The QSC TouchMix videos are very well done, and informative. I realized that I needed one of these mixers. I purchased a TM-8 for processing my drumset. It operated for almost a year, but then developed several issues. When powering my TM-8 the headphones had no sound, the four aux outs displayed full red on their outputs. One of the mixer channels was also full red, and so were the two main outs. I had NO efx, comp or eq. Powering the TM-8 off and back on would result in fixing the problem, but not every time. I shipped the mixer back to QSC and the tech said he replaced the SD card. Now it’s STILL doing the same thing! Latest from QSC tech said he’s going to replace the board. Sucks for me. I wonder what the failure rate is on these products.
I just can’t figure out how to boost the subwoofer output. I tried to connect the subwoofer just as you connect to other mixers but it doesn’t cross over and not a sound coming out of the subwoofer
good question. in reality if you need to use a DI then 99% of the time the output from same will be XLR, another question specs sheet(on the 16 version ) mention 12mic/4 Line level inputs so does that mean that 13 to 16 combi jacks are soley Line level and mono of course but balanced or unbalanced, I just picked one up last week (used but pristine) and to be fair the features looks so impressive and hopefully it fills a gap for me, many of my gigs do not call for my big desks and the same gig too big for a rodecaster pro. Ill looking forward to playing with it over xmas,
These mixers are not for the road. To fragile . if you use on the road, you will have breakdowns. A lot. If you intend to use at home in studio. Then There are several major functionality issues. You cant add other effects or plug ins without adding external signal processing gear and a lot of difficulty. The only way to insert effects , is old school by routing a channel to aux out and looping thru external effect and then returning line signal to another channel. So using your favorite plug in live is not going to happen easy, or without adding a rack next to this thing. . You ALSO cant use a third party DAW .The USB interface is not user configurable . It is for loading Software or for hard drive recording/playback in their data format only. You cant post process any recordings on another device, or load the tracks . you cant send/receive tracks thru the USB to a DAW. it only records/plays stereo outs to and from the hard drive that were recorded on a Tm unit format. You will have to A/D convert the playback into you DAW. losing lot of signal. . This is a very limited device and not expandable. It is basically way way over priced. the effects sound terrible when more than any two channels are using them. They saturate and get dirty fast . The choice of effects is weak at best, forget any thing like flange, phaser, and complex reverb, harmonizer, etc . this is a $400 mixer with a $1500 price tag, because of a lot of misrepresentation and PR by the company to brand it as something it is not.
Basically covered everything I needed in one straightforward explanation.
I’ve been looking for this video for months. Thank you!
