      That will be my strategy this year. I spent the last 3 years bow hunting mature bucks in late September and all through October. Zero luck. Caused me a lot of frustration and stress. I have decided that bow season will really be my freezer filling season. Muzzleloader/rifle will allow me to be more selective for a good buck. Then when the last week of season rolls around in January I’m not scrambling to kill a doe to eat.

      First day of bow season in Indiana was yesterday…a high of 80 degrees…I went against my urges and stayed home…next Saturday there’s a 20 degree temperature drop…I’ll be out there!!!

    Tuning in from the yoop. First generation, second year bow hunter, all I can say is that the amount of insight you give is truly game changing and much appreciated. Attacking a clear cut this weekend, supposed to get to low 40’s at night. got a beautiful yooper 10 on camera.

    I hunt public land and you are correct. You have to learn to incorporate the public into a hunting strategy. For me it is wearing waders and stomping through a swamp where most two leg uprights won't go. Bugs, Snakes, Alligators, Hogs deter the faint at heart. I had several stand locations on high areas with oaks surrounded by knee deep water and cypress. This is where the deer go when pressure builds. There are also choke points and corridors connecting pine flats, oak hammocks, and swamp. (I like to take fallen logs and branches and place across game trails to have them walk around them.)
    The game does know when the hunt is on. They don't know if they are safe from those that don't go deep, but are pushed right into my comfort zone. Semper Fi!

    Thanks for another great video. Today is our Opening Day in Illinois. To me it's a little warm to go but next weekend temps are supposed to drop from highs in the 80's to highs in the 60's. Hopefully that'll make better hunting. Good Luck everyone.

    I have dogs on both sides of me and now a food plot, but the deer were funneling in between the dogs on our property on a saddle but I now see more deer on the food plot. I will take your advice, as I always do and hunt my two tree stands a small distance from the food plot which is doing great with the Plot Start - Plot Till and soon Plot boost with the fertilizer I spread. Man this is awesome stuff Jeff. I feel like I am in a PhD White Tail hunting class. I love it brother.

    Bow opened Oct 1st here in Oklahoma, 90 degrees is way to hot 🔥 I just worked on a few blinds and stands waiting on cooler weather. Now the heat isn't bothering the deer I have mature bucks on camera in the mornings until about 8:30 and a couple are showing up before dark on some days but it's just to warm to get deer processed before meat starts going bad. Next weekend supposed to be cooler so I might hunt then. But I prefer to hunt when it's colder so I don't have to worry about spoiled meat. Good luck to all 😊

      Anything but giving up..
      Still way early..I've had years where I was mentally down on one situation or another concerning my hunting year as a whole. Seems like nothing is going to happen, then here he comes. You can't really just know what deer are going to do, even if they have been doing the same routine for a week. Right place..right time. Just do your best and everything will work out in the long run. One year I had 6 bucks walk in on my left side 15yards out,single file,20' apart last evening of deer season. 4 of them were bigger than any buck I'd ever takin.
      Sooo, I shot the biggest one with my longbow to teach them all a lesson.
      Don't give up, friend.

    • @mulliano420
      @mulliano420 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t have a ton of experience (3-5 yrs) but I will say if you’re hanging a stand then it takes about a week or so before they come back through that area. However I don’t know the area you’re hunting or how the deer are moving. They should be changing their patterns as the temp drops and more ppl start hunting

      If it's legal, it's hunting. You could ask the same question about compounds...or crossbows. Or out of treestands, or fancy blinds. Or heck...what if someone only hunts 3 days a year or less ..or 10 days..are they really a hunter? What if they hunt private land. Or hunt with an ebike?
      The point...who is anyone to judge or they can be judged. The true judge? If it's legal they are a hunter...and if anyone says differently they are hurting hunting in general, including themselves, as a "hunter". I think the real question to ask is if a hunter is judging other hunters, are they even allowed to call themselves a hunter?

      Woods are shrinking by the year tho. Some my spots are in danger places now….ghettos. Might get shot at but they couldn’t hit bright side of a barn anyways.
