Thanks for putting this up. It was a breeze to replace. Definitely saved myself some money. 😊
Outstanding! I love saving the next guy some money when I can. Thanks for watching!
This was the best instructions on changing in cabin filter, others didn't explain how to get door off where filter is located.
I appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Out of all of the videos I've watched on how to perform this service, yours is the simplest & best explained!!!👍👍 Thanks!!
I really appreciate the feedback! I was hoping the step by step would help folks out. I enjoy saving folks money where I can. Thanks for watching!
I’ve watched over 10 videos & your video was the easiest one out of all. Ty
I appreciate the feedback and I’m glad it could help! Thanks for watching!
Yup. Not more than 10 minutes. Didn’t take the dash side off (I break stuff too easily). I didn’t even know about cabin air filters, so this one is from factory, 120,000 miles and countless dog and cat rescue transports. I really appreciated the hemostat tip. Honestly putting that last clip on took the longest, so was super thankful having the hemo on it.
I’m glad it could help! They hide these things in the oddest places!
Excellent Vid my man!!! Very thorough!!!
Thank you! I hope this vid will save folks time and money!
So very well done, easy to follow, plenty of light, correct angle to show exactly what you are doing, entertaining as well. Completely agree with the mind of an engineer, they think differently and in this case it applies to automotive design engineers, software engineers, electrical engineers you name it. Thanks for the great job.
😁
I appreciate the kind words! The owners manuals are almost worthless these days! Thanks for watching!
That last part 😂 lol love this video
I’m just an idiot with a camera!! lol
Do yourself a favor and remove the 2 white hinge pins before doing anything else so you don't break the hinges and have to buy a new glovebox.
I can’t say that isn’t bad advice!
@@C10TruckNerdI learned the hard way. I watched another video that left this step out. Luckily I was able to repair mine with super glue and duct tape lol.
ALL horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow direction. Otherwise the blower motor would have dirt and debris trapped inside of it.
Great tip! Thanks for the comment!
Excellent video. There was enough light so I could see what you're doing
Thank you! I’m hope it could help!
Really helped out thanks
Good deal! Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I too followed your instructions on my 2019 Explorer. After I removed the side panel and the pull wire, then the top two clips, there was no room to get my hand through the limited space. This is because the door only opens till it hits the cross bar below it. I am reluctant to take the cross bar off. Did you remove the bottom cross bar so the door would open wider? What year Explorer did you change the cabin filter in? After looking at some other videos, I think that cross bar is actually an air bag.
Mine was a 2018 xlt, kind of basic model. My door was able to open quite a bit after the top stops were released out of the dash as the video showed. I’m not sure why some can open and others can’t. If it still feels tight, play it safe and remove the bottom 2 white hinge clips. They should slide towards the center and pop loose from the dash.
Hi! I tried doing this but can’t get the cover to the filter to budge. Any advice?
I have used a small pocket flat head screwdriver as well. It’s small enough it doesn’t break the plastic.
Thanks i just did mine!
Good deal! Did it go smoothly?
Yup...thanks!
@@villaltaarnol great!
TH-cam family, I’d advise you to slide the bottom white clips if possible. If you choose to go his way be prepared to squeeze through a narrow opening which can potentially break the bottom clip if you attempt to squeeze through. I will have to assume that Chad also disassembled it prior to videoing it.
My hands fit in the opening and I have never broke anything. As long as I release the box all the way down there was no reason for me to pull the clips. I have changed that filter several times over the years, so thats how I learned to do it this way. Reinstalling the white clips can be a pain since I can’t see them very well. Thanks for your input!
I followed your video and broke the hinge when I pulled down slightly on the glove box trying to get to the filter. Found the removable pins after the fact...
I can concur, it broke my right clip that holds onto the white piece. Popped it back on tho so it’ll do! Unfortunately for those of us with foot air bags.. this is our only option (chads video) as the airbag covers the white pegs that you’re recommending be removed.
@@KHunterK3if you have a leg/foot airbag it doesn’t matter you can’t remove them anyways! Count ur losses and just be glad ur air is cleaner now.
Hardest part is removing the filter door. Wish you would have filmed the actual Removal. Thx anyhow
That would have been. I have been using a small flat head pocket screw driver.
He is why I love my white cousins!!! All humans are awesome!
Thanks for the support! Stay safe!
Did you leave the glove box door on while you changed out the filter ?
Just let it hang ?
I let it hang. I had my knee under it but you could also put a board or something under to keep it from popping the hinges loose.
I have a 2014 Explorer w/v6 engine. I followed the video but when I the open the box past the stops and let it hang there's not enough room to get to the filter housing
If yours won’t give you the space, slide the white hinges in at the bottom of the door and it will come off.
Ok, why didn't you show how to put everything back in the reverse order..the plastic pins are not that easy to reinstall back into the glove compartment
I wondered if I should have when I made it. I didn’t want to make the video too long.
10 mins., L. M . A. O. !!!
No mention of removing the White clips that whole glove box . They are plastic and a bitch too remove .
Now the filter cover, again plastic .
Total time more like2 Hours and be damn careful not to break plastic .
Want more challenge,,
Find the fuse panel and try and remove a simple fuse .
Good call! I don’t know why other vids say to remove hinge clips. Extra unnecessary step! I just open the box past the stops and let it hang. I still had enough room to get to the filter housing. I’ve seen too many folks break the clips or not be able to get them back in. You can save so much time leaving them in. You are so right with all the plastics! Sometimes I think parts are built to break…Thanks for watching!
Ha totally agree. Ford you are a joke!
Hi sorry but you didn’t show next step to take off the 2 white pin under dash in order to take off 😮have a nice day
I have small enough hands that I don't pull the white plastic pins out. They are too hard for me to get them back in without breaking them.
Well, you missed the step to slide the white plastic, sliding posts on the bottom of the glove box door to the sides so you don’t break the door when pushing it down. The glove box door is meant to be totally removed. Other videos show this, don’t break the hole that the sliding post slides through, or you’ll be replacing your entire glove box door. They are not meant to be pushed down to access the cabin air filter, the entire glovebox should be removed.
You have to have small hands like it said to make it work. I have been able to change the filter out at least 4 or 5 times now without damaging anything. There is nothing wrong to taking the extra time and removing the clips.
My air filter directional arrow was originally pointed upward. Am I the only one?
If I remember correctly, my original filter was installed upside down too. I have heard this from others as well.
Mine was installed by the factory upside down. Mine took 10 minutes. I let the glove box drop and there was plenty of room.
Thank goodness you didn’t smash your beautiful face by accidentally setting off the airbag 😍
You are the fucking man ❤
Thanks! Love the profile!
I agree about Ford engineers. Some of the dumbest people on the planet. Trying having a 1st generation Ecoboost engine? Let's put a standard 3.5 L chain on a twin turbo engine? What could possibly go wrong? But thanks for the video.
Right? Sometimes I think a shade tree mechanic should be on the payroll to just watch and say “that’s going to be a problem later!”
