Curry has a thumb flick (or not, but definitely some form of off hand involvement), dips the ball, and has mid air rotation. Curry is always running which makes the mid air rotation help him get the shot off earlier. Klay is a little taller so his squared shot lets his release get above a defenders hand faster. Each shooting form works well for each individual and playstyle.
@@iangp1113 This is a great, brief breakdown! Might I add, the quickness and flexibility of Steph's form also helps him get shots off the dribble which is crucial considering his ball handling duties paired with his sleight frame. Essentially, as you've said, Klay has picture perfect "textbook" form which serves him perfectly well for his catch-and-shoot style, meanwhile Steph has reinvented the idea of shooting itself and perfected his jumpshot to maximize those shot attempts.
@Tanmay Jamwal No good shooter has an absolutely perfect 90' square stance or has absolutely zero dip. On catch-and-shoot, he doesn't rotate mid-air, he's aligned his feet in a way that lets his arm already be aligned to the basket, so he's squared his stance for what's natural for him, not some right angle robot. When you look at shooters who dip the ball, like Curry, they'll gather the ball to their torso, then bring it down as they're starting the motion to hop.
