anyway I can get a close up of the pre fire plan/operations form the gentlemen had shown at the beginning of the clip. I am currently seeking to create one for my department as a quick cheat sheet/reference/reminder during crash ops
I’ve got a few questions: What’s op to comm? What would they do if there’s more than one aircraft on fire? Why they aren’t wearing the silver aircraft fire suits? Does the station also service areas other than the airport?
I'm a volunteer firefighter from Australia, so I can't say anything for certain. But from what I know, Opticom will change all traffic lights to red at an intersection except for yours. Hope that helps a bit :)
Could the local highway department paint a red centerline like the ones on the runway, from the station to the airport entrance to aid the driver in keep the vehicle on track. Not an FF but thought it might help.
Why are they wearing structural gear and not silvers? Also, I would like to know why they positioned directly in front of the aircraft which is a dangerous place to be?
Studies have shown that structural gear provides the same amount of protection as proximity gear. Also some proximity gear is not rated for interior operations, and entering the fuselage is essentially interior fire attack. Another reason is because the proximity gear does not “breathe” as well as structural gear leading to overheating of the wearer. Also the aluminized coating of proximity gear is prone to degradation over time and begins to flake off which then defeats the ability to reflect the heat. I asked the same question to a friend, who is an ARFF crew Captain.
Is this why south metro has stopped uploading videos they partnered with you? Video frequency from them has been incredibly disappointing, seems like they stopped caring about public relations.

Most airports no longer wear silvers. They are not worth the negatives compared to regular turnout gear.
@@JamieR1234 what’s wrong with the silvers?
@@dogloversrule8476 breakdown quicker, don’t breath, can tear when crawling, etc.
@@JamieR1234 ok, thanks
Great video!

I’ve seen other TH-camrs do videos with south metro.
I think it's a combo of many things. One of the PIOs left, so Eric has been running solo, and his main job is dealing with the media
Lmfaoooo what they uploaded one last week you should put your crack pipe down 😂😂😂
2 of their PIO Officers have left, so it is Eric is doing what he can until they hire more staff
