If it’s not clear, ultimately my ranking of these commanders comes down to saving you money. If you can get by with a free version of the commander, then use that one. Also I would say some of my own biases are apparent… EX:since I have Kuznetsov at a high level I didn’t focus hard on ranking up AL cruiser commanders. Thus I’ve never gave Avrora a chance. (Or chapayev) So much of this is subjective… what ship lines and nation a person plays and enjoys, different play styles, DD main vs Bb main etc. so take it all with a grain of salt! anyways, I do hope it was helpful in some way! ❤
I'm primarily F2P, but that AL Balty $15 deal is too good to pass up and she's included, but I sorta figured she wouldn't stack up versus my 16/3 Scott. I get what you mean about a lot of these when I've already ranked up our free Commanders, like you my Kuznetsov is high (16/2) so dropping $20 on an alternative is a hard sell. Will have to see when I open my 5 crates from the Assignment, maybe I'll luck across one of your S Tier!
Mmmmmm for azur lane Bismarck, I don’t use her, but I would use her “Wahrheit” why, because in the legendary perk where running with scissors is on the right their is a perk right there that is arguably a little worse then the slot 3 “firefighter” the perk is “fight fire with fire” which is a little worse “firefighter” it gets the same perk of when damagecon is on cooldown “ if there is 3 fires while you Damagecon is on cooldown they will automatically go out” so fight fire with fire arguably makes the reason for taking firefighter pointless if your doing a secondary build, the only bonus firefighter gives you are damage control cooldown time and risk of catching fire l, which is crap because your always going to be on fire regardless This is not a bash or anything I don’t like “running with scissors” need all the accuracy I can get I like your content and I’m more of a survivability person myself but I use Haruna and von hipper so

I have a buddy who loves to play carriers, so Montpellier is A Tier for me. Putting her on Worcester or Rochester (or even Des Moines) with King as an inspiration makes for an amazing ship in carrier matches. You can singlehandedly shut down a CV from harassing an entire side of the map if you are able to position correctly. She's also a great inspiration for Mino, Brisbane, and DeProv. Highly recommend to anyone who likes cruisers and plays in carrier divisions frequently.

Also I think I was too hard on Neptune and Cheshire… again because I have Belfast at a high ranking. I’ve never poured resources into the newer versions that dropped. (Although I do still hate Neptunes skill set). It takes a LOT of resources to get a commander to 16/3 or 16/4. I hate wasting so many resources to have 3 of a similar commander that high. This is part of the monetization of wowsl….sell new commanders, that you’ll use resources to level up.
I think one of the biggest issues with commanders and how we view them is specifically with the defensive traits and the damage reduction perks is its very hard to show concrete examples and evidence of how they help vs traits / perks which show XX % of accuracy or XX % of increasing rate of fire or speed or rudder / HP pool / range. Like how do you measure the pen angle buff for Cheshire and survivability because so much is dependent on the player angling correctly. That actually might be an interesting video ... like trying to showcase some of the harder to measure perks and buffs ... cheers Derka !!

For me Graf Spee is S tier, it's not only what the commander has but what it enables. That ghost concealment perk means you can take prop mod 2 and steering gears mod 3 while having the same detection as regular cruisers yet agile and manoeuvrable, with no fly zone ghost punch through and steer clear you have 11.2 concealment 5.8 rudder and still hit like a truck. It pretty much combines lutjens and muller into one. Plus those carriers can only see you from 5.6km away and 8.6km when shooting, it really is a game changer for aggressive players.
@@kurtwagner350Well since mulher rework with the new bell passive. Nothing come close to him, neither Augustin rigerwald. The ability to gass and break really fast and become agile build on a Dpm build is something that not a single commander in this game ever dream to reach that.

They need a second Italian brawling BB commander for that. At that point, if youre adding someone, you may as well make it a Secondary Cruiser commander.
On Reddit I saw users stating that AL Baltimore is actually better suited on the light cruiser line. Apparantly with Apsolute ammunition their AP shells almost get no overpens on DDs and the superstructures of cruisers and BBs.
Nice breakdown. Funny how a lot of these really depends on personal preference. I know of two CC's who sort of thinks Belfast is meh vs you who loves her. It really depends again on what your game style is and what you like to do with specific ships. Practically everyone doing these things way underestimates how good Zara is. The buffs to SAP that she brings just can't be understated. A tier commander easily.
APsolute Ammunition is only a thing for Congress, a tier 7 Alaska, if you are getting annoyed with overpenning every cruisers on tier 7 and bellow, you use that perk, but honestly, dealing more dmg to Bbs is great!
Hey There Derka, I have a question or two regarding the elephant in the room... AL.....Atago. Where would she go on your Tier List? I have had this particular commander since her initial debut in WoW Legends, but curious as to where you'd rank this particular commander that has become a desired rarity among the player base. It's unfortunate that she's unavailable indefinitely. What makes this video very enjoyable for me is that it's put together through a logical lens...I can see and appreciate the hard work you put into this presentation. This video has me reconsidering 3 Azur Lane commanders that I've had since forever...AL Yukikaze (14/1), AL Belfast (14/2), and AL Hipper (15/2). I've been relying on AL Graf Spee for all of my German cruisers with very good to excellent results as I don't have that Warhammer Reigerwald commander. Fraser (16/3) has been my go-to with the British cruisers, with very good results, and I've been using Kurita (15/3) for the IJN gunboats...with mixed results. He's at 15/3 not because I used promotion orders...I kept getting Kuritas in those commander crates, it was ridiculous. If there was to be a commander with an asterisk perhaps it would be AL Azuma. As you stated she's ship-specific toward Azuma and Yoshino. I have Azuma, and play it weekly so I have her leveled up to 16/3 for that purpose. Her influence on her namesake ship cannot be overstated, but it requires some heavily-focused investment to get her there, and so far I have AL Azuma at 16/3 which is great BUT she really needs to be 16/4 in my opinion, because of that specific 4th slot perk, which can be a caveat. I'd rank AL Azuma at A-Tier and possibly even S-Tier IF leveled up to the max, but that's just me. I have all of the S-Tier commanders on your list accept for AL Colorado and AL Sov. Rossiya. I have AL NJ at 16/3 so I'm not feeling the need to acquire AL Colorado but I will have to get AL Sov. Rossiya at some point. I have one final question... Have you ranked the Arpeggio commanders yet? If not, will you consider doing so in the future? As always you've hit another home run with this video. Cheers! -Moony
Hey Moony, hope you’re doing well! Atago would have to be S tier. The 8% buff to fire chance per shell is ridiculous lol. Especially on Suzuya, or even Zao, it’s quite insane. Also, I find her inspiration useful on DDs sometimes. It generally reduces torp rx time by a higher percent than using Fishy for 4 knots more speed. As for the arpeggio ones I don’t think I have. Honestly that collab didn’t excite me, but if they ever return in force I’d consider ranking them! Take care my friend

If I have AL New Jersey and Hoshino, is there really any point in getting Colorado? As a commander, Hoshino seems purely better than Colorado. While Col’s inspiration might be slightly better objectively, I don’t think it’s better enough to warrant the resources as solely an inspiration, but what do you think?
Idk why im more happy with Hoshino over AL NJ. The extra damage is nice but I find when the rounds do hit I end up getting dev strikes anyway Also loving Zara as a inspiration for sansonietti...making duca wayyy too fun
Derka please try this build on Montana and Ohio I am loving it 😁. Colorado with Flammable cannonier, gyrating drill bits, on second thought, courageous shelling, will to rebuild, inspirations Paolo di Revel and Ding Ruchang. Then finally put an Epic or legendary main battery mod 3 boost on the ship if you can. It brings The base reload down to 22 seconds, The BA Montana would be 20 seconds. Not to mention the 16 second reload every 3 shots. Then if the legendary perk is active that just decreases as the battle progresses. Absolute monster of a build.
My largest criticism of AL Zara is something you danced around. AL Zara in her skills has the exact same dpm boosts as Sansonetti but Sansonetti's is unconditional so it'll have a higher uptime compared to Zara. So me that means using Sansonetti w/ Zara as an inspiration is better than Zara by herself. But paying 5k dubs for an inspiration only commander on a single line of ships in the game is a massive ask. An ask that's way too large imo.
It was sad to see two of my most used commanders in D tier, but it's a preference tho. I have Azuma and Yoshino at my top 5 played ships, so AL Azuma was my first 16/4 commander. AL Cheshire is my go to commander for The Royal Navy, Fully packed and improved ricochet angles keep me afloat for the whole match.
I've got AL Montpelier maxed. Run her on a few ships with good base AA. She is absolutely insane on Worcester. Don't have Legends up rn but I think max AA range is 8.8km. Of course you don't see many Carriers at LT but when you do it's a nightmare for enemy aircraft. Run her alot on Rochester and San Diego as well

Rossiya; Do you think running Von Essen as an inspiration (increased minimal ricochet angle of shells) would pair well, not so well or interfere with her special skill "Battle Cry"? I'm trying it at the moment and I can't tell if I'm on to a good thing or wasting an inspiration slot or worse.
Cheshire is my go to commander for the Bortas. I feel she makes it just that much more tanky. I know for most one premium commander for one premium ship isn’t worth it.
I toss about AL Colorado, since she is awesome commander AND inspiration and AL Dunkerque, since she makes French BBs playable. Can only buy 1! :/ P.S. Thanks for the video 👍

Wow I’m shocked AL Baltimore was only given C tier. For a long time she was my only Azur Lane commander so we certainly enjoyed some good matches. Certainly a Wanchor build when specced into rudder. To each their own.

Bey would likely be the best, his base trait is super helpful. Level him up and use him as an inspo in all other DDs. I wouldn’t recommend putting a Bb commander on a dd (scharnhorst)
tough, I honestly like them both so much. But if I were trying to save money I personally would pick Colorado, cause I use her as an inspiration on all of my other BB builds. Grouping + reload is clutch

I personally think when it comes to AL Commanders, they all are great. if anything, get what you like and enjoy. I did do the math and for the entire AL Content it's $750+ (at least in my case it is, it can be less or more for others) making it a pretty penny, I have NJ and Balt and Avrora. I need to get Nelson (Conqueror), Colorado (Vermont and Monty) and Litorrio (for Marco Polo that I picked up a few weeks back) maybe Scharnhorst as she's been meta for inspirations on USN Commanders. it's going to cost me $100.... lol

@DerkaGames that's the unfortunate irony. The ones I am looking for would be the ones I would use all the time. Especially Nelson and Litorrio, as I only used Polo once, been wanting Litorrio since release for that very reason. Scharn, as I mentioned, would be my USN Inspiration for Sims and others as dispersion at 19k (19.3k on my Vermont on bigger maps) is unforgiving. The ships are interesting. These ships were literally the precursor to the BA Monty and Tirpitz where their stats and makeup are different from their tech tree counterparts, especially Soviet BB Rous, which when it came out was rough to go against. Luckily, I can afford it this one time. They better have an offline mode when servers get taken down... invested too much as it is now, though not as much as Mass Effect Andromeda...
I passed on AL NJ cuz Hoshino is plenty strong imo. Having 6 heals for ships like Georgia or massa is just too good... who needs a sniper build when we playing aggro BB to haphazardly fight the reds who rush caps 😅
I have a question! Why does Sovesky Rossiya have so many clothes on??? I feel like she would be a real hottie if she was dressed like all the others. I still use her a lot, but I think she would be much better if she dressed like an AL commander. Just my thoughts.

Shokaku is useless. Speed for carrier and planes and boost for concealment… nah. Not worth it. If she would have slot for torpedo speed (+4 or 5 knots) or maybe HP boost for planes I would consider to purchase but so far it’s useless.

AL Cheshire is a Bortas and Edinburgh commander, if they don't overmatch your armor, you just bounce shells a lot more.

I've been using aurora on al chappy for the extra fire chance, and he shell buff.

Practically everyone doing these things way underestimates how good Zara is. The buffs to SAP that she brings just can't be understated. A tier commander easily.
APsolute Ammunition is only a thing for Congress, a tier 7 Alaska, if you are getting annoyed with overpenning every cruisers on tier 7 and bellow, you use that perk, but honestly, dealing more dmg to Bbs is great!

Where would she go on your Tier List?
I have had this particular commander since her initial debut in WoW Legends, but curious as to where you'd rank this particular commander that has become a desired rarity among the player base. It's unfortunate that she's unavailable indefinitely.
What makes this video very enjoyable for me is that it's put together through a logical lens...I can see and appreciate the hard work you put into this presentation. This video has me reconsidering 3 Azur Lane commanders that I've had since forever...AL Yukikaze (14/1), AL Belfast (14/2), and AL Hipper (15/2).
I've been relying on AL Graf Spee for all of my German cruisers with very good to excellent results as I don't have that Warhammer Reigerwald commander. Fraser (16/3) has been my go-to with the British cruisers, with very good results, and I've been using Kurita (15/3) for the IJN gunboats...with mixed results. He's at 15/3 not because I used promotion orders...I kept getting Kuritas in those commander crates, it was ridiculous.
If there was to be a commander with an asterisk perhaps it would be AL Azuma.
As you stated she's ship-specific toward Azuma and Yoshino. I have Azuma, and play it weekly so I have her leveled up to 16/3 for that purpose. Her influence on her namesake ship cannot be overstated, but it requires some heavily-focused investment to get her there, and so far I have AL Azuma at 16/3 which is great BUT she really needs to be 16/4 in my opinion, because of that specific 4th slot perk, which can be a caveat. I'd rank AL Azuma at A-Tier and possibly even S-Tier IF leveled up to the max, but that's just me.
I have all of the S-Tier commanders on your list accept for AL Colorado and AL Sov. Rossiya. I have AL NJ at 16/3 so I'm not feeling the need to acquire AL Colorado but I will have to get AL Sov. Rossiya at some point.
I have one final question...
Have you ranked the Arpeggio commanders yet? If not, will you consider doing so in the future?

Hey Moony, hope you’re doing well! Atago would have to be S tier. The 8% buff to fire chance per shell is ridiculous lol. Especially on Suzuya, or even Zao, it’s quite insane. Also, I find her inspiration useful on DDs sometimes. It generally reduces torp rx time by a higher percent than using Fishy for 4 knots more speed.
As for the arpeggio ones I don’t think I have. Honestly that collab didn’t excite me, but if they ever return in force I’d consider ranking them!

Would you say Colorado is better than hoshino? Or they’re roughly the same. I have hoshino and planning on buying New Jersey but also thinking of buying Colorado.
I don't want to pay for digital product very often, but if i did, i would like to have Dunkerque. That near insta switch is so powerful, especially if you are a bot like myself and always have the wrong shells loaded 🤣

If I have AL New Jersey and Hoshino, is there really any point in getting Colorado? As a commander, Hoshino seems purely better than Colorado. While Col’s inspiration might be slightly better objectively, I don’t think it’s better enough to warrant the resources as solely an inspiration, but what do you think?

Idk why im more happy with Hoshino over AL NJ. The extra damage is nice but I find when the rounds do hit I end up getting dev strikes anyway

Derka please try this build on Montana and Ohio I am loving it 😁. Colorado with Flammable cannonier, gyrating drill bits, on second thought, courageous shelling, will to rebuild, inspirations Paolo di Revel and Ding Ruchang. Then finally put an Epic or legendary main battery mod 3 boost on the ship if you can. It brings The base reload down to 22 seconds, The BA Montana would be 20 seconds. Not to mention the 16 second reload every 3 shots. Then if the legendary perk is active that just decreases as the battle progresses. Absolute monster of a build.

My largest criticism of AL Zara is something you danced around. AL Zara in her skills has the exact same dpm boosts as Sansonetti but Sansonetti's is unconditional so it'll have a higher uptime compared to Zara. So me that means using Sansonetti w/ Zara as an inspiration is better than Zara by herself. But paying 5k dubs for an inspiration only commander on a single line of ships in the game is a massive ask. An ask that's way too large imo.
100% agree. I like using her as an inspo for sansonietti and get best of both worlds...its way stronger than I'd like others to know haha

It was sad to see two of my most used commanders in D tier, but it's a preference tho. I have Azuma and Yoshino at my top 5 played ships, so AL Azuma was my first 16/4 commander. AL Cheshire is my go to commander for The Royal Navy, Fully packed and improved ricochet angles keep me afloat for the whole match.
Al Cheshire being low could totally be a “me” issue. I’ve never given her a chance tbf
I've got AL Montpelier maxed. Run her on a few ships with good base AA. She is absolutely insane on Worcester. Don't have Legends up rn but I think max AA range is 8.8km. Of course you don't see many Carriers at LT but when you do it's a nightmare for enemy aircraft. Run her alot on Rochester and San Diego as well

Question RE AL Sov. Rossiya; Do you think running Von Essen as an inspiration (increased minimal ricochet angle of shells) would pair well, not so well or interfere with her special skill "Battle Cry"? I'm trying it at the moment and I can't tell if I'm on to a good thing or wasting an inspiration slot or worse.
I think it would pair extremely well. Super pen angles….could be deadly
Cheshire is my go to commander for the Bortas. I feel she makes it just that much more tanky. I know for most one premium commander for one premium ship isn’t worth it.

Wow I’m shocked AL Baltimore was only given C tier. For a long time she was my only Azur Lane commander so we certainly enjoyed some good matches. Certainly a Wanchor build when specced into rudder.

Bey would likely be the best, his base trait is super helpful. Level him up and use him as an inspo in all other DDs. I wouldn’t recommend putting a Bb commander on a dd (scharnhorst)

tough, I honestly like them both so much. But if I were trying to save money I personally would pick Colorado, cause I use her as an inspiration on all of my other BB builds. Grouping + reload is clutch

I personally think when it comes to AL Commanders, they all are great. if anything, get what you like and enjoy. I did do the math and for the entire AL Content it's $750+ (at least in my case it is, it can be less or more for others) making it a pretty penny, I have NJ and Balt and Avrora. I need to get Nelson (Conqueror), Colorado (Vermont and Monty) and Litorrio (for Marco Polo that I picked up a few weeks back) maybe Scharnhorst as she's been meta for inspirations on USN Commanders. it's going to cost me $100.... lol

@DerkaGames that's the unfortunate irony. The ones I am looking for would be the ones I would use all the time. Especially Nelson and Litorrio, as I only used Polo once, been wanting Litorrio since release for that very reason. Scharn, as I mentioned, would be my USN Inspiration for Sims and others as dispersion at 19k (19.3k on my Vermont on bigger maps) is unforgiving. The ships are interesting. These ships were literally the precursor to the BA Monty and Tirpitz where their stats and makeup are different from their tech tree counterparts, especially Soviet BB Rous, which when it came out was rough to go against. Luckily, I can afford it this one time. They better have an offline mode when servers get taken down... invested too much as it is now, though not as much as Mass Effect Andromeda...

Shokaku is useless. Speed for carrier and planes and boost for concealment… nah. Not worth it. If she would have slot for torpedo speed (+4 or 5 knots) or maybe HP boost for planes I would consider to purchase but so far it’s useless.
