I remember DanTDM saying his generation of youtubers didn't do it in the expectations of money and fame. They just did it for fun. The idea of a singular person blowing up like that on a platform wasn't even a thing at that time, and I feel like that's what makes that era of youtube special. It was more grounded and personal, and the algorithm hadn't quite been 'figured out' yet.

I think old youtube is slowly returning but it isn't there yet, I feel like right now we're in an era of video essays/documentaries. Nowadays I hardly see any Mr beast type content

Hard disagree on quality vs quantity. The best relatable, passionate and creative creators on TH-cam have no upload schedule and often make long form high quality content that is memorable enough to make people wait around and be rewarded with the next upload. Posting loads of similar videos that keyword stuff bigger creators doesn't work and the lack of viewership on your videos is proof enough. I've been on this platform since 2007, I know what works.
