    Nottingham will always be in my heart!! Best memories as a young Greek student at NTU from 2000-2004 . Loved it a lot!

    Turning that corner and not seeing the massive arena staring you in the face feels so so strange!

    The trams have made a big change to the road layout. Everything has changed, but it's really subtle. There is the more angular car shapes, like the F reg one at one point. The buildings are more or less the same, but the shop signage is different. The street lamps and traffic lights are now all LED or high pressure sodium, but in this video its the orange sodium lights and vacuum bulb traffic lights. It just looks all different, like its modern, but just a bit odd.

    The roads of the city may be different but the buildings and architecture are shockingly the exact same to the Nottingham I know from when I went In 2011. How cool. Most UK cities have seen a lot of modernisation but this city was already a nice blend so they didn’t really need to add much. What a nice place 🇬🇧💪🙂

    Trinity square I almost remember that building before the cornerhouse. I think in many ways notts has devolved since they tore down too many things in the 60s onwards. But in some ways it’s improved in the past 15years

      Id say the changes in the 2000s while it could be seen as destroying teh old buildings, its really helped out.

    So strange. Trippy. Forgot about that road that ran up alongside the ice stadium. Feel like Marty McFly. Back in time. Thanks for posting.

      You mean THROUGH the ice arena? Hockley has always been there and still is.

    My dad worked at the Evening Post. The apprentices used to be in the Arkwright building across the road in the 1960s/70s, now part of NTU

      @@alastairknight9654 i think the changes have really helped, it allowed public transport to improve.

    • @Seb512
      @Seb512 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YoloMenace001 public transport hasn't improved much - lower parliament street is a nightmare for busses as they are help up at poorly-timed junctions and pedestrians crossing on red etc. They've forced the traffic to the outskirts where the infrastructure cannot cope and this has a negative effect on all modes of transit

    There was a lot more driving space around trinity Square. Feels so cramped now. I suppose it helps control the traffic flow though

    Does anyone remember the name of the shop with the two cricket bats on the outside? You catch a quick glimpse of it and he turns around where the old trinity square car park used to be

      I thought lillywhites was on climber street where sports direct now is. You might be right though

    • @mrmerle9821
      @mrmerle9821 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Redmayne and Todd - opposite the old Trinity Square car park, they also had a shop on the corner of Carrington Street and Canal Street. Lillywhites was on Clumber Street, just a bit further up from the old Olympus Sports store.

    Wow some of the roads have changed now, as can not go straight on on from Southwell road, you now have to go right and then left if u r in the buses, or straight on if u r in cars,
    No longer are cars and general traffic allowed to go straight on over parliament street on to king street queen street.
    pedestrianised

    I moved in in 2006 so Corner House and Ice Arena were already in place. Small road layout changes but other than that it's the same shit hole :D
