Thanks mate, if there’s anything I am it’s a free spirit. I just think it’s funny to fly with the wind. Wait till you see tonight’s vlog🤣winging it special.
Had jai the only place I've seen a thai driver stop at a zebra crossing in over 30 years of traveling and living there. Was a very funny moment the guy saw my shock and was smiling and gave me a wave. Great moment
Had Yai used to be quite vibrant especially over the weekends when Malaysian tourists hopped over the border. It died around 2013/4 ....it has become a tourist ghetto.
Santisuk market used to be bustling in the old days--full of shops selling cheap goods ranging from snacks, clothing, toys, electronics, and computer software. Most of the goods were smuggled goods that avoided customs duties. The market has gone quiet for many years due to several factors like free trade agreements that eliminate import duties (so you can find cheap goods anywhere in Thailand--no need to come to Santisuk), online shopping, and COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks Robert, if I’m anywhere near mate I’d love to meet up. I’m meeting friends in Phuket around the 10th of March. When I’ll be back in Thailand depends on how my channel to be honest💯👍🏻
Nasi Goreng one of garys favourites he li ed in Malaysia as a child and he cooks this at home with prawns its lush. A really good market clothes and food whats not to like😊
Hi Stuart, I need to find the time to watch the back. It’s a struggle with doing everyday vlogs/research and then the editing and uploading. Id turn it up 6% everytime but I understand sometimes that may not be enough. Thanks for the input.
Thanks Graham, I’ve already arrived in Georgetown straight from Hat Yai because that was the last day of my Visa. Just trying to figure my next move from here heading South
Continuing my binge watching to catch up on your vlogs ☺️ The market vendors just don't like the camera at all, but at least they aren't bothering you with trying to sell their stuff. It's a good repellent. I love that you stick to the pricing that you know - not paying double for the sausage on a stick!! Personally, I don't get the same feel from Hat Yai as from any of the other towns you've been too. Probably my least favourite place so far (sorry, Hat Yai!). That canal/river was so dry. How long will be staying in Malaysia for?
Thanks Greg, yes I don’t understand the market vendors. We are promoting the town/city and market. You’d think they’d be a lot more responsive, also I’m not sure I’d return(sorry Hat Yai too). Unfortunately I couldn’t find any decent WiFi while in Malaysia and my research told me is wasn’t going to get better. Everyday vlogs that’s paramount to me. Also my health took a big hit. All is explained in tonight’s vlog, sorry to be a spoiler in letting you know💯
I stayed just down the road from that 2nd market you want to it was a 3 star hotel and I was the only western there at that time (last year) I was in that market each morning and it was the same with the police there so many I stayed for a whole week as my partner lives in there
That Thai lady making hand gestures to you, (you were complaining the place was struggling) she was trying to tell you to come back Tomorrow there will be many people there tomorrow. 😁
I've not been to the South of LOS. Would be interesting to spend a week, or so, in Hat Yai and the surrounding districts, so as to get a feel for the night scenes and stuff. Am wondering how the proximity to Malaysia, along with the Muslim Thais and Malaysians migrants, influences the region. Am guessing many fish and chicken, as they disavow pork, but maybe the area would suit a lamb-loving dude, like myself (pork is just chicken, with four legs, to me - lol) and I'm guessing some of their curries would be outstandingly good. I've not visited Malaysia, so am looking forward to your coming reports. Hope you have a good trip.
Indeed - hence me saying 'muslim dominant' rather than 'completely and utterly muslim'. Eat what's popular, if you want to gin muu di, come to the north where it's a staple
It's a border town mate they always have big police presence. Also the large if police is probably due to a lot of smuggling happens over the border to and from Malaysia . There is also a problem with separatist in the southern states of Thailand.
Because why so many police there have problems from time to time with muslim extremists also close to malay which as you know is predominantly Muslim cheers richie good vlog enjoyed
"not a lot to show you in Hat Yai" .you say . All Thai towns are the same ,same architecture ,same main thoroughfare . Maybe some are a bit different . and you could say the same about most countries
Thailand in mainly 3 southern states has had problems for a very long time with Islamic differences parts of Thailand belonged to Malaysia in the past apparently?
Whhat makes channels like this ineesting is the human ineeactions the vlogger has with the locals, there is none of that on here aimlessley wandeing around markets mumbling about pices is not very exciting , you seem like a nice guy but you need to liven things up to grow the channel.
I’ll take that on board mate, a lot of people shy away from the camera. I do have some interactions like being invited to the Thai farm for food in Kanchanaburi. It never got as many views as my normal vlogs tbh
Sorrry i tthink that came over a bit meeaner than intened,, i like your vlogs and i want you channel to grow so its just someting i thoughtt may help a little.
Quality video Richy, we loved Hat Yai but never got to film it because of rain 🌧

Nice1 Richy, that clock tower bell would have been the godfather of bells to ring! 😆
Looks like an interesting place to visit
Thanks Bernard, it was very different being the Muslim side of the country. The bell would of being nice🤣

The first day was definitely an experience mate lol.
Great tour Richie! I am relocating to Thailand next month
Thanks mate, great choice I bet you can’t wait.
There’s plenty more to come from Thailand in the future.
Had jai the only place I've seen a thai driver stop at a zebra crossing in over 30 years of traveling and living there. Was a very funny moment the guy saw my shock and was smiling and gave me a wave. Great moment

Good wishes for your onward travel
Thank you Mary
Had Yai used to be quite vibrant especially over the weekends when Malaysian tourists hopped over the border. It died around 2013/4 ....it has become a tourist ghetto.
It was a strange City Alistair. It’s a shame you could tell it was once more vibrant but lots of places are closed now.

Thank you mate, many people have mentioned that it used to be a lot busier. Sad for the City unfortunately.
Superb video Richy. I am coming to Hat Yai in March love to meet you or Bangkok. Keep going mate😅

Hi Jason, I can’t remember seeing any westerners but yes so many police. Apparently being so near the border they keep a close eye on it.
That Thai lady making hand gestures to you, (you were complaining the place was struggling) she was trying to tell you to come back Tomorrow there will be many people there tomorrow. 😁
Aww right, I had no idea. I wasn’t so much complaining just stating what I seen. Thanks Mark👍🏻
Also said b4 then thought more ask for Yai which is big and prit as you know is spicy . So if you say yai prit it means big spicy.
Nice one, I do love really spicy, thanks
@saddq1 i usually say phed phed and it comes really spicy

but of course ,being in the south you have the head scarfs

The further south in Thailand, more Muslims
