Phil: Did my first mixtape in 1981. Your comments are spot-on. Current mixtapes/demos are essential for potential customers skeptical that I (64 and retired) can handle their event. The DDJT mixtape course was the solution. Steve (primary instructor) began as a vinyl DJ and applies that knowledge to his instruction. I had little to no knowledge of the digital world. Took several day to do my first mixtape. Now it's a few hours after organizing music. Also use what I learned to produce edits in about an hour and simple mashups in a day. (Purchased and need to finish LB Luke's course!)
Sounds really good. Been there...when saying oooh this song or mix I did and it is in my dj collection on my laptop. Suffice to say I use mainly Traktor and only sometine VDJ but my Traktor is much more organized in regards to my dj collection.
I have a 2TB Google Drive account I sync my "_serato_" and "Music" folders to. I sync those folders to my back up DJ laptop which is super simple and fast as it only syncs the changes. I always have a back up laptop at gigs that has the exact same Serato music, playlists, cues, loops, etc as my primary laptop... even if I loose both laptops, I can just grab one of my other laptops, install Serato and sync the new laptop to my 2 Google drive folders. Super simple and super secure! Even if Google Drive goes down (never has) I have everything on my back up laptop!
I've been looking for a Easy Minimal setup Cloud solution...that isn't the Hassle of a Dropbox format. I'd like 5 or 6 Terabytes. Is there such a thing for Serato & Rekordbox?
Morning phil...That happened to me once we're my tidal library was deleted and I had to recover everything from DJ pro so now I looking for a backup source.... I relied on tidal to much maybe you can do another video on back up systems for djs thanks phil
Hi Phil, whats the download & upload speed like on the service? I’m restoring my laptop currently and Acronis is painfully slow to recover here in Indonesia.
Phil, could you please explain what is the need for such a software! I mean normally you will use either a Backup Software for you Windows Client or Time Machine for your Mac to your NAS or externally to Cloud and / or you will use such a Service like Onedrive / Onedrive4Business / GoogleFiles / ICloud for FileSync your Data to the cloud and their you can also Sync your DJ Music as well just by enabling the path and as QUE Point are stored in Files next to the Musik, they will be backuped as well I mean the Service you show is exatly doing that what described. You can use AllDup which is free for remove duplication and you can use e.g. onedrive app on your phone for access to the Files their ..... regards Oliver
If your laptop fails, no Cloud's gonna help you there and then, unless you carry with you a backup laptop and have a few hours to spare reinstalling everything. That said - all my music is on an external drive (used to be an SSD, now it's on an NVMe drive), and I always have with me 2 power supplies (since one died right in the middle of my radio show), the said NVMe drive PLUS a full backup of it on an external SSD, 2 USB controller cables + 2 USB3 external drive cables, 2 power cables etc... no spare laptop (none of my Mac's ever failed me) (so far :) and no spare controller (ditto). And frankly, looking at the Cloud subscription price, you're better off buying an external SSD, or even a small-size external HDD and having this with you as a backup. Faster to set-up, and no wi-fi required. But that's just me :)
I use both. External back-up drives are for device failures. Cloud back-up is for disasters, so you don't lose everything in a house fire, hurricane, earthquake etc.
@@digitaldjtips it ended up coming thru. Just took a couple hours. Hopefully they get that fixed. Also had payment issues. Wouldn’t accept my bank card. Had to use a credit card.
I would like to have the feature of missing artwork that can be added to the file, have the file scanned so it can be properly ID'd and the proper artwork be added to the file.
Interesting idea - trouble is there are often many options for artwork as a track will have been part of many releases, so I guess there would need to be a way for the DJ to choose.
@@digitaldjtipsSome record pools remove the original artwork and replace it with their own from the record pool so if the file is shared their logo artwork shows up instead of the original artwork, I can name one such record pool that does this lol and I gotta go search for the original artwork and replace it using mp3 tag.
99% of DJs will have less than 2TB of audio in our experience. If you have more, you're probably already up to speed with protecting such a HUGE investment.

Thanks for sharing your experience with our courses, it always helps others to read things like this - and well done Larry!
Phil you’re the best and thank too for keeping us making mix tapes and all dj things informed.
My pleasure!
Been using this since it was in beta. It’s nice too see all of the new features that have been implemented.
What else would you like to see them add?
I have been using this since this past summer. I love it.
Thanks for sharing!
Downloading app immediately.
I'm uploading my music right now.
How did it go?
@digitaldjtips So far, so good. Everything uploaded yesterday. Have to learn capabilities, operation, etc.
Phil. Another most informative show. Except you didn’t tell us where you got that shirt. Love it

A few Traktor users popping up here - let's hope they're listening!

You are one of the enlightened few! Of course the devil is in the detail ie how regularly you do your backups.
@@digitaldjtips every time I close Serato!
Will the app back up your library in the order you have it already set up as far as folders go or does it just back up all of your music files
Both
@@digitaldjtips Thanks, I have to investigate a little more
Hello my role model please help me on how I will access a rekordbox software compatible to MacBook, thanks in advance
How do you know a cloud is safe and will be available years from now or no copyright issues or it being taken away?

Because nobody does.
@@digitaldjtips if so, the new solution will also not be used as both is a onetime effort....
So if you use Traktor then you’re S.O.L.? I have been using Traktor Dj2 on an iPad Pro and the S3
Right now with this app, yes.
hey good am Dj douglas from nigeria i want to be a professional dj how can i
Will they have the power of reusing your music for their own personal profits
No, of course not. Haven’t even got your music.
Somewhere in my house, is a copy of my first (circa 1983) mixtape.
Now if I can only find it.☹
Good luck searching!

If you are religious about your backups, yup - great solution, These people have identified that most DJs aren't.
Tried signing up, but the email confirmation system may be broken. :-:
It is working for us, what seems to be the problem?
Same here.... Wouldnt accept my legit bank card

Only offers 2tb maximum storage. In theory that should be good enough but I have over 2tb in audio and 4 tb of video.
for MP3's only it should be decent. As it goes for videos, i got 0 knowledge.
Yea I have about 10tb of just audio 2 tb is not enough, that being said I back up to a local storage every week.

No not Azure! Go AWS!
Google drive does the same thing for way cheaper
It's not the same thing, but yes, it is also a cloud backup solution.
Funny.. I have a backup hard drive at my mom's house in her closet.
Good work!
