Take those times between the stanzas of the first verse to listen to what the banjo is doing to back up the song; you can follow that all the way through. Fleck is so precise, so inventive, the little things he's doing aren't flashy solo-type things meant to draw attention to him, they're complementing the song tremendously with notes that aren't in the melody. SO good. And so is his solo, leaving me to scream at the cameraman "You know, the banjo is the one with the big round body, you should be pointing over there..."
There must be something in the cameraman union guide book advising them to rarely if ever focus on the one soloing. It's a long standing tradition that crosses genres effortlessly.
The raw power in his right hand and the precision of his left. There will never be another on this level. RIP.
Amen!
No one covered Lightfoot as well as Tony Rice with a bluegrass twist👏👏👏👏 RIP Tony but your music lives on.

Greatest of all time.
Tony nailed the vocals despite the problems he had! :)) Yeah!
Tony's incredible, as is Sam Bush on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on dobro, and Bela Fleck on banjo.
The best BG crew in the world at the recording moment. It just HAD to be PERFECT! (Did someone expect anything else? 🥳😅)
I never tire of hearing these guys pick
this is the lineup waiting for me when I go. just phenomenal
amen
So great! Thank you Lightfoot, thank you band!
Just awesome! How lucky we were to listen for so many years.
RIP Tony.
RIP
I bought Cold On My Shoulder when Gordon Lightfoot first released it. I loved it, but Rice and company are amazing.
My best song ❤️❤️
This is "Cold on the Shoulder"
The Best!!
@tayman1519 Thanks.
I'll change it.
I guessed somebody would put me right if I had it wrong!
What year was this recorded?
This is Gordon Lightfoot's song!!
Where did Sam Bush run off too halfway through the song? O_o
He had to wee 😁
I’m thinking maybe to grab his fiddle?
Suprising to find out they all smoked pot, they don't look like typical people who smoke pot
