    I live in havasu , I’ll be deep into 16A and maybe 17A area, should be some nice trails to camp on and hopefully have some come by

    Drew 6b mzl, can’t wait! Gonna otc it as well, drove thru there checking roads, saw lot of elk, not a lot of deer.

      Congrats on the tag. A friend found a decent herd of muleys with a trail camera when they were legal. I think it was in the northwestern section of the unit. He kept the exact location secret. I had a few cameras in the central part of the unit but only found elk. Mule deer can be found in the roadless areas near the Mogollon Rim as well (an elk hunter reported seeing decent numbers in September a couple years ago). Best of luck to you.

      My cameras were located just north of Fry Lake (when they were legal).

    Another area for coues is 5B, thats where I bagged my coues buck. Also the Navajo reservation has some massive muleys, which can be hunted using a navajo guide.

      Congrats on your buck (you got that a couple years ago if I recall correctly). Thank you for bringing up some great points. There are awesome Coues deer hunts in central AZ for sure. The units further south are easier to draw because they give out so many tags (multiple rifle seasons). And because I'm bonus point depleted this year I forgot to mention those Coues hunts further north (I applied for 35A). Good reminder about the Navajo Reservation, too. For guys with some extra cash it's an extraordinary opportunity. Best of luck this season.

    I have a non resident archery deer tag for 27. Got lucky to draw . Looking forward to start scouting. Thanks for the video, love your content

    Awesome thanks for the info! I bought my first nonresident archery tag this year, going to be making a trip in January. There’s nothing I love more than backpack hunting here in Wyoming for weeks at a time. Just wondering what you’d consider would be good areas to look into to backcountry hunt and get away from the crowds. I plan on mainly aiming toward mule deer but would absolutely jump on an opportunity for a course if I see one. I was leaning toward 31 and the pinaleno mountains. Any input? Appreciate the advice!

      The road access in Arizona is fantastic. It's better to use the vehicle as a scouting tool when you first arrive. You will literally shoot yourself in the foot by trying to backpack into a camp (as a general rule). The southern part of the unit you're leaning towards is a great place to start. It could be one of the last to hit the quota, too. Think private property boundaries.

    Gonna be hunting 35a coues for the first time, Parker dam lake looks intriguing, and the miller peak wilderness near Sierra vista. Any other suggestions? Love the vids keep it up!

    • @azgamefinders
      @azgamefinders  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's my unit this year as well. The foothills around Fort Huachuca is the best for deer density. The Sierra Vista side looks promising. I'm starting on the west side though. My other favorite area is south of Parker Lake near the border. The biggest Coues deer track of my life was down in that region. There are some nice drinkers down there that the cattle are less likely to bombard. I'm praying for a cold snap which will help our chances. Good luck!

      Have you hunted yet? How did it go? I have the late December yeah in 35a. Last year we hunted the southwest corner of that unit and got skunked

    What have you seen that makes you say stay away from 20B? Low deer density or lower gene pool for bigger bucks?

    • @azgamefinders
      @azgamefinders  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hunter's complaining about deer numbers. There could be opportunity in the southwest portion of the unit. It's worth a try if you live on the west side of the valley (Phoenix).

    Draw a archery tag for unit 17A open in the early August and reopens in December but have never hunted this unit was a 2nd choice.I looking forward but have no idea did some scouting early in late spring to get an idea of the area. Can you give me some kind of idea about this unit?

    • @azgamefinders
      @azgamefinders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats of the tag. Timing will be everything. The bucks will be rutting hard by the end of December. There are lots of spotting points in the central part of the unit. The rancher in 18B (on the western border) does not allow hunting. You may get bucks moving from the private during the rut. Also, the southern border has potential during the rut. Sitting water works better in December. Mule deer are 40% more likely to drink in daylight hours during the winter. Good luck.

    Any info on 24b for coues?

    • @azgamefinders
      @azgamefinders  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should find a few near each spring in the higher elevations. Consider the area above the town of Superior as most hunters will start from Roosevelt Lake. Scouting from the road will be a waste of time. Watch for rattlesnakes in the lower country if scouting in the early season. Good luck.

    Great video! My brother and I are planning to do hunt otc mule in Arizona. My only question is it possible to hunt near hotels . We are non residents and plan on flying in so gear is limited.

    • @azgamefinders
      @azgamefinders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Prescott is a great place to stay. Lots of units for mule deer around there. It's important because some units do close after reaching harvest thresholds. In that region at least one unit should remain open through January, 2024. Also, Williams AZ has many hotels due to the Grand Canyon tourist traffic (and 24 hour gas stations). That would better choice for the early season in my opinion.

    What about 15 n 16

    • @azgamefinders
      @azgamefinders  ปีที่แล้ว

      Better options due to lower deer densities. Southwest corner of 16 probably better to find a huge buck. More abundant deer on the eastern border in the north in 16 smaller bucks though. Desert units they are and much better deer density in higher country units.
