A lot of people think fishing is luck. It’s all about presentation and understanding what the fish want.
a little dog or cat food ground up chum on a slow tide brings small fish and snappers.
back in 2000 i got a few 17 inch off st pete pier w cutbait straight down to pilons.
That’s a stud! I caught a 16 incher at st Pete pier last year and a 17 incher at fort de soto pier

I saw a bunch of em down by st pete downtown pier. Caught a 16 incher with a chunk of mullet. I chum the water to get the big ones comfortable otherwise they hesitate.

Just fish it. I went there when it was closed off. No one came or said anything. There were cops patrolling too.

Is there any fresh cut bait i could purchase that doesn't disintegrate in seconds?
If you place it in a salt brine the night before fishing the frozen stuff gets nice and tough and stays on the hook better.
You can also get some elastic fishing string to wrap around the bait to keep it on the hook.
I love that spot but I've always caught more ladyfish than anything else there

Can’t be too recent. I went there last weekend and the area is closed for repairs.
According to the video, it was this past Memorial Day. That spot has been closed for repairs for over a year....but people, including Thonny, just ignore the sign and fish there anyway.
With the other people walking behind him it looks like others ignored it too
