. There are ten stories missing from 1st and 6 from 2nd, though faceless ones is due for rerelease next month
08:01 ramona ffs
So it's not the top ten classic Doctor Who "episodes" but the top ten "stories". Some people still can't get their head around the difference after all these years.
Thanks for including Vengeance on Varos
+Will Darby I was pleasantly surprised to see it on the list. It's one of my favorites now because it's a foreshadowing of the reality TV culture, about 15 years before it started.
I liked Vengeance on Varos, but I didn't think it deserved a mention.
I think I might have swapped "Talons of Wen Chiang" for one of these.... and maybe given an honorable mention to "Horror of Fang Rock" But really, this is a solid list.
All good stories, but here are some i'd have put in:
The Mind Of Evil (an amazing mental showdown between The Dr and The Master with a formidable foe), The Invasion (perhaps the best of The Cybermen), The Invasion Of Time (Sontarans make an unexpected appearence and the following sequence through the TARDIS is amazing), The Three Doctors (Omega's antimatter creatures are super cool), The Five Drs (Gallifrey's Death Zone has so much potential for a return if done right), and possibly Silver Nemisis (like Remembrance Of The Daleks, The Dr's unfinished business on Earth makes for a great story)
Oh dear a list with one pertwee my friend you can't quite comprehend what really good doctor who is for example the sea Devils, spearhead from space and the daemons
Can you do the top 10 big finish stories this was amazing
Chimes of Midnight no1 without question
A reasonable Top 10 of Classic Who greats... but no "The Talons of Weng-Chiang"?? Criminal.
"The Brain of Morbius" and "The Daemons" might at least scrape an honorable mention. A couple on this list, such as "The Ark in Space" for pure example, are indeed excellent but could name those above or a couple of others maybe as deserving of a place on the list.
I doubt they even watched much of the show
Here are my favorites, in order by Doctor (with City of Death being my all-time favorite Classic story):
1. THE CHASE
2. WEB OF FEAR
3. TIME WARRIOR
4. GENESIS OF THE DALEKS
4. CITY OF DEATH
4. INVASION OF TIME
4. TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG
5. THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI
6. ATTACK OF THE CYBERMEN
7. REMEMBRANCE OF THE DALEKS
And all multi-incarnation stories.
10:The Enemy of the World
9: Genesis of the Daleks
8: The Green Death
7: The Daleks
6: The Tomb of the Cybermen
5:The Seeds of Doom
4: Doctor Who and the Silurians
3: The Talons of Weng-Chiang
2: Inferno
1: The Caves of Androzani
i wondered if Talons was politically incorrect but as a fan of the 1, 2, 3, 4 my favourite is Caves Of Androzani and i know thats a 5th Doctor story but for the first time in Peter Davison era he has 1 companion
...
(You forgot the Daleks’ Master Plan...)
The Pyramids of Mars10 Image of the Fendhal
thriddoctor you like the third doctor era don't You?
My top 10:
1. Remembrance of the Daleks (Very action packed)
2. Vengeance on Varos (Proof that Colin Baker had good TV stories during his era)
3. Pyramids of Mars (Sutekh is a great villain and I'm happy he came back in the Big Finish audios)
4. The Web of Fear (My favorite Troughton story, although the recent animation for ep. 3 was not great)
5. The War Machines (Underrated Hartnell story)
6. The Tomb of the Cybermen (This story has my favorite design for the Cybermen)
7. Terror of the Autons (The first appearance of the Master and a good story to debut with)
8. The Three Doctors (Love seeing Troughton and Pertwee bicker with each other)
9. Robot (My favorite opening story for a new Doctor)
10. The Mind Robber (My favorite part is when Zoe fights the Karkus)
Honorable Mentions:
The Time Meddler (The first time we meet another member of the Doctors people, that is, aside from Susan)
The Evil of the Daleks (The final Dalek story of the 60s)
The War Games (It may be 10 episodes long, but still enjoyable. Plus it's the first appearance of the Time Lords)
Spearhead from Space (Nice story to start off the Pertwee era)
The Time Warrior (The first appearances of both Sarah Jane and the Sontarans)
The Brain of Morbius (Doctor Who does Frankenstein)
Earthshock (Excellent reintroduction to the Cybermen)
The Five Doctors (An enjoyable anniversary special)
The Caves of Androzani (What a way for Davison to go out, shame "The Twin Dilemma" wasn't as good)
The Two Doctors (My two favorite Doctors together)
Battlefield (The Brigs final classic story, and what a way to go out)
My list:
1.Genesis of the Daleks
2.Talons of Weng-Chiang
3.Caves of Androzani
4.Ghostlight
5.Spearhead from Space
6.The Mind Robber
7.The Ark in Space
8.Ambassadors of Death
9.The Five Doctors
10.Terror of the Zygons
I know Five Doctors isn't great but still love it, Sorry Colin Baker love you with Big Finish but no tv stories would make top 20 for me
Wow you guys have done like over 5 Doctor Who vids :)
So glad to say that I've watched all of these
Me too.
Me 3 :)
I've seen all of the classic episodes, except for the missing ones, but I've listened to most of them. The only ones I haven't listened to are The Massacre of Saint Bartholomew's Eve, The Savages, and The Smugglers.
Ty Will Me too Roger
My personal top ten would be10. The Caves Of Androzani 9. Remembrance Of The Daleks8. The Curse Of Fenric7. The Trial Of A Time Lord6. Spearhead From Space5. The Ambassadors Of Death4. The Deadly Assassin3. City Of Death2. Earthshock1. Genesis Of The Daleks
Some people scoff at the classic who coz of the special effects but the plots have more depth yet are easier to understand. Not an easy thing to do....

12th the zygon inversion that speech one of the finest pieces of writing in modern history!!! (magicians apprentice, the second coolest entrance in who history!)
no particular order for them!
War Games being an expensive one
Come live in the UK then where it's only £6.
Lord Slarr isn't that like $10?
Probably, it wouldn't be much if you wanted to import it.
Shameful that there’s no Hartnell - knock off that McCoy and include the Daleks or Dalek Invasion of Earth.
They’re both masterpieces of their time and we wouldn’t be talking about this series without them.
Its good to see Inferno do so well

7)Invasion of the Dinosaurs
6)The Crusade
5)The Ambassadors of Death
4)The Seeds of Death
3)The War Games
2)Marco Polo
1)Planet of the Spiders
The Tomb of the Cybermen is a bit overrated. And the War Games was a little bit too long, it could've been shortened by maybe 3-4 episodes. But NOTHING from William Hartnell? The introduction of the Daleks, and mainly, the beginning of the series should've made it.
1.The Tomb Of The Cybermen

2. The Three Doctors
1. Rememberance of the Daleks
Second Doctor iconic sentence: "Oh! Well..."
Never expected that number 1 😱
I agree genesis of the daleks is #1, truly a wonderful origin story of the daleks (my favorite alien villains), the doctor's struggle, and davro's introduction
Maybe have someone who knows the show watch the video before it goes out, maybe then you'll pronounce the names right.
#5. I'll be back. *Turns off my phone, lie down on my bed and cry for the next 2 hours*
I'd argue that season 26 is one of the most solid seasons in the classic Doctor Who series since at least Tom Baker's first three seasons.
10. The Enemy of the World
9. The Time Warrior
8. Robots of Death
7. Revelation of the Daleks
6. The Invasion
