    I watched this about 3 times in a row before I attempted to try swapping out the pads on my own 2010 Edge and everything on my car was as shown in this video. I did the driver's side first which took me about 45 minutes as I figured out where everything was. After that, the passenger side took all of fifteen minutes. Thank you for providing this helpful video!

    Great video, I did too suspect a sticking caliper based on uneven wear on rotor. I also lube the new slides where the pads sit it for better float or movement. Otherwise, great video!

    Thank you! I'm helping my friend with his next week, wanted to make sure there wasn't anything too crazy different. Do you have a rear brake video?

  • @bkucinschi
    @bkucinschi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I did that I replaced both the calipers and the brackets, they are cheap enough. You can then take the pistons out, clean the calipers, and replace the rubber gaskets with new ones. Thus you have the parts ready for the next time you service the brakes.

    I have a strange issue. 2007 ford edge sel. a couple times spead out over a couple weeks I have had the ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND WRENCH LIGHTS COME ON ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
    I checked tone rings, and bearings, all checks out ok. No cracked tone ring and no sloppy or noisy bearings. I cleaned the ABS sensors with brake clean thinking there may be dirt. I checked DTC's but there are no stored codes. I am thinking it is a bad Wheel speed sensor. My thoughts are ABS light comes on to idicate wheel speed sensor, Traction control light goes on because its turned off because of wheel speed sensor. Wrench light goes on because there must be a loss of communication of a wheel speed sensor.
    Have you ever come across this issue and what do you recommend for the fix.
    The lights have not come on for a few weeks now, but want to change what needs to be to prevent any further issues.

    I just bought one of these MKX's and someone ignorant to brakes put the pads on backwards. The owner had to have the rotors fixed. I happen to feel a bit of grabbing when braking, hopefully it will not cause any trouble.

    Thanks for the excellent video, changed front and back pads on 2011 lincoln mkx, works great however I have issue with the parking brake limited braking with the pedal all the way. Is there any adjustment tightening the cable? I would appreciate any advise, thanks again.

    Hi there! Hope you can help me. I got new front pads and rotors on my 2010 Edge as of a month ago but there is an awful high-pitch squeeling when I first pull out of my garage in the morning. Low speed, in reverse, little pressure on the brakes - the kind of brake pressure needed to back out of a driveway safely. The awful noise always goes away once the brakes have warmed up or if I apply more brake pressure when backing out. Any idea on how to make this noise go away? Do you think it's just from sitting overnight and I have to deal with it? I sure hope not - it's a few seconds of horrible! Thanks! :)

    Do you guys ever turn the rotors anymore, or always just replace them?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Blackaboe replacing them is the only way nowadays especially with the pitting. I think the only ones we cut anymore are some of the older Taurus and crown Vic's.

    no silicone grease behind the hardware to prevent rust or on the ears of the pads? Thanks for your videos.

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +peelman1506 Behind the hardware I didn't but I use anti seize now and I never use grease on the ears of the pads when anti rattle clips are used.

    • @anthonyfili11
      @anthonyfili11 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +FordTechMakuloco I am curious why you didn't use grease in between the pad and clip. have you ever had any seizing or noise issues with doing that

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Anthony Filice No never any issues with that the clips are either coated or stainless steel so they stay clean and can move freely. I have always followed what Ford does from the factory even with my Loctite placement and never an issue.

    • @daveecklund3369

      shouldn't have to at all, its already a vacuum system in the brake lines. I assume pushing the one piston back will only make the reservoir rise a little
