Thing is the Yankees aren't just trying to replace Soto. If it was just Soto, there was no replacing him. But its Soto+Verdugo+Rizzo+Torres. Soto, Verdugo, Rizzo, and Torres were worth about 10.7 bWAR, 7.9 of that just from Soto. You can't make up that 8 bWAR with one deal, but you sure as hell can make it up with 4. Just bringing up the Martian likely adds about 3 bWAR. 2-3 for Bellinger, 1-2 for Goldschmidt. Give us a full year of Jazz, hope for some improvement by Wells and Volpe, and toss in a second baseman and we're about where we want to be, and that's not considering what looks to be significant improvements in pitching.
Thats the thing , dominguez is an unknown and it doesnt look like they are getting another infielder . And to expect much better from volpe is not very realistic imo .
This offseason is playing out a lot like How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Mets fans (the Grinch) are expecting Yankees fans (the Whos) to sit around and cry because they stole Juan Soto (Christmas) from us only to be shocked to realize that we’re still doing just fine. Still need a 3B or 2B, but so far it’s hard to be mad at the Yankees for the offseason they’ve had. Happy Holidays to you and yours Brian. 🎅🏻🍪🥛🎄🎁☃️ Go Yankees! 💪🏻🔵⚪️⚾️⚡️🔥
I’ll go you one step further. I’m actually thrilled that Soto is no longer on the Yanks. It forces them to become a more balanced team. That’s what I always wanted them to be.
Not sure where you’re seeing any current reports of the Yankees being in on Bregman. They can’t afford him unless they manage to move Stroman and maybe Grisham. Trading for Arenado is more logistically sound at this point, but they still need to move money for that to happen.
Definitely sounds like they're trying to move Stroman ... so it wouldn't shock me. But yeah, haven't seen anything concrete re: Bregman, but to me he's the best remaining option for them, as, like I said, I kinda want them to give Jasson a real chance. Can always bring in an outfielder at the deadline. Thanks for watching!
@ don’t get me wrong, I definitely believe they will ultimately move Stroman, but I just don’t see them committing significant money to Bregman or any other FA that has a qualifying offer attached (especially as long as they are in the running for Sasaki). As for Dominguez, I feel like he is more likely going to get the nod as the starting CF considering how difficult it is to navigate LF at Yankee Stadium. Bellinger is probably the better fit in left for that reason
@@jjaffbaseball15fair point. Dominguez definitely didn’t look great out there last season. I guess we’ll see, I just know bellinger doesn’t have a ton of experience in left either. Hasn’t played there at all really since 2017
@ I believe he played 1 whole game in left for the Cubs in ‘24, so there’s definitely some risk there. But Bellinger at least provides a veteran presence in the corners which could allow Dominguez to develop and mold into a true CF. I don’t think the Yankees would be too concerned about moving Belli to left since he’s a short-term investment. That said, Dominguez should be getting both CF and LF reps during spring training so they can keep the situation at least somewhat fluid
Besides the money and the draft pick compensation attached to Bregman (which the Yankees won't touch), his bat profiles TERRIBLY at YS3. We won't be getting bregman or arenado GUARANTEED
Of course I like Soto, but I really wasn't worried when he went to the Mets I thought it was way too much money, he makes the ab exciting, but he's never put up Gaudy numbers that deserve that money, everything had a line up for him to get that money
Defensively they might be but overall they arent . That trevino trade might end up being a disaster , especially if wells doesnt stay healthy . And what they did to the inf is a joke . They wont be getting much offense from there . They went half assed yet again
This is a deeper better team. Sotos bat was amazing defense sucked. So moving judge back to right makes yankes better defensively. CF will be better defensively and better base running. The Martian in LF will be much better than who we had in left last year. MUCH BETTER PITCHING WISE. So between more balanced lineup and much better run prevention, better team. Bye $800 million man.
You know what happens when you don't give Soto 760m over 16 years? You have a boat load of money to give to others. Here's the thing, you cant just look at AAV with Soto's contract, that last 5 years or roughly 250mil of that contract is going to be absolute dog sht. So in reality he's not worth 50 AAV, his contract is more like 75mil
Soto is irreplaceable…. but the Yankees as a team will be better…Bellinger and Goldy are decent 2 way players….Soto was all offense….the pitching staff is much better and that counts…..as I said many times…. It all depends on the Martian…. He was Soto like in the minor leagues….. if that translates to the pros….the Yankees will be dangerous
good video very nice

They need more hitting merry Christmas go Yankees 🗽🗽🗽

Good stuff man

There is still a chance for Bellinger to be the starting left fielder, which would be more beneficial to Dominguez’s defensive development
Bellinger isnt a LF either .

Cortez should have never pitched in that Game
Game was over the second they decided to intentionally walk mookie.
Personally, I don’t think Soto is worth 765M, and the Yankees offense had holes regardless. Honestly great offseason
Still has holes

gleyber 3 years wouldve been hilarious. He is well below average at baserunning and defense with only average offense. Thats a bad second basemen.
i think yankees will go after kyle tucker next season then move cody to first base
Wouldn't mind that at all! But I'd be lying if I said I'm not starting to think about Vladdy ...
Vlad probably goes to the mets and tucker is no sure thing . Especially if bellinger doesnt opt out
Soto is irreplaceable…. but the Yankees as a team will be better…Bellinger and Goldy are decent 2 way players….Soto was all offense….the pitching staff is much better and that counts…..as I said many times…. nah they overpayed fried and lost soto so i think they are losing
So Soto isn't an overpay? Lol ok
Fried is only overpayed in years not money . Tell me do you think burnes was overpayed?
Good video. But no...
