Visually, this is truly a stunning basement. There is a lot to see, interact and simply enjoy. It’s a cozy-looking escape, a world of it’s own. This is why houses with basements are always amazing to have. Frank, you’ve done a helluva great job.
You’re so gd Canadian, I can’t stand it!! 😂 Authentic AF to the extreme. Thanks for giving us a peek behind the rest of your very awesome hangout space. You did a phenomenal job putting it all together. Love love love it!! ❤️
Fantastic tour Frank! Such a great pad to hang!! However… I’ll be honest. The thing that blew my mind the most that I wasn’t expecting was the 2 utility sinks in the laundry room! So jealous!!!!
Haha, glad you like it dude. I never knew why the former owner installed 2 sinks. Seems like one more than we need??? I would have used the space for storage.
Brilliant setup Frank. Need to get some single malt scotch for that Bar Shelf. My setup is similar but my kids have a band so 1/3 of my basement is a video game room/jam room with a full size drum kit, guitars amps and mikes. Still leaves plenty of space for my Single Malt bar, vinyl collection, tv etc. May send some photos in for Vinyl Dens submission one day if I ever get around to it. Enjoy your space, looks amazing!
@@Channel33RPM yeah, that was around the time the Company went bankrupt. In the past few years, whomever owns the Strohs brand, rereleased the original formula in the distinctive brown bottles/yellow label in limited quantities. I had some, and it tasted just like it did in the 70's-80's, but I'm not sure it got a wide release. Love, the bar BTW....
Very nice Frank, you have talent. Love the area where the bar is and the movie room itself. It all looks very well designed and clean without any clutter. I like it a lot. Thanks for showing it was fun to see.
I was helping a band as a roadie for a gig once back in the 80’s when they opened a club show for Joan Jett. I got to meet her but she was so intoxicated I didn’t think she would be able to do the show. They taped lyrics all over the stage for her. She was a bit sloppy but the show went on.
8:50 That is such a great movie poster by Drew Struzan for John Carpenter's 'The Thing' which, like you, is definitely one my all-time favourite sci-f/horror movies. Aside from having the movie on Blu-ray, I also have the soundtrack on LP as well as CD; both of which were quite rare at the time with a wonderful, creepy score by legendary composer Ennio Morricone, but the soundtrack is not typical of Morricone's style (Spaghetti westerns, 'The Mission', 'The Untouchables'. 'Cinema Paradiso', 'The Hateful Eight', etc.) and one can definitely hear John Carpenter's "thump-thump" synthesizer influences (kind of like Michael Myers visits Antarctica'). :)
I love it! You did a great job. Impressive. You just became that much cooler in my world. You have some awesome stuff and that arcade cabinet is super cool...nice conversion. A+
Absolutely love this setup Frank, you have an incredible set of spaces here. I am hopefully moving into a new place at the end of the year and planning on creating my own home theater and music room so you have provided a ton of ideas and inspiration here.
@@Channel33RPM Thanks so much for your reply Frank. I also forgot to ask, what are you making of the Zeal & Ardor album on your display? It blew my mind when I first heard it and I've returned to it constantly over the past few years.
It was a good one!!! I was 14 and went with my sister, who was 11. My dad dropped us off at the arena, and picked us up. I still have no clue how we found our seats. Good times!
@@Channel33RPM Awesome. My mom took me and my friends and sat a few rows behind us as to not embarrass us. Haha! That's when I smelled pot for the first time.
Thank you. Yeah they all love it. The kids call the bar the 'snack shack.' I've got some sodas and chips back there for them. We do a family movie night at least once a week.
Wow, Frank! You have an amazing bar, music room, theatre, and man cave. That was a lot of hard work and dedication and it really paid off to be such a fun space for you, your family, and friends. I'm really digging that arcade machine of yours that you found and then had customized. The Brick sells Arcade1Up machines and had a sale recently where I purchased a Ms. Pac-Man arcade machine (with 12 arcade games included) and a Terminator 2: Judgment Day machine; both of which I still have to assemble and test, but arcade machines really add a lot of fun as well as nostalgia to any media room/man cave. :)
Thanks my friend. I have eyed those 1Up machines at the Brick as well. I love classic/retro gaming. Let me know your thoughts once you get the machine going. Did you get the risers as well?
@@Channel33RPM Hopefully, by the end of the week, they'll be up and running. Yes, both of them came with the risers included and I think they are essential to give both units a bit more height. That seems to be the consensus among reviewers out there and if the risers are part of the kit, they are a better value together than buying the risers separately later on. The only downside with The Brick is I had just 48 hours to report any defects or damage for a refund and I was way too busy this past week to assemble the units to see if they were working properly (the boxes were perfect and intact), so technically, I own the units now whether they work or not. So, that's the only caveat to assemble them quickly in the event that something is not functioning properly or to see if the cabinets are damaged in any way.
Haha - sometimes I do leave :) ... Honestly, often times people just end up coming here to hang out and catch a movie, etc. We do a lot of horror nights - that kind of stuff. Cheers
Looks like a super space for the bar and home theatre. Do you use a de-humidifier in the basement? Here in NY basements can be quite damp and humid--especially in the summer.
Yes, absolutely - we have a portable de-humidifer in the basement. I have it plugged in, but it hasn't kicked in yet... usually works from mid to late May, into September.
To my brother from another mother; when I spotted the bottle of Grand Marnier on your bar shelf I knew we were kindered spirits! A retro audiophile and music collection addiction with a healthy appreciation of vintage electronics. Ahhhh, I have arrived in heaven, lol. Please don't ever stop. Well done Frank. Your basement space looks professionally done. Great layout and design elements. Your movie room and bar looks like a great place for friends and family. Thank you for the tour!

I do - I have one of the Howard the Ducks. I didn't know there was more than one. I will have to keep an eye out. I do not have the Archie one (I prefer the vintage stuff). You?
That was fantastic, Frank! Everything looks fun, warm and cozy. Extremely well done. I'd been through many tables over the years, sometimes just for fun, but now I feel settled in with almost all my gear. Oh yeah, the pets' names are awesome. Cheers! Tom

Nice room! I find it is necessary to have a dedicated room for HT. We use our living room/study area. Have a 5.1 Polk system in there with a 12" B.A. sub (200 watts x 600 watts peak). And a monster, old school 51lbs Onkyo AVR and Playstation as the bluray, chromecast for streaming. We have a 55" LG in there now. But I sometimes use an el cheapo Bomaker projector (LCD/LED) at 110" on the wall. Eventually will set up so that I can do a 135" on that wall-using the full width and height. The Bomaker is nowhere near that BenQ but it does give a semblance of the cinematic experience for peanuts. I run the HDMI sound/pic through the Onkyo and then to the projector when I use that. Which is a pain because there is no permanent position for it yet.
I also have a vintage system in that room? An old Vector Research reciever of 45 watts x 2, powering some old school monster Radioshack, Mach II speakers-I use a Sony ES BDP as the CD player there.
The TTs are in the basement and office systems. Nothing special, an old Dual and a Realistic Direct Drive LAB table-both with their Shure carts.
